So their burgers are awesome(though I’m bummed they no longer come with a side. Seriously, why a la carte?) As much as I love brunch food, I’m not super impressed by their’s. The poached egg on my benedict was kind of watery. What I absolutely love though is their patio and how dog friendly they are. I went on Sunday after a morning at Auditorium Shores with my pup. They brought him a bowl of water and even have an adorable little doggy menu with doggy«ice cream.» Also, there was no wait at 1pm on a Sunday for patio seating.

First of all I want to give this place more stars… the drinks are very boutique and what I would call«old world». But, every time we come here the service is hit or miss.

Very impressed with the friendliness of the employees. I have never been to a restaurant where I was treated as good as this place treated me. I will for sure be back and I will continue to give you my business, so expect me to be a regular :-)

We always have fun going to this place to either have a couple of drinks and or having an appetizer or dinner. Breakfast is awesome. What I’d like to know is if with the open carry law going into affect… is the restaurant going to allow customers to carry guns inside. It will make a difference to us on future visits. We don’t believe in this law.

I went for lunch. Both my friend and I had soup and salad. My Cesar salad was okay. The spicy tortilla soup was very thick and not very tasty. I only tried a couple bites and I love tortilla soup. I was hungry right when I got home. The waiter, Stan, was great. His energy and enthusiasm almost made up for the soup.

Came here on a quick date with the husband after getting him from work. We just wanted a quick drink. ½ priced appetizers till 7pm, so we got the chips and queso and the pork sliders. Both pretty good, but nothing spectacular. The Bloody Mary was pretty good and we got it with Titos infused vodka with sundries tomatoes, peppers and garlic. Gave the bloody a good taste.

I was told to go here and order a Bloody Mary, the best in the city from a very reliable source. They make there own mix. I am always game to try a bloody mary. It wasn’t the best I have ever had but it was pretty comparable. I also ordered a few happy hour apps. The black bean nachos, which were huge and just ok. The fried green beans, I am pretty sure they were the ones from a box and not fresh made but they were not to bad. And the Polenta fries. They were also ok. Prob won’t eat here again but I will most likely be back for a bloody mary in the future.

Mixed emotions here. Man I really love opals! But today was an utter disappointment. The waitress was near a no show on the service. And believe me we tried to be patient, but hey you get your food. Missing items, no return service for salsa or anything like a straw for the drinks… Just not good, I almost decided to get my own refill on sweet tea and it’s not really busy today. Most other days it’s awesome here at opals. Great service good food.

I was going to go with«The Jack Allen of Austin Sports Bars» and mic-drop here, but it occurs to me I don’t know how you feel about Jack Allen’s or sports bars. I confess I’m also antsy to post my 800th review, which I wrote three weeks ago and want you to see it. Impatience does not suit me. So let’s be quick: I have no doubt Opal Divine’s gets loud and rambunctious on game day, but that’s what sport bars are supposed to do. And they have a zillion beers & libations designed to enhance your viewing experience, which sports bars are supposed to do too. Cool to that. But here’s the Jack Allen edge at Opal Divine’s: They’re local, there are three of them, and they all have easy parking(parking is my personal purse hook these days). Apps are half-price during happy hour, and since the last time I was here, they appear to be taking their food seriously — I actually did a double-take with their veggie burger, which came out of nowhere. Surprisingly good stuff. I was here for a special trivia night, they put forty of us in that back closed-off room with a smile and a sound system, and I know our guy Caleb was the hardest working & most efficient server in show business. I wonder if he sees a trivia night as a game day sporting event? Oops, I guess there’s a chance we may have been slightly loud and rambunctious back there too. But that’s what we’re supposed to do. .

On Wednesdays they have cheap(Texas?) beer. This was the main selling point for me and the reason I gave them four stars instead of a mediocre three stars. Otherwise, the food was fine. The atmosphere was fine. There is nothing really stand out about this place except for the nice bar and cheap good beers.

I’m giving this place 3 stars because the burger was *good* but lacking considering the pretty steep price. It was $ 10 for the southwest burger which ended up just being cheese, the patty and guacamole. Okay… I can deal with that… but the fact that I had to order my side and pay for it separately was kind of ridiculous. My husband got the bandera burger and it was good, but had no veggies and was a little mushy. I would DEFINITELY go back and have beer. The pecan porter was awesome and so was the Big bend. I’d love to try the rest of their beer menu, but I’ll definitely eat somewhere else before I go.

Went here for brunch on the 4th of July. We got there just as they opened and were seated right away. The mimosa was one of the best I have ever had! And the biscuits and gravy were perfect! I loved that the kids eat free on Saturdays(until 3pm i think it is.) Our waitress was fabulous! I wish i could remember her name but she had blonde hair and lots of pretty tattoos :) We will defiantly be back!

