the service is pretty good but the food is horrible, and overprice i mean come on $ 5.25 per taco with 3 strips of meat, that is insane.

It had been years since I had been to a sorranos location. My husband and I were in the need for some food while visiting Austin so we stopped here. We were greeted promptly by the waitress and we ordered a margarita since it was happy hour to get the meal started. I got the mango margarita and it was overly sweet and didn’t seem to have much alcohol in it. My husband ordered the strawberry margarita and said it was good. While waiting for our food to come out we chowed down on nachos and fresh salsa. The salsa had a bit of a bite to it and could eat a lot more. My husband ordered a burrito with queso that was served with rice and beans. The burrito was a decent size but nothing super special. I ordered fried avocado tacos. I never had this before and wasn’t sure what to expect. The fried avocado had a unique flavor and wouldn’t be something I would try again. The fried avocado didn’t fit into the soft taco shell that well and caused the inards to spill out. I did enjoy the rice and beans but nothing special. I guess for the price you can get a decent meal but besides that it was sub par when it comes to Mexican food.

Great Tex-Mex food all around. When I was in college I used to work at a Serranos. I got to know the cooks and got to see much of the food preparation that starts early in the AM. With the notable exception of foods like their desert Flan, everything is made in-house. Fajitas cut from huge pieces of meat and tenderized. The tortillas, while no longer made by an old lady, are still made in-house by a slick machine. The rice, beans, and chile rellenos. All made from scratch every day. It isn’t a surprise really that as an adult I return to enjoy some of my favorite dishes: chipotle chicken with grilled onions and avocado, or huevos rancheros with their delicious and complex ranchero sauce, or the pollo con queso, or enchiladas con huevos. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t forget to try their sweet tea. If it’s too much, they’ll cut it for you. Their chips are airy and light, while their salsa is tangy with just a little kick. Enough to whet your appetite, for sure. They can get busy during brunch hours and dinner, but if you get there early enough it is a pleasant experience with great made to order food.

This update is just for the vegetarian enchiladas. They changed the recipe, they no longer offer my favorite wine cream sauce, they are now served with red sauce. They have a poor substitute that I tried today. The waitress said it was like the cream sauce but not quite. Totally dissatisfied, this was my favorite.(Insert sad face here)

We eat here on a regular basis and it is one of our favorites for Tex-Mex. Never disappoints!

What sold me on Serranos, was the first the service we received and secondly the generous portions of food! I had not been to Serranos in five years and then my networking group decided to use the meeting space in the bar for our weekly luncheon. The staff is so accommodating and very understanding that sometimes 20 people show up and other times only FIVE people show up. Nonetheless, they don’t charge extra and don’t complain about setting up a large table. The server we had was extremely polite and didn’t act negative about all the separate checks and gave us plenty of attention. What surprised me the most about Serranos, was that I actually left feeling FULL and SATISFIED! I am so tired of eating at she-she places downtown that end up costing $ 20 plus tip for lunch and I am hungry again 2 hours later. I ordered a lunch special and enjoyed a fresh salad and a GENEROUS size of tortilla soup. I am a healthy, picky eater and I was pleased by the freshness of the food and of course, the salsa is DELISH!

Met some friends for happy hour and some food. We sat at the bar area and our waitress was great about taking our order quickly as well as delivering prompt service to every new person in our group when they came in as we all sort of showed up at different times. The food was good and everyone has a good time. In my fantasy this place would have a more extensive list of beers on tap, especially more local beers, but alas I can’t have everything!

I tend to avoid big name places. I was invited so I went. Chips and salsa are great. Rice has NOFLAVOR at all. Super dry! Jalapeño bombers YUCK. Take them off the menu until perfected. I haven’t been in years to Serranos. Another good reason why I won’t return. So many better hole in the wall authentic Mexican eateries in Austin. And cheaper!

Went here while visiting Austin and have no complaints. Got seated right away, chips and salsa right away, server was nice, and the food was delicious. They had this queso thing going on where if you ordered one of the quesos, all the proceeds went to the Hays county flood victims. I thought that was great, so of course we ordered queso. I got the burrito con queso with a strawberry margarita. Both were awesome. In short, great TexMex with a nice atmosphere. I recommend trying this place. I know I will definitely go back!

I love the atmosphere here and our server was really nice and attentive even though it was a busy Saturday night. We usually get the Parrilla for 2 and it’s the best deal because you get both chicken and beef fajita, carnitas and jalapeño sausage w/rice and beans, tortillas, pico and cheese. Talk about delish!

Serranos is my «go to» for quick Mexican food. Fajitas in order? Head to Serranos. Get the queso. Split beef fajitas for ONE(because you know you’ll eat at least a basket or two of chips). Walk away with a $ 30 dinner bill. NICE! The Southpark location isn’t my favorite, but they have more space and a bigger bar area than the South MoPac/Brodie location. That’s a win!

NEVERAGAIN will I come to this restaurant at ANY location. We waited so long for a wait person I started the timer on my phone. 15 minutes measured but it was way longer than that! We ordered extra shots of tequila on the margaritas and they charged me for them but didn’t pour it! Beans were COLD. they are using chef mike(microwave) .we ordered chalupas which every other restaurant serves as a beautiful display. I have attached a pic of mine! Not worth the time, money or aggravation you experience trying to make them do their jobs. We were surrounded by tables full of dirty dishes! What a waste of a beautiful patio, wonderful sunset and delightful Austin weather!

My husband ordered the grande which was suppose to be a cold plate that would come out before his main plat. The main plate came and then the cold plate minus the queso it was suppose to have. My fish tacos were totally full of bones. Defiantly not a pleasant experience.
