Plumage Vintage

I found Ryan and Plumage Vintage & Alterations on Unilocal.He seemed like a nice enough guy and I wanted to give a local young business owner a chance, while Ryan seemed a little aloof I still wanted to think that it was a good idea to let him alter my clothes. I was so wrong.
I would never ever ever trust Ryan to touch any of my clothes again. I brought three dresses to Ryan, two of them needed very basic alterations and one was more of a consultation as it was for my wedding reception and would have been a complete over haul. I wanted to see if Ryan could do the basic alterations before he touched the overhaul.
After three months of calling and asking about if the dresses were done Ryan said two of the dresses were done. On one dress he forgot to take it up to the knee, the neckline was uneven and the dress now pulls under the armpit making it extremely uncomfortable. The other dress was a similar story, he failed to do the alterations to the neckline entirely but did remember to bring this dress up to the knee (a whopping 2 inch alteration). I should have never trusted him to make the neckline alterations, I just wanted to give the guy a chance and what a big mistake that was. I should have taken my dresses and run.
Ryan has had my dresses for over 7 months now, I have called him over 5 times with not a single phone call back, the shop is now of course closed and two of my dresses are still being held hostage. In all of his no communication, odd undependable store hours and unprofessional demeanor I was left with no choice then to scramble to find another dress for our wedding reception and just keep continue calling in hopes that I will eventually be able to get my dresses back.
A lot of this could have been avoided by having communication. A lot of it could have been avoided by just not going to him. I’d be more than happy to change this review if he would call me back and I could get my dresses back.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, self proclaimed Vintage Master and Tailor, is just that. He and his colleague turned an ordinary shopping trip into a one-​of-​a-​kind experience complete with a karaōke show and a youtube video sing-​along. All while Ryan transformed a frumpy grandma dress into a cocktail hour knock-​out.

Ryan runs an amazing little shop and it gets better every time I visit. He has an impeccable eye for fashion and style and he stocks his store with clothing that reflects his talents. He is extremely helpful and listens carefully to my concerns. AND one of the best things about Plumage is that you walk out of there with clothes altered to FIT. Where else can you get all these things in Austin?!

I needed a sparkly dress for a birthday party, and Ryan took this long, frumpy 70’s dress and turned it into an AMAZING summer party dress that fit me like it was made for me! I get compliments every time I wear it and the new style he cut it into looks like the dress was made that way to begin with.
I have seen this man take any shirt and customize it exactly how the customer wants it, or even in ways they didnt know they wanted.

There are Vintage stores and then there is Plumage. The owner runs it everyday and his sence of style and fashion is so right on it will be hard for you to walk in without making a purchase. This guy is so passionate about what he does and how the customer is treated that you will not be disappointed. First did business with him at the City Wide Garage Sale when all he had were racks and boxes, This guy is «Austin Cool». Visit his store and you will be too.

Plumage has an awesome selection, you always try something on. And the concept of the store is unique– a great addition to Austin’s east side!
I found a down vest that I loved there, unfortunately it was too big and had a masculine shape. My disappointment did not last long because in came Ryan Fitzpatrick co-​owner extraordinaire!!! He pulled and tugged on the vest, made some marks. About hour later and with some final adjustments, I had a perfectly fitted vest!!! Not only is Ryan extremely talented, but he is fun to work and chat with. I would definitely recommend him to others and trust him to tailor my favorite wardrobe pieces.

Ryan is an excellent tailor and has great taste in clothes. We met just by talking about music and he’s ended up helping me a lot with my wardrobe. Every pair of pants I bought from him he tailored to fit me. He sold me a nice pair of boots and several nice shirts that I can wear to work. For a stylish look that fits you, you can’t beat Ryan’s clothes or his eye for customizing those clothes to be perfect for you. The man is an artist and a gentlemen.
