Disappointed. We always try to support the local small businesses but it’s incredibly difficult when they provide angry substandard customer service with high end prices. I regret bringing my partner in here to buy a necklace(for our anniversary). Anyway it’s an expensive lesson for me.

The good: I have shopped here for years and they have a wonderful selection of beautiful things. The bad: despite the fact that I have(no joke) spent over $ 15,000 with them, I was unable to return a piece of jewelry my husband recently bought for me. I was offered store credit, but although the jewelry was unworn and less than a week old they would not refund our money. Caveat emptor I guess… Definitely does not communicate that I am a valuable customer… and of course my husband cannot risk getting me a surprise from the store again.

Wonderful, items of jewelry, clothing, home décor and more. This was a great find — we really loved the copper art and tastefully quirky books and home décor. Bought a beautiful necklace that was wrapped in a lovely case and wish I could have spent more time browsing the jewelry of varying price ranges. Loved it!

For the quest of the perfect engagement ring, I’ve been dealing with jewelers for the past 5 months. I’ve had some horrendous experiences(see my review on C. Kirk Root) and I’ve had some extremely positive experiences(mimosas on Saturdays at Calvins!). Unfortunately, Positive Images wasn’t positive by any stretch. Perhaps, I am in the wrong here. Perhaps, spending several thousands dollars on a dainty ring is something I shouldn’t bat an eye at. And, perhaps, I shouldn’t place that much emphasis on a ring that signifies an eternal bond that I’ll be wearing until the day I die. But, then again, I also believe the customer is always right and should be treated accordingly. So, what does that say about me? Deborah and her husband(owners) were friendly and diligent in contacting us when new artists’ work was either coming in and/or had arrived. That is the end of effort they put forth. We found an artist that we positively fell in love with and upon reviewing the artist’s website, wanted information on other pieces and options that weren’t carried in the store. Deborah’s question to us was 1) What is your budget; Which, is sure, a viable question, but at the same time, what does it matter? If I purchase 1K or 7K from you, it is still a sale and we still want answers 2) Am I wasting my time? Yes, she actually asked us if we were wasting her time. Last time I checked, you were selling a good and we were looking to purchase a good. We ask questions, you answer, we give you money, you give us the good. Isn’t this the way it is «suppose» to work? Well, unfortunately, Deborah… you wasted OUR time. We were debating between you and Gallerie Jewelers. Guess who will be getting our money? Not you. Positive Images sells pretty things. They want you to come in and buy as is. They are in no sense a jeweler and they are in no sense customer-service oriented. They want to get the deal and get out. The phrase, «Have it your way» doesn’t apply here and a strong waft of entitlement fills the air. Oh… By the way, it stinks.

I drove past here a million times before I actually stopped in. I always thought it was just a cheezy knick-knack store for West Austin housewives. But a friend told me they had really beautiful fine jewelry by independent artists(rather than corporate, mass-produced Zales junk). Friend was right– they have great, art gallery-quality jewelry pieces at a wide range of prices. The high-end stuff was out of my league but I found a really gorgeous blue diamond necklace for my wife that was within budget. The store clerk was patient and knowledgeable and no annoying attempts to «up-sell» me on more than I wanted to spend. Anyway, I think they should change the name because«Positive Images» sounds like some kind of new age flim-flam store selling magic crystals and incense. That is not this place at all. It is a tasteful shop selling intricate, artist crafted one-of-a-kind fine jewelry(and some interior décor stuff).

When I visit Austin I ALWAYS stop in Positive Images to see the latest selection. This visit I bought something! All the pieces in the store are 1 of a kind made by local artists. Beautiful, original and creative work lines the walls and jewelry cases. Customer service is 6 stars. Ashley helped me order a personalized necklace. She knew a ton about the artist, the stones she used and the gold quality. She could have been on the home shopping channel with her wealth of information.

If you are looking for that special gift, you should definately stop here… Recently when passing this gallery a piece of art caught me eye from the road, yes the road, and if you have ever driven by here it’s usually very busy. I then returned to find out it was a ceramic car that was made by Full Moon Clay Company in California and I immediately fell in love with it… Dennis, the owner, was kind enough to order one for me since that one was already spoken for… And one week later it was there! The highlight for me was the array of art that is available and the professionalism that is reflected in this gallery… A true gem in the world of art! And a big thank you to Positive Images!

This place is fabulous. Their art is quirky and absolutely lovely, and their art and jewelry are all handmade and one-of-a-kind. Amazingly gorgeous. No mass-production. That’s so rare these days, and that in itself is priceless. Okay, okay, so I’m a little biased since my aunt and uncle own Positive Images, but you will not be disappointed! Love, love, love it. Check it out!

Any shopping outing that took us anywhere near W. Lamar meant a stop in this wonderful repository of all kinds of treasures. It was here that we first encountered Brian Andreas’ quirky poems /pictures. And the most unusual ring(gold + diamond + turquoise) that my wife possesses. And a myriad of other treasures that always make me wish that I could win the lottery so I could spend a lot more here.
