Horrid customer service. Went in on Sunday, waited while the employee flirted with another customer who he helped in front of me. Disappointing!

Terrible prioritizing on part of the employees. A line of 4 customers and they decide to go help a lady pick out the right color for her project. No acknowledgement or «be right with you «.

Their paints are better quality and it shows. Pay for the good stuff and you’ll only need one coat.

Most paint stores tend to cater to their bread-​and-​butter clients — the painters — and barely tolerate the rest of us. I have found Sherwin-​Williams to be better than most and I also like their higher-​end longer-​lasting interior paint products.
Every project is different so every couple of months I am searching for the product that will best fit the challenge, usually after researching it online.
Recently, I had a client who did not like her shiny brass interior fixtures and she wanted to replace them all with an oil-​rubbed bronze finish, and did not have the budget to do it. But for the price of paint, she could alter the fixtures for her immediate needs.
Enter the «guy behind the counter». Arrogant, good looking, charming, and overly confident. He was barking orders to another guy in the «paint mixing area» in back while at the same time telling an apparently hilarious joke in hushed tones to two of his painters while ringing them up.
A woman employee (rare at a paint shop, I do NOT know why, although I would soon) comes out of the stock room and asks me if I need help. I tell her about the oil-​rubbed bronze idea and she says she has been experimenting with that and she has just the ticket.
Dinkus and the regulars break up into laughter at the hushed tone punch line and then, when we look over, they look down. Girlie joke. Not funny. Everyone feels uncomfortable. No one blushes.
She looks at me and says the most important thing is to not have ANY brush strokes and shows me two inexpensive ways to spray the paint on and she also shows me a special paint chart with 12 different colors of brown and asks me which exact «oil-​rubbed bronze» brown am I looking for? WOW. amazing.
Negative points for the overall sexist vibe (unless you like that kind of thing) and bonus points for the woman who survives it daily and is very knowledgeable about paint… kind of hard to rate, but I would say
–2 points for Dinkus behind the counter
+5 points for knowledgeable woman in the stock room who, I can only imagine, is bringing Dinkus donuts in the morning and cleaning out his coffee cup when not answering obscure questions from non-​regulars.
