I look for several things when checking out a new place for the first time. Short and Sweet combines an inviting atmosphere and customer service which made me feel right at home. Because it was my first time in, I decided to try both some coffee, and a frozen yogurt. The staff helped me choose coffee based on my preferences, and I almost immediately gravitated towards the Fresh Durian frozen yogurt, based on the reputation of the fruit alone(if you’re not familiar, this is the fruit famous for its distinctive smell). Everything tasted delicious! The homemade yogurt was delightful. Sweet without being overly sugared, and the coffee packed one hell of a punch, as promised! But what really stands out to me about Short and Sweet, was the customer service. Very sweet, and focused on building repeat customers. Well, it worked! I’ll certainly be back!

Very sweet locally owned tea and ice cream shop. The lady that runs this joint is so nice! I like the Thai Tea w/boba and my kiddo likes the Blue Bell ice cream,(duh). I tend to favor less sweet bubble teas and she has a couple of flavors that are good for that, as well as all the standards. The crazy drink literally looks like a magic unicorn puked in a cup haha! I like to eat phở next door and then come here for desert.

Waited more than an hour for three drinks. Left without getting money back because line at the cash register was too long and not moving. Unbelievable.

The place was packed when we walked in and we were not sure what was going on. After ordering and paying it all became clear… the cashier said it would take 20 minutes for our 3 avocado milk drinks. Yes. She said TWENTY minutes for avocado, milk, condensed milk, ice, and pearls in two of them. We realized the crowd was not happily hanging out, but everyone looked miserable. They were all waiting for drinks. One order that was called was put in the ice cream fridge and never picked up. As we waited I noticed the whole store was different. When they opened over 5 years ago they served Asian dried fruits and preserves in large glass jars. All of that was gone. It dawned on us that there were different owners. It took over 30 minutes to get our drinks. When it was ready, I let the cashier(who was now making drinks) know that 30 minutes is too long. Even 20 minutes is too long. I shared that it would be better to let people know BEFORE they order and pay, that the wait will be 30 minutes. She said she told us. She was pretty rude about it. There was no attempt at service recovery. Then… we discovered one of our drinks was not correct. She argued that she wrote it down in her notebook. They have no point of sale system, it’s simply a spiral notebook with columns down the page in pen. Each order is delineated by a horizontal line. Pretty rudimentary. Nothing like the POS System at Coco’s where you can actually see the order and know you’re order is being taken correctly and charged correctly. She argued. She begrudgingly added pearls to the cup. Didn’t bother to seal the cup. Put on a different lid, a domed one that was open. And with a biting does of attitude said«that’s the only time» or «only this one time.» Yeah. No worries there. Will. Never. Go. Back. Coco’s from on, or if I’m at the Chinatown Center, I’ll go to Bambu. You should too.

This has to be my number one favorite place to get bubble tea. The service is always prompt, and the quality has been exceedingly consistent. The boba here is always the perfect texture: a bit chewy, but not rubbery or too soft. They offer a variety of smoothies and milk teas, and their Krazy Drink is fantastic, with a smörgåsbord of different textures and a refreshing, complex flavor. They also serve Blue Bell ice cream as well. The owners of the store always make me feel at home and go out of their way to make me feel comfortable and taken care of. They are sweet and a joy to talk to, and my experiences here make me feel honored to give my patronage. The business takes some of the profits to donate to Peter’s Clinic, which goes toward developing healthcare facilities at their home in Vietnam. Such a worthy cause makes me feel that my service here is worthwhile, and I will enjoy being a customer for a long time. The store itself is never terribly busy, so it is a fantastic place to study. They are closed on Tuesdays and they only accept cash for purchases more than $ 5. Those are my only downsides, though, but if I could recommend a bubble tea place in Austin, this is my number one choice. No questions asked.