Went there on a lil date with a new friend for drinks and what I did enjoy was . –the friendly service –the ice cold beers –the margarita selection –the patio cant go wrong with a great patio. While I haven’t tried the food but if the delicious smells floating in from the next table were any indication of the eats they got… I will be tryin them next visit… oh yes, ill be back.

Went here for brunch with my future in-laws and my honey… they were not very busy and are a large space. They have some nice outdoor seating, it was a little chilly so we opted to stay indoors. They have some decent bloody marys but I thought it would have been spicier since there was some habanero infused titos in there. The focus seemed to be on the brunch menu, the benedicts… I have never seen so many of them! I wanted to try them all at once, but settled for the New Mexico benedict with the cholula hollandaise on the side(and boy was it yummy). Honey got the french toast combo, in laws got the austin omelet and the florentine benedict. I loved my bennie, egg was perfectly poached and runny and the hollandaise was a perfect flavor and consistency. My biscuit was not mushy, it was all just well divine. Honey loved his food but did not like that it was all on one plate because the syrup ran all over his home fries and eggs(it was apparently runnier syrup than he realized). The Austin omelet was HUGE and yummy as well as the other benedict. Our server was completely awesome and attentive but not annoying and the perfect amount of friendly. It was hard to stop eating, but I did finally because my stomach raised the red flag. I will definitely be back for brunch! We also stopped by during St Patty’s day briefly for a beer and irish car bomb, and they have quite a selection of beers and very friendly wait staff.

I had only been to Opal Divine for their awesome beer selection and happy hour before today. I love how many drink options they have but never really liked their appetizers. Today I went for brunch and was totally satisfied! Their Bloody Mary was pretty delicious; not just vodka and Zing Zang. I had the California Eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. I love that it came with potatoes and a side of fruit. Their patio is pretty big and it’s awesome that they allow dogs.

I don’t know that i’d go so far as «Opal Devine» — I might go «Opal Mediocre.» That being said, this has been our brunch destination for the last few weekends, and while I was not blown away, I was not so irritated that I’d never try it again. Their main, glaring problem is consistency, or rather the lack thereof. Sometimes when we go for brunch, I can wrangle real hashbrowns out of them, other times, they stand staunchly by their«hashbrowns are ONLY for weekday breakfast» mantra. Speaking of, they started offering week day breakfast, then there was a paper sign in the door modifying the hours, and most recently the waitress told us that they are stopping week day breakfast because they didn’t attract enough business. Maybe now they can serve me hash browns on the weekend. Other areas of inconsistency are: 1. Eggs over medium can meananything from firm gel yolks to runny yolks and whites. 2. French fries are hot and crisp, or soft and limp. 3. Coffee is piping hot or stone cold.(Try heating your cups) 4. Cream gravy is thick and clumpy or watery. 5. Pancakes are crisp, light, and fluffy, or like they’ve been through a car wash. 6. Service is enthusiastic or barely present. This place just needs to figure out whether it wants to suck or be decent, and then do that all the time so I can either become devout of cut cord. Based on the attempt at offering a weekday breakfast serving and then pulling it so quickly, that points to some potential financial instability, so who know what will happen. For now, I will likely forget how average they are and make the mistake of going back a few months from now, trapped in a malaise of semiconcious, groundhog day-like repititive visitation, rejection, forgetting, rinsing, and repeating until it just gets so bad that i won’t tolerate it, or they go out of business.

I’m really disappointed with this place! I’ve been here many times and have had their veggie burger & fries(love the fries), but then they«new and improved» their veggie burger and well… I don’t eat it anymore. :(. The drinks have been decent in the past & I love the dog friendly patio. Tonight, however, was a real bummer. The first margarita I ordered tasted like orange juice. They swore up and down that there was no OJ in it, but it was gross. I compared it to my friend’s margarita and it not only looked different, but also tasted different. Hers was perfect. Mine was icky. They made another one, but it was only marginally better. At least it wasn’t totally gross. The real kicker was the food. I specifically ordered the hatch chili hummus because it said it came with BAKED pita chips(trying to order a bit healthy after the holidays). Most places serve hummus with baked or warm pita chips/triangles. When it was served, the pita chips were obviously fried. Yuk. If I wanted something fried, I would have ordered the fries that I love so much. Yuk. When I pointed out the menu to the manager to show him that it very obviously stated baked pita chips, he was a little flaky about it. No real apology or offer to make it better. So, I left thinking this place kinda sucks now. It has definitely gone downhill in the past year or so with the bad drinks, the not-so-great«new» veggie burger and their attitude. I ended up meeting a friend at Chuy’s for good margaritas. Bummer… Opal Divine’s used to at least be a good place for drinks. Sad.
