Erik at Pro Cycle Works has built two wheel-sets for me as well as performed countless service repairs, diagnoses, and tune ups over the years. His attention to detail, personal touch and dedication to quality is what separates him from the competition. I once went in looking for a replacement saddle and he spent 20 minutes educating me on the different styles, types, and applications and even let me take a few demos to try before making a decision. I never leave his shop without learning something new about cycling, dogs, or life for that matter! When I want to buy a tube or fancy multi-tool, I go to the corner shop. When I want quality work from a trusted and highly skilled specialist, I go to Pro Cycle Works.

Eric Vitela is the master of all things bicycle. It is like having your own personal bike concierge. Very helpful, knowledgable, and honest.

This guy knows his stuff! I just came in to ask some questions and get some moderate repairs done on a bike. He’s extremely helpful and would definitely be someone I’d talk to if I were training for any sort of biking event.

I run a small business — Roadkill Pedicab — in Austin, and depend on Erik to keep my fleet of very specialized, very«weird» British-made pedicabs rolling in tip top condition. Other mechanics have actually AVOIDED working on these because they’re not something they run across every day — very frustrating for me. Not Erik. Unusual part? Erik can get it — and fast. Busy schedule? Erik will find a way to get you taken care of, even including a housecall if neccessary! Awesome, awesome knowledge, awesome skill, and awesome service. Did I mention he’s awesome?

Erik is the real deal. Austin is incredibly lucky to have someone like this representing the sport and culture of cycling. He’s among the best mechanics in the world, yet he’s actually available to the everyday enthusiast like me. You know that anything you find in the shop has passed the most discerning tests, but he doesn’t push anything you don’t already want. He teaches as he talks, so you’re bound to walk away from the shop smarter than when you entered. And I haven’t met a person yet who hasn’t had the best things to say about his integrity. Ultimately, the thing that sets places apart is the quality and experience of the mechanic, and you’d have a tough time finding anyone who remotely compares to Erik. Plus he’s just a really cool and down-to-earth guy.

If you need a new triathelon-ready cycle(not me) or just a ‘tune-up’ on a ratted out mountain bike(me), Pro Cycle Works is the place. Owner Erik Vitela was on of Lance A’s bike mechanics on the USPS team back in the day. He’s a helpful guy and doesn’t mind working on all types of cycles. He’s recently moved to South Austin which makes it all sooo much better.
