Oak Hill approved! We needed help with improving our yard, so I asked Liz for a design consultation. First I filled out a survey online. She also asks for a property survey. Then she met me at our house. We knew we wanted native plants that are easy to maintain and will look good for a long time. Everything Seedlings uses is organic and Liz explained how the changes will help save water and mowing and even help the local wildlife!(unlike Bermuda grass) Liz was able to give us many ideas of how to work with our sloping back yard and how to improve the look of our front yard. She worked within our budget and explained different options as far as materials, plant choices, etc. Seedlings can also add more at a later time if you want to do the work in stages, and they can also come by a do the yard maintenance. Liz really knows her stuff! She was able to tell us which plants look«dated» and which trees were more or less valuable, why to plant them in certain areas and not others. You know, things we don’t understand. I’m excited because I know the front yard changes will increase the property value a lot! Also, with her terrace idea for the back yard we’ll actually enjoy using that space. Looking forward to having it done!

In order to know Seedling Gardening you have to know Liz. She’s unique is so many ways starting with the fact that she’s a native Austinite and REALLY knows this climate and our 3 seasons. I discovered she’s quite the expert on perennials’ and can help those of you not from here plant the trees, shrubs and succulents that will come back year after year. I’d like to point out that the pictures really say more than words about her work.

So, I wanted to grow a vegetable garden. I had muddled through some online sources, and searched for the perfect gardening book for Central Texas. I ended up with more questions than answers, and still had no idea where to begin. Then came Seedlings’ Gardener Within classes. I now have a garden in my backyard that produces real, edible, delicious vegetables and herbs. The class was small(just three of us), and each class was at one of the gardening student’s homes. This hands-on, personalized approach was an ideal learning environment for me. Liz took us step by step through the process of preparing, planting and maintaining an organic vegetable garden. No question was too inane, and the Facebook group is a very helpful resource. I often post questions or updates on my garden, and Liz always replies very quickly, and is always posting helpful tips and encouraging posts.

I moved from Massachusetts to Texas and am completely lost on how to keep a garden alive in hot weather. The past few years I basically gave up on the idea because it seemed like too much work to find info online specific to Austin and even the suggestions on when to plant seeds on the package are not meant for our seasons. The Seedlings gardening class is perfect because it’s tips are for Austinites, in fact classes take place in our yards and I totally need an expert looking over my shoulder. I would definitely recommend this class for anyone looking to have a successful organic garden.

I have used seedling gardening(liz) for help maintaining and expanding my home landscaping for over six months. she’s great!!! really experienced and intelligent about well suited plants for the Austin climate, nice, caring, attentive to details and dedicated to my vision. she has helped greatly with everything from setting up herb and vegetable gardens to planting a drought resistant lawn, tree removal, even basic mowing and weed whacking. she’s really passionate and enjoys her work, she’s professional and her prices are extremely reasonable.
