Personal Defense Readiness ATX

I had a wonderful time taking the PDR workshop taught by Jaimy. It’s always a little scary to learn something new in a group setting, especially something as intense as self defense, but Jaimy (and his lovely assistant Shane) made sure everyone met each other right off the bat and set an easygoing tone for the day.
Every skill we learned was demonstrated multiple times before we tried it out on our partners, and some of the moves, honestly, seemed like magic tricks. I couldn’t believe how incredibly simple some of the techniques were at holding back or bringing down a man very literally twice my size. There were a few other small girls in the class, and once we all got comfortable with the skills, we were able to use them on other people in the class, regardless of their size.
The best thing about this is that it was so simple to learn and followed a very basic logic, and I feel like I’d instinctually turn to these techniques without much thought if I were ever in a dangerous situation. I am recommending this to all the women I know.
