Great food. The burgers were delicious. A bit chilly inside with all the traffic headed to the patio but still a great experience. Service was excellent.

Technically a 3.5 stars. They had a lot of stuff on their menu & I was so hungry I wanted to order them all. Since our first experience wasn’t too bad I would like to go back & try other items. Food: My husband & I shared the New Mexico Benedict which was pretty good. Had a good flavor to it. The pork was pretty juicy & the eggs were cooked just right(which is a huge deal when it comes to benedicts). Their hollandaise sauce wasn’t bad either. I would order it again, but after I’ve tried their other benedicts first. :) It came with home fries which I liked a lot. It wasn’t too seasoned & it had a nice crisp to the skin. I also ordered a short stack of their sweet cream pancakes. It was pretty tasty. It had a nice light crunch on the outside & fluffy on the inside. It was a good size too & came with 2! My daughter shared the chips & queso with her friends at another table so I didn’t get to taste it but she said it was good. She also had their breakfast taco with bacon & she said it was«ok». She is 10, so take her review for what it’s worth. Haha. The friends we were with had a couple of alcoholic drinks that they seemed to enjoy. Unfortunately I forgot the names & Unilocal doesn’t show their drink menus. I just know one of the drinks had ginger whisky or something. Service: We had a big group & the group in front of us was big too so service was pretty slow. Which I’m pretty good about being patience with considering the circumstance(good company to distract my hunger). Our server was a nice guy. I want to say his name was Eddie. I hope that the next time we go, the food will be just as good, if not, better.

A group of friends and I went here to watch the first democratic debate. The waiter was attentive despite the patrons being very distracted, the food was excellent, and the patio was amazing. We ordered drinks and food and all of us really liked what we got. I am looking forward to going back soon!

If I could, I would give it 0 stars. I went in today on my lunch break with my husband and daughter, who met me at work. We walked in at 12:12PM, and the hostess sat us at 12:14. These times are exact, as I was looking to ensure that I would have enough time to order and eat. The server came over at 12:17, and we ordered our drinks and food right away, and asked her to make it to go since I would need to be able to leave to get back to work. I have a typical one hour lunch break. We ordered a soda, an unsweet tea, and a sprite for the drinks, and a Nutella sandwich for my daughter, and a turkey Reuben for myself, again, to go. When she brought the drinks, that was the first indication that this would not be a pleasant experience. My tea had only a few ice cube in it, and was filled only ¾ to the top, the diet soda for my husband was watered down. The sprite was fine. Remember, I had asked for unsweet tea. Well, she’d brought sweet tea, and I added sugar on top of it. Nasty. Whatever. It didn’t matter overall. So, 12:30 rolls around, and the server comes up and said our food would be out shortly. Another ten minutes. I don’t know where she is. I am getting antsy. Finally, after waiting there for 28 minutes, I ask my husband to take the baby to the car because I needed to get back to work. I asked for the manager so I could cancel my order and pay for the drinks. I told the hostess, then the server, then the bartender that I needed to get out of there to make it back to work on time. The hostess smarted off, and said, «I’m sorry you’re in a hurry!» I popped back that I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry if the staff hadn’t messed up and left us sitting there for thirty minutes. She rolled her eyes and sashayed away. Ok. Awesome CS! So, they kept saying the Mgr. was coming, and all I wanted to do was cancel the order, pay the drinks off, and GTF out of there so I could make it back to work. I work three buildings down. The Mgr. finally came out, and said she took care of everything and that she was sorry. I said I wanted to pay for the drinks, and she restated that it was all taken care of. Ok. Cool, thanks for that, but it doesn’t change the fact that I sat there on my lunch hour for 30 minutes and did not get a chance to eat anything for lunch. Fortunately, my husband was off work today, and he dropped me off at work again, and went to P. Terry’s and got food for my daughter and me, and brought it to me while I was clocked back in and working. Have you ever tried to eat a hamburger(or anything, really) while speaking to clients on the phone? Yeah. Not a great time. This place needs a MAJOR overhaul in their CS approach. I was really surprised when we first walked in that there was virtually no one there. Maybe 5 tables were filled, which is surprising because all of Penn Field was open today. Now I see why no one was there. Who wants to sit in a sticky booth for their lunch break and still not get to eat!!! Opal Devine’s is not devine in any sense of the word.

Opal Divine’s boasts a huge bar and is the place to be for great happy hour specials and large outdoor seating. The food is pretty average, but you’re not here for the food. Plenty of parking at this location and they offer wifi.

Atmosphere was great, we were walking by when we heard music and decided to try it out. Let me just say, their nachos SLAM. I’m not sure what they use as the base, it’s not quite a chip nor tortilla, it’s like a nice crispy base. It’s a bit spicy, and VERY filling if you plan not to share. Potato skins were good, you can’t really mess this up but cheese was evenly dispersed(some places just glob it on one side unevenly) so those were good. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I ordered the Pepinorita cucumber drink, it was terrible, no taste of cucumber, honestly just tasted like water with a hint of tequila/lemonade. Did not even drink half of it. No sign of «muddled cucumber»!!

