Came here for a concert for a band that I’ve seen several times. I was pleasantly surprised with the inside. Nothing fancy, just liked the set up. Very dive — like vibe and saloon style. Bartenders there were great too. Only complaint I have was the sound quality of either the sound board, or the acoustics of the building. Just didn’t do the band very much justice. Other than that, just a regular dive — country bar in Austin.

Cool outdoor venue. Great up close and personal experience. The live sound is great. I went here once to see Dying Fetus, and another time with Morbid Angel and Dying Fetus. Well, everything here is great. I had to park several blocks away. Big deal, the neighborhood isnt too bad. The booze isnt too expensive.

So i am not a frequent concert goer and I have only been here once. As far as small places go, this is definitly small. My family and I went to see the X Ambassadors the other night and this place wasn’t at all what i thought it would of been. The concert was outside and the stage was quite small. The drink prices weren’t too bad, and though, i didn’t have any food. The ticket price was only $ 15.00 bucks and so at least I didn’t pay for anything over the top. I wouldn’t go here on the norm, unless i was seeing a concert again. Even then I would have to really love the band. I didnt’ deal with anyone and so can’t rate customer service. But as far as no bells and whistles. this would be that place.

I recently saw a show here and am now kicking myself for not seeing a band here sooner! I recall coming here several years ago but stayed indoors for a round while bar hoping on the east side. Scoot Inn is a rather nice outdoor venue with an elevated patio(prime seating/viewing) and outdoor bar. We purchased tickets to see Nathaniel Rateliff at Stubb’s and the show was moved to the Scoot Inn. The show sold it within a few days and was a cheap $ 15 a ticket show. I am excited to have seen him at this relatively smaller venue before he really blows up. Although the show was sold out they lines were short and we rapidly entered the venue. Everyone working here was friendly. Scoot Inn serves lots of local brews like Austin Beer Works, is a full bar but the wine selection is dismal. The building that is now the«Historic» Scoot Inn opened their doors in 1871 was once a grocery store and later a restaurant. It has been various saloons/bars on and off since 1919, is rumored to be the oldest bar in Austin and reportedly has the 4th oldest liquor license in the city. Tip: if you are heading down here on a Friday or Saturday night their is a metro rail stop within blocks.

Horrible service. Bald Security guy is rude idiot. No one working there treats the customer like a client

My experiences at Scoot Inn have revolved around laid-back weeknight skeeball and a raunchy Saturday-night outdoor Mickey Avalon concert. Anyone can find their tribe at this place. Oh, and one other important note: the customer service here is stellar, even given the occasionally raucous/annoying crowd.

Love it! I have been going here too many years to count. It use to be this little bar with food truck and kegs in the back. They have since rebuilt and the layout is great. Always enough room for a great show. The sound has been amazing on point. I don’t know if the bands or venue supply the sound crew, but each show has been amazing. The bar service is super awesome and chill. Drinks are always poured perfect and everyone seems to be having a good time. The burger truck outside is the perfect touch. My only suggestion would be some high powered fans hanging high and some misters. It’s hot in the crowd when you’re jammin’.

*Update* After my review, the GM reached out to me quite fast. She addressed all of my concerns and has apparently lowered some of the prices, and even offered to buy me a drink on my next visit. Customer service goes a long way. I’m adding a star for this reason. I will update this again on my next trip.

Scoot Inn is 5 stars on atmosphere and the quality and cheapness of shows that come through, that’s for sure. Also their drinks are good and reasonably priced, bartenders are friendly, and there’s lots of legroom and space to stroll around. Definitely lose a star for the small ramshackle bathroom inside and only porta-potties outside. A bit too grungy and gross for a place that’s well established. Besides that it’s great, and you should definitely see some shows here and take people from out of town to catch the Austin vibe that people want to bottle up and take home.

One of my favorite Austin dive-bars. Great live bands and acoustics. Whenever I see a band that I think is going to draw a huge unmanageable crowd, I still manage to get right up to the stage and there are short lines to get drinks. There’s skee-ball inside, too! They are dog-friendly and even have rescue fundraisers.

I have been meaning to write this review for a WHILE and thanks to SXSW I was reminded to do so. This is by far my favorite venue. The older I get, the less patience I have for music venues not having everything I need. I don’t ask for much, a bar that’s easily accessible at all times, a clean bathroom, standing AND sitting areas. This place really has everything one could want in a venue, or bar for that matter. They have: — An outside bar that is VERY accessible from all sides — Porter potties when there’s an event going on(no they are no ones favorite but when you’re drinking and have to tinkle, accommodations are met) — Covered areas outside for when it is hot as hell and you need a sun break, or if its raining — Lots of seating inside and outside — Tons of room to dance(or stand if that’s your preference.) — The inside bathroom is what it is, its there and that’s enough for me. Keep in mind this is a grungy bar but hey, it’s not GROSS… so in my opinion the bathroom is a win. The vibe of the place is super casual and I always feel right at home which is rare for me at venues. Usually you cram your way in, stake your spot and don’t move for the next three hours. The scoot inn is more the type of place you’re like ‘Wow have we really been here all day? What time is it?’ So thank you scoot inn for your awesomeness.

