I really love, love this place! Sarah is the bomb! My family and I have been going here for a very long time and we have always gotten great service.

This is the only place I go for haircuts! Sarah is so caring and very knowledgable about the perfect hair style that fits you. She even helps me with my declining Korean language skills as well. If you are looking for a great haircut with amazing customer service then this is your place.

This is a great place to get a hair cut at a reasonable price. I’ve been going there for a couple of years now and the owner/hair stylist, Sarah, is very good at what she does. I’m a very satisfied customer and I would definitely recommend Sarah’s skills. They accept walk-ins but it would be better for you to schedule an appointment so that you don’t have to wait.

Perfect every time! I love Sarah, she’s a very hard worker and cares about every customer. Most salons I’ve been to, the stylists don’t care to talk to you, ask you how your day was or what you are up to, but she does! I have found my salon! I have a couple Asian friends that only go here, too because she is very good with Asian hair. And my husband is VERYVERYPICKY with his hair and always wants it a very paticular way and this is the only place he will go!

Very disappointed with the hair cut. You have to tell her exactly what to do, otherwise she just does the minimum. She is not lazy or tries to rip people off, she is not the type of person who can turn a customer general inputs into something impressive. She doesn’t have much creativity or a pair good eyes, so make sure you tell her EXACTLY what you want.

Did a walk in on a Saturday morning knowing the risk of having to wait. Sarah was already working on a clients hair. She had mentioned that she’s book for the day but can make an appointed, so I decided to wait until to choose a day time. But surprisingly, she was really nice to fit me in right after working on the clients hair dye. I didn’t have a picture with me, I just explained what I wanted, shoulder length layered cut. She gave me options of layers. About 30 minutes later, I was very very pleased with my cut! She had cut off about 9 or 10 inches of hair and did a fantastic job! Sarah knows what she is doing. I’m very picky when it comes to hair salons because not a lot of places know how to cut asian hair. Her prices are reasonable, $ 30 for my cut. I decided to give this place a try and will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much Sarah!

I’ve been going to this Korean hair salon to get my haircut for a couple years now(back when it was also known as «Windy Hair Salon») but they’ve recently changed ownership in the last year or so. The main hair stylist(who is also the owner now) is awesome. She will keep me coming back here for my cuts. She’s very sweet, asks to make sure she understands what you want, and does a great job making my hair look natural even right after trimming. Her price for a women’s cut is $ 30(plus tip, of course!) which isn’t the cheapest around… but I think it’s worth it to have somebody who knows how to cut Asian-American hair. You can call the day-of to make an appointment and she can probably fit you in or you can risk a short wait if you prefer to do a walk-in.

5⁄5! I’ve been to Scissor Sound five times. Sarah is a great stylist. She is a master! I show her internet pictures on the phone-she’s smart to consult, with suggestions and views on maintenance before she ACES it! Every time!

I loooove this place! The lady, Wendy, is a total hair pro, just bring pictures and she’ll do EXACTLY what you want. She’s also very sweet and funny but not crazy talkative, which I thoroughly enjoy cause I hate small talk. There’s always K-Pop playing in the background(LOVEIT) and she always gives me little Asian skincare samples. She’s always been able to see me whether I make an appointment days in advance or call 3 hours ahead. I have long hair so my cuts are usually about 30 and I always leave a 10 tip, compared to paying 65+ like I did before the price is right for me. I can’t recommend this place enough, I’ve got my Mom and sister coming here now!

Hands down my favorite hair salon in Austin. Wendy does such a fantastic job at cutting hair, especially Asian-type hair. I normally bring a picture of how I would like my hair to be cut and Wendy never ceases to amaze me. If you cannot speak Korean, it’ll be difficult to communicate. I would suggest bringing a picture of how you’d like your hair to be cut and I promise you that Wendy will do it justice. The haircut is pretty pricey for my taste — usually comes down to $ 20 for me. With that said, I would much rather pay more to have my hair be cut correctly rather than pay less and get a butchered look.

Windy is a professional, if you see the pictures on the wall you would know that she used to work with Korean pop stars. I just love her haircut job! Recommend!

My new favorite place to get my hair cut! They are naturals at styling and I always leave very happy. They have a pretty cool boutique of extras like jewelry and makeup. They take walk ins no appointment needed which I love since I don’t plan anything, and they’re not pretentious like so many places are becoming in Austin.

I was here a few days ago while I went to Texas to visit my cousins and I am super pleased with how my hair turned out! I had a permanent perm and the person in charge listened to what style I wanted and took into account my natural hair. The workers here are really friendly and attentive. What I also liked was that my hair wasn’t as damaged as I thought it would be after, it actually looks better. I’d definitely visit here another time when i get the chance.

Excellent men’s hair cut and experience. I have extremely thick hair and for years I have had a natural part which I dislike. Sarah did a great job with the shape, thinning my hair, and got rid of the part.

I had a cut here several months ago. Windy cut my hair and showed me a couple albums with hair style pictures. My hair is very thin and fine. However, she’s skilled and got me a nice, classic cut. She spoke only little English, and we didn’t chat much. It is more expensive here compared to Korean hair salons in Dallas. This place also less hip than Dallas.

Wonderful! Usually I have Windy but today I had a man — I don’t remember his name — but he was FABULOUS! He had this crazy belt full of scissors and he kept changing them out with great flourish. I LOVEDIT. And I love my haircut. Great place.

I have a head full of hispanic ringlets and when Windy saw my mane she didn’t even flinch. I brought a picture of what I wanted and she made suggestions that I agreed with, She cut, colored and added some highlights(strategically placed btw…) and it turned out great I am happy with the results. She was very warm and chatty and has a great sense of humor. The establishment was clean and organized and I like that they were playing kpop while I was there. I will definitely return!

I used to avoid Korean haircut places when I was growing up — every haircut was a bowl cut. But as I grew older and American based Korean stylists figured out that there’s more to life than bowl cuts, I converted to Korean places. I suppose it also helps that a haircut is much cheaper than American owned places(unless you go to Supercuts — which is about the same as me cutting my own hair blindfolded). Anyways, as for Scissors Sound(what’s with the weird name?), I like it. I went on Saturday afternoon and found the place to be completely empty. Since it was my first time, it took longer for my haircut. The guy first cut it, then I had to have him go through with the clipper twice. But he was efficient and cut it the way I wanted it — despite some language barrier(my Korean is good enough to order food, not so much haircut). My haircut also included shampoo & wash. Total out the door — $ 20. I went back for 2nd time and it was a good again. This time was by a lady — I think she was the owner. I’m not overly picky about my haircut, but at same time, don’t want it to look bad either. If you are a non Korean speaking Asian, my suggestion is for you to bring a picture of what you want. And if you’re not Asian, don’t be too surprised if you don’t get the exact style you wanted because of communication issues and your hair not being Asian characteristic. For the price and quality, I’ll keep going here. It’s a bit out of the way, but I rather spend extra 10 – 15 minutes driving for a haircut I want, rather than being stuck with the one I don’t like for a month.

I went there about a year ago. I called and made a reservation, and which was a lucky move because I found out that they barely speak English. I brought 3 pictures to show them what I like, and pointed out the length I want, and they gave me the PERFECT cut! I don’t even have the need to «communicate» when I know the stylist is competent. Pictures and very little request will do the trick. :)