Well, that was disappointing. After previously been to Opal Divine’s twice for dinner and leaving satisfied, my boyfriend and I decided to try it for brunch today. And it was a completely different experience than what we had had after 5pm a few months back. He got the Alabama Benedict and I got the eggs-lox-toast combo. Although his plate was satisfactory I do not think it can justify the cat food that I got on my plate. I frequently get Lox for brunch and have at a variety of restaurants so I am pretty familiar with how the dish should be served– and this was far from it. I am 99.9% sure the Salmon was canned and they put about 2 pinches of it in soggy scrambled eggs with some chive. There was a mere 1 teaspoon of cream cheese mixed into it, and then 1 slice of toast on the side. It was really terrible to the point that I asked our server if that was how it usually is plated. He said yes and I will admit that it was a tad awkward. Anyways, very disappointed Opals. The server was a bit slow as well but that was minor in comparison to my Lox fiasco. Don’t think we will be returning with so many options here in Austin. I think the waiter did feel bad because he did not charge us for our drinks. And my boyfriend picked up the tab because he genuinely felt bad that I got ‘that’ as my lox dish. Maybe their other meals are better! But I can’t say anything positive about my personal experience.

I’m giving them a 3 star rating because the somewhat pricey food wasn’t that good, but the service was fine and the alcohol selection is fantastic. I’d give it 4 stars for the bar and 2 for the food, but since I went, a friend told me he liked their fish and chips. I’ll check it out again sometime and if the fish and chips are good, I’ll bump it up to 4 stars. The first time I went, I ordered the fried chicken. The quality of the meat was not that high, and it was moderately pricey. Maybe if I had more to drink, I wouldn’t care so much about the food quality or price.

Pretty cool place with a nice big patio. We were looking for a place that served brunch on a Saturday and were pleased with our experience at Opal’s. I don’t think they had any brunch drink specials but I would highly recommend to order the drink with muddled strawberries, mint and elderflower liquor. Very refreshing. Food was good as well.

I come to this location frequently because I live nearby and can practically walk there. Yet, I usually get to go food instead of eating at Opals because of the horrible service. The waitstaff usually takes forever to get orders and they usually do not come by for refills. When I do eat here, I try to ask for the check when my server brings the food to avoid being there for another 45 minutes. They do have a new server with green hair who is a notch above the rest. But good luck having a good experience here if you have Brandy as a waitress. It’s a shame the service at this location isn’t better because it would be such a nice location for St. Ed’s students to hangout and drink with friends. Also, the French onion soup, when they have it for soup of the day, is awesome! Wish they’d have it as soup of the day more often!

Opal… cool lay out, big patio, lots of TVs, big bar and next door to a cigar shop. So much potential. Sadly, their food is just OK and their drinks are nothing special. Also, their service leaves more to be desired. They do have geeks who drink on Saturdays which is pretty cool.

Stopped by only for drinks after a gigantic Cinco de Mayo dinner down the street at El Borrego de Oro. This place is your typical local sports bar I guess. There’s an outdoor area that we didn’t take advantage of due to a torrential downpour that was taking place(although I believe part of it was covered). They’ve got a lot of beers on draught which always makes bb happy, and they have a good tequila and whisky selection. Bb ordered a «vertical» of Laphroaigh which is like a scotch flight — a sampling of 4 kinds of Laphroaigh for a bargain at $ 15. It’s presented very fancily and literally comes on a silver platter. I was really in the mood for some specialty cocktails and better ambiance so we moved on as soon as the rain let us.

My friends and I stopped in one Saturday morning for brunch and mimosas. The food was good. I had biscuits and gravy with sausage and potatoes. My favorite part was the mimosa :) There was hardly anyone inside that morning and the staff were friendly. Also, the bathrooms were clean. I’d like to go back for dinner sometime and sit outside on the patio!

This review is for the food. If you go for drinks at HH you will be happy. But the menu hasn’t changed in years except the prices. Please…update the menu. The special of the day is the only bet.

Place looks so chill and food smells delish… that being said: orderd a lunch special of a Cesar salad and soup. Salad comes back and I find a hair in it. So short staffed that it’s forever before I can even tell someone about it. Get a new salad, only to find a bug in it! Again, forever before I can let anyone know– next time salad comes back with a bug. Bottom line– manager comps only my salad and charges me for the rest of the meal. Never. Again.

I love this location the best. Laid back and über causal so you can relax. Colleen helped us tonight and she was on point. WHOKNEW, it was trivia night there and we knew many of the answers cause we’re old. There is a wonderful selection of beers to satisfy anyone. We had a wonderful meal and the answer was«Bohemian Rhapsody».
