You’ve seen the hot sauce in the HEB cooler. It’s good stuff. I’m glad that even though the physical location didn’t work out for Fernando, he’s still able to produce hot sauce.

R.I.P Mi Gordi’s closed in Feb. 2010. Sabor hot sauce still available at HEB.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I LOVE the«crispy» beef Tacos. They are not crispy @ all, but that is ok, because I prefer corn tortillas over hard shells. Also, the salsa is my all time favorite. It is called Sabor Hot Sauce, and it is available @ Mi Gordis and HEB. The salsa is made on location and is 100% Austin. The down side is that the service is terrible. The people are rude and short with you when you order, and the wait is ridiculous for a taco place. If you order from the window and do not call ahead it will be close to 20 minutes standing out front reading the chronicle is the heat. The order takers actually seem put out that they have to take your order. If you get a chance, please support this place, and maybe they will pick up the customer service. I give it the taco stand 3 stars becuase of the service and the salsa 5 stars for 4 total.

With made to order tacos and migas, Mi Gordi’s is my all-time favorite taco place. Ever. In all of eternity. Seriously. While you can order your taco specially made to your liking, the menu provides you with a variety of choices, all with their creator’s namesake, who usually happens to be part of the family who runs the place. The line is usually long, but the wait is completely worth it, and besides, you can call in your order ahead of time and just swing by and pick it up. and the hot sauce is incredible!(And this is coming from someone who abhors hot sauce) The tortillas are small. or maybe they just fill the taco to the point where the tortilla looks small in comparison, considering you generally can’t close it. The only thing I think I’d change is the time they’re open. weekdays they close at 2, and weekends they close at 1.

way off the beaten path… even when you’re there you wonder if its open. The wait is long for a little taco place… but once you eat a taco you realize its totally worth it! Great food that is very fresh and cooked to order. It is a gem for the neighborhood it supports. Wouldn’t drive across town, but If you’re in the area, check it out!

Most delicious; subtle and fierce at the same time. Included with the breakfast tacos, platters and specialty plates at this hidden roadside stand known as Mi Gordis that jazz piano musician Fernando has manned with his spouse, daughters and sons for years in a strange alternative neighborhood off 2244(Bee Cave Rd.). Don’t come here; we like it weird. Just kidding. No, really, stay away. Buy this sauce at the BEECAVEHEB instead, he’s good enough to turn their corporate heads. You can also find it in the local convenience store Lake Hills Grocery, one block north of Sabor, but I recommend you visit Fernando and try to order anything above three items on a taco. «What is it, your birthday? Whattya think, you’re special?» Nothing like it. Remember to stay away; freaks and one-offs only. Pico Poco is mild, true Sabor is… beyond. Don’t say you weren’t warned to stay away. You’d be lucky to find it on this twisty two-laner.