I came here for a private work party. The place is spacious and has plenty of space to spread out and hangout with your coworkers. Most of the venue is outdoor space. Then there is a small indoor space where we had karaōke sent up. Out side there was a large stage that was set up with a DJ who was actually my friend, DJ Konsept! He was spinning the jams all evening and we definitely had an awesome dance party! This is a great space for events!

Scoot Inn feels much like a smaller version of Stubb’s. Though it seems to have more history of course. Surprisingly, they catch some pretty neat shows passing through town and tickets are affordable. Give this venue a few years, and it will be old. But, I can see it really getting big. I mean, isn’t that how much concert halls get big? As most people have noted, they are adapting to the times… a folky venue catering to hipsters, many of whom want to play skee-ball.

Free skee ball during the week! Cheap beer. Great shows. Only one bathroom makes for long lines when it’s busy.

Fun place and cheap drinks. Staff are awesome and never had to try and flag a bartender down. Very attentive and was fun to see Tim Reynolds play. Look forward to scooting again.

I heard the Historic Scoot Inn has been around for well over 100 years, so I wasn’t surprised to see & feel that old-time nostalgia. Exterior: From one angle it looks like a barn, from another angle it looks like a run-down warehouse, and from another it looks like a saloon. Interior: It has an old-school Austin look, with slight modern upgrades. ALL of this adds to the unique ambiance of this cool place. I was fortunate enough to visit the Scoot Inn for the first time for the Big KRIT Pay Attention Tour.(Side Note: The event was awesome and we all had a great time.) While the outside of the venue doesn’t seem all that large, the inside is pretty roomy. It accommodated the hundreds of fans with ease. It has a wooden deck where the bar is located, an adequate(but not large) stage, and copper-colored gravel that unfortunately left my vehicle’s floorboard filthy! With that single negative out of the way, I loved everything else about the place. I wasn’t able to tour the entire place, but there seemed to be in indoor section with bar and some games, I saw a food-truck(maybe deserts?) towards the front part of the venue too. I will definitely be back here, if not for another show then definitely just to hang out and see the place when it’s not so jam-packed. «Keep Austin Weird!»

THESCOOTINN. Nice! I appreciate your upgrades as much as I appreciate your Lone Star Tall Boys. Some folks probably want to get down on The Scoot Inn for«catering to the hipsters» or changing with the times(as is much of the East Side). I think it’s just smart. They’re booking bigger names, drawing in crowds on a consistent basis and actually made me want to come back… That’s a 5-Star move IMO. Benches out front on the new patio. Shotgun shell string lights. Ski Ball inside. Creaky old floors still in tact. Bathroom stalls that shut/lock. Nice stage outside with really amazing lights. Multiple beer stations(don’t go inside unless you want a big line — usually they only staff 1 – 2 peeps during small-medium size shows). The one thing that’s a bit of a downer is the entry system — will call, purchase tickets, already have tickets, etc. All the same line on the side of the Scoot. Thanks for a great time guys. See you again soon!

As the oldest bar in Austin, The Historic Scoot Inn has infinite hipster cred(ugh…the Scoot Inn is SOOVER). And it’s turned into quite the decent music venue. The past few years have seen it transform from a run-down shack into a much classier establishment, now complete with a giant wooden deck. I’ve been to a handful of music concerts(SXSW, Scootenanny!, etc.) and social events here and it’s always been a blast. With the continued eastward expansion of the downtown nightlife, Scoot Inn no longer seems that far away from the rest of the city. You’re just a block away from East/Hipster Sixth Street. Go Forth.

Where can you buy a $ 10 ticket to go see 5 bands play, buy vintage clothing, watch live art, eat tacos from Cazamance, and swim in kiddie pools? Well, if you’re reading this review you already know. A week ago I went to the Scoot Inn for the first time and really enjoyed myself. It’s east Austin so the people watching here is phenomenal. Even if you don’t like music, it’s worth going for that alone. Parking is scarce in the east side, so make sure you plan appropriately. Ladies should probably avoid wearing heels here as seating is quite scarce. Dranks are strong and relatively inexpensive considering this is a concert venue. I think it was around $ 7-$ 8 for a Jameson and ginger.

I am in LOVE with the make-over! IDK when it happened, but I LOVE the big new fence, and the deck. its it enormous and awesome. We went last week for the MapJam, and I hadn’t been in well over a year. WHY, IDK, because this is exactly the type of venue that I absolutely adore. I can’t speak for the drinks, or service, because I didn’t drink. We were at an all ages show, and I had 217 year olds with me, but if I had them write this review, they’d be singing praises of Scoot for having an all ages show. I applaud them for allowing it, even though there was like 5 underage kids there– it was perfect & appropriate. Can’t wait to go back for my next show.
