Rachael Wilder, LMT

I’ve had stomach issues off and on for 10+ years. Ive tried diets, went to body workers and practiced yoga to reduce the symptoms. Thar all helped, yet chronic belly tension remained and led to low back pain, hip tension, bloating, and I’ve noticed a correlation to anxiety.
I came to Rachael because of a talk she gave at the Herb Bar. She discussed her teachers background of bringing together ancient Mayan practices and realizing it all came down to stomach health. Other teachers I respect have said that as well. After a series of synchronicities reminding me to take care of my stomach, I found Rachael. The more traditionally trained massage therapists I’ve been to haven’t had much to offer for belly massage, so I was curious what she had to offer.
My session with Rachael began with an intake that covered major factors in my life, more than just the physical. I felt heard, seen and understood. I appreciated her awareness of how the body and mind effect each other.
On the table she warned my belly while gently and deeply massaging my neck, shoulders and feet. Points of tension related to the belly. I appreciated her awareness of how the body is interconnected. She was able to clearly explain anatomy and test for tensions effecting my stomach. She showed me how my psoas and ilium were influencing my stomach tension and low back pain, as well as how my obliques were working excessively to support my upper body. As a yoga instructor I was surprised and humbled I hadn’t noticed these things before. It reminded me how necessary it can be to work with specialists.
The session ended with her guiding me through a self care routine that she emailed me. Simple and effective. I can feel the tensions so much more precisely than I could before, and I know how to work with them to let them relax.
Today, the next day, I feel able to feel and sense my belly more than before. I was able to feel into what I was about to eat and choose the thing that felt best to my stomach. I have more awareness of my belly and a simple, effective practice to care for it.
I only wrote this giant review because it is pretty much what I’ve been looking for for the past few years. I just did the session yesterday, so I’m making a reminder to update this review in 3 months to see what the lasting effects are.
Well worth the visit, to me.