I’m so happy I’ve found another great drink shop! I’m a die hard Coco’s Café/Teapicoa Lounge girl, but this place is 1 minute down the road from my new job so I had to give it a go. The place is really cute and compact but has plenty of space to hang out with friends. The lady(didn’t catch her name) was SO sweet and helpful. Keep in mind that there is a $ 10 minimum for bank/credit cards. I didn’t know this so I ordered two drinks which put me just under the $ 10 mark. I ordered Milk Tea w/Pearls(my standard drink) and a Banana Milk Tea w/Pearls for later. She was kind enough to not put ice in the Banana Milk so it wouldn’t get watered down! The Milk Tea is really tasty with just a hint of coffee flavor and the perfect amount of sweetness. The Banana Milk also has the perfect amount of sweetness(I took a little sip before storing it in the fridge). I was worried about the sweet factor since I do not have a sweet tooth and only like a little hint but they were so good! The pearls are nicely chewy and mild. I’ll definitely be back!

Went here for the first time and the Crazy drink was so good and addicting. I ordered a few cups Togo and now I got my son into it. If you buy 10 cups you get one free. The lady that make the drinks was so sweet and nice. I didn’t have to wait in line to order.

If you don’t want to deal with the UT/downtown traffic to grab some boba, this is another option to try. It is located in North Austin which was perfect for me since I was driving back home to Dallas. Note, you must spend $ 10 to use your debit/credit card. I bought two drinks to meet that minimum requirement which means I can give you two opinions! I didn’t try the tapioca balls so no idea if they’re good. The taro milk was great. I felt like it was real taro ’cause there were some chunks in the drink(but whether it is real is another matter). It was sweet but not too overly so to the point I can’t drink it. In addition, I also got the krazy drink because everyone on Unilocal seems to rave about it. When the lady handed me the drink, my first thought was, ‘this is like che.’ Che is a Vietnamese dessert and there is one kind of che that krazy reminds me of. It has coconut, jelly, and those tiny little eyeballs(they’re not, I just like to call them that). The taste is very much similar to this one popular Vietnamese drink. My sister like it a lot, but it is kind of pricey. One thing I kind of wished to change is the lady’s attitude. I asked her nicely and one time only if she doesn’t put ice in my drinks and the reason for it was because the ice will probably dilute the second drink on my long drive home. She ranted on about how all the drinks are made exactly the same with ice and gave me a horrible attitude about it. Completely understandable about the ice but geez, a simple yes or no would have been fine. I know boba places that does no ice and they’re fine with it. Anyways, the drinks were overall good and I enjoyed them.

I stopped in here one afternoon so I could sip on something as I made the trek back down to South Austin. It is a cute little spot in the Chinatown Shopping Center on North Lamar. I love how it is decorated inside. I saw a special posted on the counter that they had some sort of jasmine tea, so I ordered that. I quickly found out that they were actually out of the mixture that goes into the creation. I was a little sad but then quickly decided to move on to the Passion Rose Tea. It was ok — a little too sweet for my liking, but definitely still drinkable. I would love to stop in here again to try something else and give them another shot. If I am in the area I will do just that, but will not likely go out of my way to come here.

Before we were on our way back to Houston, we visited this place. After reading some review about this place, i decided to ordered the krazy drink. Oh boy, I loveeeeeed it! Next time I’m in Austin, I definitely going to come back.

The bubble tea here is amazing! They have a great menu and the staff is so friendly. They are also so great with kids. We always make sure to stop in here before we head over to the supermarket. They also seem to be very involved within the community and always have a smile on their faces. It’s clear that we are not the only return customers.

They are so friendly and helpful here. I got blueberry banana smoothie because it’s naturally sweet, tastes wonderful. I also got black milk tea with boba and taro pudding. The boba was ok, not the best, but good. I love the taro pudding that they serve, it tastes different from other places, when i saw it in the case it looked home made, kinda like taro and almond mixed together. Yummy!

I was so addicted to their weird concoction specialty drink-used to be called their wintermelon drink-its so colorful and they pile it up w/diff jellies, puddings and bobas-its so good. I haven’t been back in awhile bc of distance and their price did keep going up but its still something I crave. We love their special homemade funky ice cream too like taro/some other weird Asian flavors-its usually pretty good. Their drinks are fine and they have cute little snacks to buy around the store. The owner is super friendly and really nice too. Can’t wait to go back!

As a first timer here I can say that it was a pleasant experience. I ordered a raspberry cream smoothie with yogurt & it was in my opinion, average. Having been exposed to many tapioca spots in Bellaire, I have high standards for my boba drinks. The two ladies were also very friendly. As soon as I came in they greeted me. I would definitely come again for some tap since there aren’t any tap shops where I live now.

