I have ordered from this restaurant for over a year but never again. They added a $ 5 delivery charge and wouldn’t concede(typical delivery charge is $ 3). More importantly, I indicated that there is a mushroom allergy so NO mushrooms in the order. The dish was full of mushrooms. Then the order was wrong. The sampler platter did not include what was indicated on the menu and the Thai Spicy Chicken was not as it had ever been in the past. And the rice was extremely dry and old. The food was simply awful. It’s as if they threw in whatever was left over in the restaurant according to what they wanted to get rid of. Beware this unethical vendor. Lost a customer forever.

I got food poisoning, ’nuff said. If you live in SW Austin, go with Ocean China! I ordered sesame chicken and sweet and sour… Definitely not as good!

Two Friday’s in a row and they both times my order was wrong. I gave them a second chance and same old thing. I didn’t like the food either. Not going there again.

One of the most disappointing meals and service experiences I’ve ever had, and its not as though I had high expectations going in based on the building. Fried rice was more like white rice tossed with soy sauce, crab wontons contained zero crab. Egg foo young was burned and the beef that came with it was very fatty. My silverware was dirty. The dipping sauce looked watered down and tasted the same. I asked for a side of chili sauce which I though might perk everything up… nope. No flavor there either. All in all, would not recommend.

I was shocked to taste how good this was from an old short stop building. Cheap too, yeah!

Good, solid, Chinese/American takeout in a wasteland of food choices. This is not dine-in, nor is it foodie heaven– but it’s savory fast-food satisfaction when you need some salty, deep fried/pan-fried goodness. The epitome of local, home-spun restaurant action, South Austin style.

It was on my way home. I ordered egg rolls fried rice and orange chicken. The grades were B D C, respectively. The fried rice wasn’t even fried, they just threw a brown sauce on it hoping you wouldn’t notice. Panda Express is a step up. This place is like a lot of the restaurants in oak hill Y area, even if the food is good, which this wasn’t, the buildings generally need to be bulldozed.

Great when you want fast Chinese. It’s the kind you grew up with and crave even though it’s probably not great for you. The quality is pretty good too and they can do tofu versions for vegans and vegetarians.

We ordered take out: Pad Thai and Mongolian beef with salt n Pepper Calamari and Spring rolls(rice paper with vegetable). The Pad Thai had good flavor but the noodles were too much and too stuck together and too little anything else(beef). The Mongolian Beef smelled like the oil used was burnt. No taste either. The vegetable spring rolls had rice type noodles inside but I would say there were no vegetables inside. Maybe a fraction of a lettuce leave. But people, skip this. The salt n pepper calamari … let’s just say you are better off to skip it. I am sorry to say it was a waste of money($ 28.xx plus tip). I am sorry to say I would not order again. I also hate writing one star reviews. It means it was a bad experience for us. It’s bad for business. It also means I wasted money, time, energy and the anticipated pleasant culinary adventure was a complete flop. Yikes.

The overall experience was strange. Still confused why they gave me a chicken wing with my meal.

I got stuck in traffic one time so i decided to eat out. I came to this place which it looked kinda ok. It is more of a fast delivery asian food place then a restaurant but I decided to eat there. It was busy but they were really nice and respectful(Taiwanese Owned Business). Anyways, I got me a really Tasty Spicy Thai Chicken Soup & some edemame to fill up my belly. Its a fast food place and not a restaurant so when you go in do not expect much but food will be great, so no worries!

I love Asian takeout food, especially duck. I was craving it recently and ordered the«house duck» from Sesame Hill. What arrived was not recognizable as duck. It was tough, gristly meat with hidden bits of bone. Any and all«duck» taste was obscured by the sauce, which was sub-par at best. This was a crushing disappointment.

Chinese food in this area is pretty limited so whenever I’m craving food of the Asian variety in this part of Austin, Sesame Hill does the trick. I LOVE their combo fried rice and all of their«healthy» menu options. I also love that everything seems to be made fresh. The food really does taste like it’s homemade. However I gave them three stars because this place is great for drive thru/delivery/phone orders but not so much for dining in. No one really mans the counter inside so you have to figure out a way to get their attention since they’re usually in the back(when ordering inside). I also didn’t care for their orange chicken(which is usually one of my favorite dishes), but everything else I’ve tried has been ok. Not the greatest asian food possible, but definitely better than the nearby panda express.

I am not sure why this place is even still open. They have the total feel of a place that gave up doing anything unique or interesting years ago. I only had one dish but it was Pad Thai which is one of my favorites. This was the worst ever. Bland and with over cooked noodles. We ate inside and its obvious that they don’t really cater to people eating there as the service was TERRIBLE! It was a complete bust and a waste of $ 20. Don’t waste your time.

I wish there was a negative scale. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever — EVER — had the misfortune of eating in my entire life. The best dish was the white rice, and even that smelled like old man. The duck must have been a 100 years old. I seriously threw out $ 35 worth of food and will now go and try to vomit so I don’t get sick. But, the delivery was timely. Seriously. I hate to write such a terrible review, but never eat here, unless it’s fortune cookies.

White People… yea you! Stop writing up 4 – 5 star reviews for Asian places like Sesame Hill. OMG. I have no idea why people would give this place a 4 star… oh wait, it’s because you guys don’t know what GOOD Chinese food is. I realize that people that live in the SW part of ATX are in desperate need of a good Asian food joint, but don’t let desperation be the judge of your taste buds. Okay…now that I’ve gotten that off my chest. This place is a solid 2.5 stars at most. Husband got the chicken chow fun which was pretty decent. I got the pan Asian noodles… which essentially was stale noodles soaked in gravy. Egg drop was pretty standard… hot and sour soup was pretty spicy but good. Fried chicken wing was crispy and I mean crispy like you can bang on your table like a drum kind of crispy. I know this place is convenient and right off the freeway, has a hole in the wall feel, cheap, nice friendly service but people… this place does not get 4 stars! GTFO of here.

The food, to me, was good at sesame hill. We got to-go, to eat at home. We got two lunch specials which included general Tso’s chicken, twice cooked pork, egg rolls, two things of fried rice, and hot and sour soup. My dad said that the hot and sour soup was super salty, but to me it was just a little hot. The rice was a little plain, so I put some of the general Tso’s chicken sauce on there to make it taste better. The broccoli tasted good and fresh. The hot and sour soup tasted delicious! The only thing missing was the spiciness, though. The entire lunch was less than twelve dollars!

For Chinese delivery, this place is pretty good. They are located in the strip mall next to Red’s Gun Range and Boomerz. They have options for vegetarians and also a customization menu where you choose your protein, veggies and sauce… I recommend: Moo-Shu Pork Beef Chow Fun Egg Drop Soup Hot and Sour Soup Pepper Steak They have a small dining area, but they also have a drive thru for fast to-go orders! This is obviously not your traditional authentic Chinese food, but for Chinese-fast-food, it definitely hits the spot!

Moving check list… 1) Setup cable, internet and electricity(check) 2) Unpack boxes(check) 3) Find a great Chinese delivery(CHECK!!!) I am so happy that I found a new Chinese delivery in my new neighborhood. The food is really tasty, delivered fast, and affordable. We had the Moo Shu Pork, Mongolian Beef, and Beef Chow Fun… All excellent(and suggested by my Chinese friends, so you know it’s good)!
