Oak Hill Scuba is now permanently closed, as in «out of business.» I dropped by the shop this afternoon to find an empty store and a «for lease» sign in the window. So long, Mack! I wish you could have made it…

WAY overpriced and no returns. Bought gear here for $ 240 that I found after the fact online — brand new — for $ 120 total.

Oak Hill SCUBA is like a community, and I really like being a part of it. They do NAUI and PADI! I think their SCUBA education is really good. I did my NAUI certifications here with the Longhorn SCUBA program. I bought my Aqualung and Oceanic gear here, and I got a lot of great help from Nick and Mindy. Mindy recently created an online store, which is helpful to peruse before going into the store. Not everything is up there, yet. You know how dive equipment warranties and online sales agreements go. Mindy does a great job organizing cool events for the Dive Team. She organizes happy hours and dives in the San Marcos and Comal Rivers and Balmorhea, for example. I’ve gotten to play with full face masks from Ocean Reef and I swam with a rebreather from Titan Rebreather.

Spear-guns, bitch! I’m headed to Belize for a few weeks, so I wanted to get my amateur snorkle on. An uninitiated novice, I kinda wandered in on a whim, but they got me sorted with a top-notch snorkle and mask. Tons of wetsuits, scuba gear and snorkles galore, plus… honest to god spear guns! Woo! Very friendly staff, who provide first hand recommendations and unbiased advice. They managed to get my prescription(more or less) in a custom mask! Diving ain’t cheap, but everything seemed here seemed high quality. If you wanna swim with the fishes, go see these guys!