DISAPPOINTEDPREVIOUSCUSTOMER. I ordered a Taro smoothie and was very unhappy from the first sip. My drink consisted of mostly powder and ice blended together. The powder was not dissolved and very chalky tasting. I’ve had the same smoothie at other bubble tea cafes and have never experienced this before. I was also surprised that the minimum for a credit or debit card purchase was $ 10! A medium smoothie is just around $ 5 so I ended up buying a t-shirt for an additional $ 10 in order to make their minimum charge requirement. I’ve been to Short and Sweet numerous times previously and my drinks have always been tasty and delicious! The woman who waited on me was extremely friendly and courteous and apologized repeatedly for the $ 10 minimum charge. I’m not sure what they changed, but I won’t be back. This smoothie experience left a chalky powdered flavor in my mouth.

Short ‘n Sweet — yes, very sweet! They offer a good selection of fruit smoothies and regular bubble teas(mainly the milk kind) and also icecream. The lady at the counter kept recommending the krazy drink, so I ended up ordering that with the wintermelon juice. Wintermelon(also known as white gourd) is a very refreshing drink that is perfect for hot summers!!! You can also fill the krazy drink with any base, such as thai milk tea, coconut milk etc. I have to say it was pretty krazy with all the ingredients inside. purple & yellow & pink pudding, chia, millet, pearls, coconut jelly(different colors) and more that i don’t know the name of. The drink came to $ 5.50, pretty steep for a bubble tea in my opinion, but worth the try with all the ingredients. Next time, I’ll stick with just the regular drinks with no added ingredients. Simple = best for me.

First time here, got the krazy drink(with wintermelon juice). The krazy drink only comes in 1 size and you can either get wintermelon juice or coconut milk with your jellies. I’ll attempt to name what’s in the drink: taro pudding, egg pudding, grass jelly, basil seeds, boba, some green jelly, coconut?, …(that’s the best I can do). The drink isn’t too sweet or too bland — it’s refreshing with right amount of sweetness. Service is friendly here. Décor is nice. Prices are good. You either get the regular size(short) or the large size(sweet). I’ll definitely come here again whenever I’m in Austin. Google maps takes you to the Chinatown shopping center, but not exactly where it’s located. It’s next to the phở and banh mi shop(forgot the names) — right side of shopping center entrance.

The«Short ‘n Sweet» Version: Krazy, Stupid, and so in Love. They offer a good selection of blue bell ice-creams, smoothies, and bubble teas. Its signature drink is called the«Krazy drink», which was the absolute best combination of fill-in’s I’ve ever had. The fill-ins I noticed were: pandan, grass jelly, boba balls, and basil seeds and more. Drink itself was a mahogany-colored, wintermelon flavor that would sweep anyone off there feet. Very refreshing. Fireworks of complimentary flavor. You will fall head over heels. Just as good if not better than Tastea, Tapoica Express, and other hot boba places in Cali. The signature drink is was so well done. Everything was fresh and new and you get to see the special area where they are made. *Interior designs/décor are by the owners daughter. Very family-centered place. *We had time to speak with the owner, who was absolutely beautiful inside and out. 7% of profits made is donated into Peter’s Clinic, a non-profit created in memory of her son. His dream was to open a medical clinic to help the disadvantaged and poor and now this non-profit provides medical care and health education to rural areas in Vietnam . [ Petersclinic.org] You could tell every drink is made from the heart and so its something even more special to experience. So Krazy in Love right now.

Everytime I visit, I always stick to the crazy milk tea. BUT. I recently had the chance to try their smoothie with yogurt, and it is by far THE best smoothie I have ever had. They actually DO use real fruit, and you can actually taste it in the smoothie. I had the strawberry peach with pearls, and it was soooooo good. The strawberry was more powerful than the peach, so I couldn’t taste too much of the peach, but it didn’t matter, cuz the strawberry was sooo good. I could taste some of the strawberry seeds in my drink, and because they used yogurt in combination with the fruit, it has a really unique taste and it’s definitely by far the best smoothie I have ever had. I thought I had gotten over my crazy bubble tea obsession phase, but now I’m obsessed with their smoothies. This place just keeps me coming back!
