The wait staff was nice and attentive. This review is not about them. I realize this is a place that serves mostly beer. I get that so when someone like me comes in and orders a mixed drink, salty dog, I hope I get a true vodka and REAL grapefruit juice drink and not a sugary mixed drink. Sadly that was not the case. it was this sugar pink pretend grapefruity stuff. UGH! I did not drink it. I hope maybe management will read this and correct their ordering to be real fruit juices. The group I belong to frequents this bar regularly. I hope the next time it will be better. My waitress was sweet enough to come get it after a while and brought me a vodka and soda. Not something I would spend money on, but she was trying to be helpful.

I have been here numerous times, and with each visit the food has been amazing and delicious. The live music is always enjoyable, and the atmosphere is usually at just the right state. However, the service has been consistently terrible. I went on Sunday evening(12⁄27) with a friend. They were clearly not busy enough to have their waitresses/waiters out checking on their tables at a steady pace, considering our waitress spent most of her time a few tables away from us texting on her phone and laughing with coworkers and what looked like some friends who had stopped by for a visit. I had to go ask for a waitress to take our order. A young girl with long light blonde hair took our order, but rarely came back to check on us. I guess since her friends were there, she couldn’t be bothered with doing her job while on the clock. This is not the first time I have had issues with their staff, and every time I go back to the restaurant they never seem to get better. Their lack of good service(constantly having to check up on our waitress/waiters to find out where our food was, where our drinks were, why they were watered down, etc.) makes for a very unpleasant visit.

Food here was good. had a blackened chicken sandwich with the calamari and some beer. The food itself is worth a 7 out of 10. What’s not good here is the service… forgot to order our sides and also forgot to get us our to go box. I get it that it’s busy there, but if it’s so busy then why is there not more waiters there helping out? Sheesh. It was only a minor hick-up, but enough for me to give this place a 3 instead of a 4. It must also be noted that the waiter gave us the calamari half off for forgetting to order it, which is good too. Anyways I might come back, but only to try out more of the food.

I used to go to Baker’s St. almost every night. I left Austin for seven months and ever since I’ve been back, the service has been on a steady decline. I’ve been ignoring it and trying to sit myself in a section of a server who I’ve known and known to be good, but last night just rubbed me the wrong way. The female bartender working the patio(Kayla? Kaylee?) was once of the most atrocious bartenders and should reconsider her job title. Not only did she throw away my unfinished drink(shit happens, I get it), but it took me ten minutes to get her attention(as her closing duties were clearly more imperative than her customers) and by then it was 2am and TABC law prohibits the sale of alcohol after 2. I get it. I’m in the industry. However, the way she handled the situation was by far the rudest I have handled in a long time, and genuinely felt as though it had been MY fault she threw away my unfinished drink. The food is great and they have fantastic specials during happy hour and their rotating daily specials, and Bakers has been a sort of haven for me, but with the new additions like this girl or whatever is going on behind closed doors, it’s the slowly emerging crap of service that will start rubbing off on others and will slowly lose valued, loyal customers.

This was a pretty cool place. I never even realized just how many bars are on S Lamar until I went to this place. It’s really spacious, so there’s always a place to sit. They have a pretty nice selection of beers and ciders here as well. The food is also incredibly tasty. On the weekend, they have bands come in to play. It’s a great place to listen to music, enjoy some beer, play a few bar games, and have a good time with friends.

This place is cool; I stop in more. I had the fish n chips. Its not worthy of 5 stars, but 4? hell yeah. The service was great. The interior was cool. Service was great, iced tea remained full and lemons and tartar sauce came out shortly after I asked for them. Parking might be a problem here sometimes. The bathroom was clean.

I hate to leave awful reviews but this place genuinely makes my soul sad. Some things should be sacred. I consider both Sherlock Holmes and Proper British Pubs both things that should be. Baker Street manages to appropriate both while failing to capture the charm of either. All the grime of a London pub with none of the character or history. Some themed menu items(Burgers are delicious yes. But an egg on one doesn’t make it remotely European) but never quite hit the mark. The service is good I’ll concede that. We had lovely wait staff and the drinks were pretty reasonably priced. But the whole concept of the place simultaneously makes my skin crawl and my heart homesick for somewhere people understand that fish and chips is not our national dish. For the same reason I wouldn’t go to a sports bar in London(they’re terrible, no one makes wings properly and even their chips and salsa are awful), you won’t catch me anywhere near another ‘pub’ in Texas. Maybe it’s just disappointed expectations for this far-away-Londoner — but it’s a hell no from me.

Fun place. AWFUL waitresses /waiters. Never approached our table once. Had to go to the bar to order. Not exactly what you want when you go to dinner. You have ONE job. Seriously.

