Didn’t give us enough meat to begin with so we had to order extra meat on the side. Broth wasn’t hot enough as it took me a while to mix in the cold noodles. And most importantly, I found a long piece of hair in the bowl after finishing half of it.

After a trip to Vietnam, we were looking for a phở of comparable quality and this is one! We tried the #2 phở and the #24 bun. Both were good, but we didn’t understand the plate of greens. There were the usual bean sprouts, lime wedges and basil but not clear why lettuce leaves were provided as we had nothing to wrap in them. The iced Vietnamese coffee was also very good. Service was good. Our wait person was very knowledgeable about the dishes and able to help us make our choices. Service from the kitchen was a little slow, considering it was not busy, but we don’t know how many people were in the kitchen. The restaurant was clean and they seated people so they could clean other sections.

Pretty good Phở and pork. I had not tried Vietnamese food before(shame on me!). We got recommended this place from some friends. Thankfully, the food is pretty good. I am not acquainted with Vietnamese but I am always looking for new things to try. This was great and the noodles were perfect(as was the pork). Great place to eat!

Food: The phở was amazing, lots of meat and the soup didnt have msg. Large portion for the price. I would come back again for the phở. Price: Cheap for the portion Service: My friends and I showed up right before they closed, and the servers were so gracious and allowed us to order. I also liked that they didn’t charge gratuity for a group of 6. Location: Located in the square with an Asian market.

Had the small phở with brisket and other meats. Think I got #29. And added egg rolls which were crunchy and full of meat. Decent meal. Didn’t like how they gave only one lime when there were 2 people.

Wait time is horrible, I was sat and left at my table for at least 10 minutes with no one coming to take my order or even offer suggestions. Not to mention, once I finally ordered by asking someone for help, the food took about another 15 minutes to come out… First time here and the last!!! Compared to phở Saigon, this food is mediocre and they don’t give you much meat/veggies. Phở Saigon, I am so sorry I ever doubted you and your quickness/deliciousness!!! I will never go anywhere again! :)

I had better phở, but this place is the best in Austin. The broth isn’t too dark… and it seems it doesn’t have as much MSG compared to other phở joints.

Pros: –vermicelli portions are huge –several bowl size options with phở –good place to come with groups; lots of seating –fresh veggies, good noodles Cons: –service and management needs serious work. Remember what number you order and make sure they write it down correctly… They came out with a beef vermicelli, and no one in my group ordered it… The guy just stood there for a long time waiting for one of us to take the bowl. I said I ordered pork, and the guy argued that someone ordered a beef and a chicken. One of the girls working made another comment — «But the beef is good.» I decided to try it to not give them a hard time… The beef was good, but I ordered pork… And then I found out later I had to pay $ 2 more for the beef. –if you’re into the feeling full and having food coma, then you might not mind eating their phở. Though the broth is flavorful, there are other places that offer non msg phở that’ll not make you feel so bad afterwards. Neutral: –Order at your table and pay at the front

After trying many, many phở places in Austin and Washington DC, nothing compares to Phở Dan. I’ve been coming here on and off for the past 5 years and nothing beats the #1 Phở small bowl with cilantro and onion. The broth’s flavor profile varies slightly from time to time but is usually very consistent. Only gotten an off tasting bowl with old meat once in the past 5 years. Well balanced flavor with no one spice standing out, as it should be. Definitely must try!

Great phở for vegetarians! They have a few options that include either tofu, tofu with broccoli and carrots, or just no tofu at all(basically just noodles and broth). There may have been one more option but I can’t remember it. The broth was delicious and fresh. The noodles and tofu were also good quality and perfectly cooked! Also the restaurant smells good and clean unlike some other phở restaurants I’ve been to in Austin(i.e. Phở Saigon). I think there staff could have been a little more attentive but to be fair, I went on Christmas Day for lunch and it was very busy so it may not always be that way. Vegetarians need to check this place out! It’s definitely the best vegetarian phở I’ve had in Austin!

Some of the best Phở in Austin. I used to live nearby and loved it now that I’ve moved I go out of my way to revisit their delicious broth. Always fast and friendly service. 10⁄10 soups. Would soup again.

Phở-licious! Coming from Houston, where we definitely don’t lack in phở places, I can tell you that Phở Dan has SOLID food. I’ve been trying to find some decent Asian food in Austin, and Phở Dan is probably the closest so far. Their steaming bowls of phở(even the small sizes) are very very filling. I can’t even finish a small bowl. I’ve been here a few times, and I have yet to try their rice plates, which are next on my list of things to try here. The phở, vermicelli, and their grilled pork spring rolls are excellent! They give a good balance of meats and noodles in the bowls and for the price, definitely come enjoy a bowl of phở here!

Decent, clean phở place with a lot going for it. The broth tends to be a little on the salty side without a lot of freshness to it, though that could be due to the late hour of our visit. Noodles and rice dishes are standard, egg rolls were cooked fresh to order. Recommended if you’re in the area. This place scores a 3 on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

+1 star based on my last visit. Service has improved. Maybe it’s because we were the only people there at 11am on a Saturday, maybe it’s because I bitched about never getting my drink refilled on Unilocal… there’s no way to know. Still the freshest, most abundant side veggie plate in town.

Best phở restaurant in Austin! Yay! Finally found my go to spot. I’ve been searching for a good phở place and after trying five places my coworker recommended me this restaurant. Definitely didn’t disappoint! The portions are big and they give you a lot of meat. We also got spring rolls(pork and shrimp) and eggs rolls. The egg rolls are better!

If you are vegetarian there is very basic and bland options. The tofu summer rolls are boring, the peanut sauce lack lustre. If you are non vegetarian I hear it’s good but is there better? More than likely.

Some of the tastiest Phở I’ve had. I do frequent another place to get my Phở fix but have to say this place is pretty dang good. Broth is flavorful, small is plenty and the service is on point. Added to my list of favorites for Phở.

First of all, it should be 4 ½ stars. Phở was excellent, had the #19, beef phở with everything, and I rate phở by the broth without any additives, and this is one of the best I have had. Small bowl was 6.75, iced coffee was nice and strong, perfect taste. The place was very clean, service was excellent as well. I will for sure be coming back here.

One of my favorite places to eat phở at! They have many types of phở which is great, but I usually only order Phở Bo Vien since it’s my favorite. The water isn’t that great though it taste like fountain water [gross.] The Vietnamese coffee is average it’s not the best and not the worst, which make it drinkable. Overall I still think it’s a good place to eat at during lunch or with friends though the parking lot is a bit small.

Never again will I come here for phở. I’ve given it three tries. Most of the time, I don’t feel that strongly about hating any dishes unless it is too salty that it’s inedible. But the last time I came here because a friend wanted to go there, I really tried to eat it, but I just couldn’t swallow it down. The soup first of all was lacking any flavor whatsoever. Tasted like a greasy bowl of water, and it wasn’t piping hot and steaming like it should be. My bean sprouts still had a crunch after sitting in the bowl a while. It was very disappointing. If you’ve had a good bowl of phở, then you would know that this isn’t good phở here. 1 star is for the the restaurant being spacious and fairly cleaner and more organized than other phở places in Austin.

This has become my go to place for fresh, refreshing & flavorful Vietnamese flavored. It sits in the middle of two other amazing restaurants & is definitely holding its own. Will keep coming back. Even the small bowl is too much for me to finish! But bring your appetite & find out if you’re the XL bowl person!