Surprisingly good food and well made drinks. Fun atmosphere and cheerful waitresses for the most part. The overall design and layout of this place is sure to please most patrons. The outside bar and seating area alone could make for a nice little café. It’s even possible to catch a live band and most likely they won’t make your ears bleed. Parking on Lamar is usually a nightmare but you won’t have any problems at Baker Street. Overall Charlie Murphy gives this place two thumbs up. It’s south Austin so be prepared for the hipster outbreak… they will attack you with liberal/California opinions and a severe sense of entitlement. Not to worry, a fun and positive outlook on life usually scares them off. Just leave the beard oil at home just to be safe. Only thing that could make this place any better is midget wrestling or an ice cream bar with sprinkles :)

Good place for drinks. I hear the fish and chips is good but I have only come to drink here. Next time I will try the food.

Absolutely the worst burgers we had in a very long time. The venue is quite nice, beer is cold and music is good. However, the food is horrible. What they call«sirloin» on the menu was no doubt a pile of ground chuck overdue for discard. Paddies were undercooked and smelled. The flavor was non-existent, fries were barely warm, sugary tasting buns were too sweet. Folks, this is a good place to have a few cold ones with friends: The bar but NOT a place to eat by any means: the failed grill

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good place to chill and drink a beer. Outside seating is always perfect, indoor can suck if there’s a band since they’re usually too loud. Staff is always super friendly and ready to help, prices are better than most, and the environment is great for just chilling and talking with friends. The live bands are indoors from what I’ve seen, however I’ve only liked one of the 4 – 5 bands they’ve had. Usually we sit outdoors, which is a great environment.

I was in here for dinner and drinks, started playing a game of pool when a guy that saw I just paid for the table asked if he could play me and I said no thanks. He continued to harass me, so I told him to get lost. He cursed at me. I went to the manager and the manager after talking to the guy said he wasn’t going to kick him out or anything, even though that guy wasn’t paying for drinks or food like I did. He said to me «what do you want me to do about it», so I ended up leaving cause I didn’t like the way I was being treated. I called the next day and wanted to speak with the GM. I got a manager and told her what happened, I told her I wanted to speak with the higher up(GM). Know one called me, no surprise to how badly I was treated the day before. I think it was seen as a joke. Needless to say I wont be coming here anymore and I will tell everyone I know who wants to go here or work here about how bad this place is.

Came in to see funk mob but the service was terrible. Not sure if they don’t care or are actively hoping to drive new customers away. I spent two hours standing at the bar for drinks which consisted of two beers and 6 shots(straight vodkas) for $ 70 — so even the starving soviet could drink cheaper and for better service, I’d recommend mcdonald’s. Skip this place– unless you’re there to ask hipster losers for the change their parents can spare… Even Then good luck.,

The English burger is outstanding. The bread is buttery goodness and the burger is well prepared. Fried eggs should be standard on burgers

This is a bar which is perfect in the right time and place. I like to come here on weekends to play pool. They have two pool tables, which are orange –UT-, and 3 dart boards in a back room. They always have fun live bands which makes the atmosphere nice. There’s usually some large group dancing and partying it up. I’m actually surprised this place doesn’t get more packed on nice days. They have a beautiful and large deck out front with a separate bar. Their Happy Hour could really be improved as the best is usually a $ 1 off drinks and one or two beer specials. Still, for the atmosphere, pool tables, and beer selection, I will continue to return. It doesn’t hurt that I can walk here either.

I felt like watching the game and getting something to eat and happened upon Baker Street. The little guy behind the bar got angry when I asked for a water so I got up and left. If dealing with a rude and agitated staff is your thing, this place is right up your alley. I’m in charge of planning my corporation’s events and was considering Baker St. for an upcoming holiday party. They are no longer a consideration. To management, your rude bartender is costing you business. I’d suggest reminding your employees that customers should be treated with respect. Some people who don’t drink go to bars to socialize, eat, and watch a game. Your business apparently does not cater to this type of person. I guess you have to be an irresponsible drinker to get decent service in this establishment.

Drink specials all day Sunday and NFL ticket! $.99 mimosas on Sundays!!! We’ve been here for Sunday night games and Sunday brunch. Their brunch menu is decent, but the best part is that they serve $ 0.99 mimosas from 11 – 3. You basically get champagne and help yourself to any of their 6 flavors: orange, pineapple, grapefruit, etc. The outdoor area is also very dog friendly — they even provide bowls and treats! The servers are all very nice and your drink is always filled :)

Another update of another frequent haunt. I am adding another star because I am digging this place a little more and am almost a regular. I have never ever been inside so I know nothing about the faux British Pub concept. Step outside on the deck with massive oak shade trees. It is the best within miles. I can personally swear by the wings and burgers, you will not be disappointed. I know not Brit food but who eats that anyways? Check out great happy hour, nice draft selection and all around chill deck. I am serious! Yes the service can be hit or miss but who cares when a big beer is in front of you. They have upped their game and I have no idea about the Brit thing. They even have weekly crawfish boils in season. Who knew crawfish was a British food anyway?
