We had a great experience with Smudge for my daughter’s 11th birthday party. She had been to a few parties there and decided that she wanted her own to be there. Of the available party themes, she went with the glow-​in-​the-​dark painting. She and her friends really had a blast!
The staff was very easy to work with. The space itself is very cool. I am going to pick up the canvases today. Can’t wait to see the results!

I attended a really fun private event here where a group of 15 – 20 adults created 12“x12″ canvases in Jackson Pollack style. Used everyday utensils (toilet brushes, fly swatters, etc) to sling paint! Don’t wear your Sunday best for this. Our event had wine and snacks. Definitely would consider this for hosting a party. Loved it!

Camps and parties at smudge studies are unbelievable. The staff are incredible, the art projects are fun and about creation and expression. At summer camp last year they made pop art, painted a la Jason Pollock and Andy Warhol, and worked with mixed media Plus they played outside in the water and had shaving cream fights. The community they create with kids through and around art from the youngest to the oldest makes me wish I could go to camp again. (Can we give them 10 stars :-).

Absolutely amazing and unique place for a kids party! My guests and I (kids and adults) had a truly wonderful time and the staff was amazing with the kids and kept the feel and tone fun and inclusive. We will definitely be back! Loved it!

The summer camps at Smudge are wonderful! My daughter has attended camp at Smudge the last 2 weeks, and has really enjoyed it. The projects she brings home are really cool and fun! I wish I could go to camp there!!! The ladies and staff at Smudge are so kind and wonderful, and really work hard to make sure every camper has a great experience!

I recently had my 12 year old daughter’s birthday at smudge. The girls had a blast! The 2 Smudge employees did a wonderful job. The atmosphere was inviting and the space felt really good. I highly recommend Smudge for all ages.

Had my daughters 8th birthday party there yesterday! The studio is a fabulous bright happy, creative space. We chose the splatter party, heather and her staff do an amazing job facilitating the art portion if you don’t want to get messy yourself, although I had a great time getting in on the fun. They were very gracious giving us the run of the place for the remainder to eat open presents and play. Each girl made there own canvas to take home and a large one for my daughter to keep which looks pretty fabulous and can’t wait to hang in her room. I think the price was more than fair in fact a value compared to other outsourced parties and a heck of a lot more original and fun. We will be back for more parties and camps in the future. This was a fabulous experience for all!!!

As noted, this is absolutely a very cool, «Austiny» concept, and great fun. We had a 7 yr old birthday party for kids here, on the «larger» side (close to 30 kids). With very few exceptions, each of the kids had a blast and the owner/​staff facilitated the kids in very fun but professional way. The participants come away with some very cool art-​work, and the space is nicely adorned and well configured for hosting parties. Kids will particularly like the space, beyond the «smudge art» activity. You certainly have to be aware of the cost, but if you’re looking for something different and unique as a group event, this is something definitely worth considering.

My daughter loved going to summer camp at Smudge so much that she asked to have her bday party there. We could not have asked for a better experience with the party. So easy and such a fun splatter-​paint theme. The owners are so good with kids, guiding them through the creative process. I am amazed at how clean and tidy their space is given the messy art that gets made. We highly recommend Smudge!

A friend and I attended a Jackson Pollack-​inspired Girls’ Night at Smudge yesterday evening, and had a blast. Its clear Jaclyn and Heather are great friends who enjoy their work and love sharing with others how fun art can be! It was a small group (unlike some other art classes/​workshops around town) and so we were really able to talk, laugh, get to know each other, and get messy!!! I will definitely be going back to Smudge to satisfy my need to craft.

I rented Smudge for my daughter’s 6th birthday. My wife and I considered alternatives such as jumpy-​castle, roller rink, or splash pad but we’re so glad we celebrated at Smudge. Jac and Heather were super courteous throughout the whole process. They have a great thing going on in Hyde Park. Even with a room full of six-​year olds, they were in complete control and engaged the kids from start to finish.
We reserved a Smudge Room party and Smudge had everything prepared. All we had to do was show up and get messy! Afterwards the kiddos gathered at a long indoor bench and ate cake when the festivities were over. We had an extremely positive experience. In fact, we were so pleased my wife is coming back next week for a BYOB adult painting session with her girlfriends! Thank you, Smudge!

This little treasure is located in the Hyde Park area right off of 38th St. and Guadalupe. Smudge Studios is a great place for kids and adults too!
My kids just finished up a week long Lumpy Clay Camp. They got to sketch everyday, play with clay, make a claymation movie, make snow globes, go all Jackson Pollock in their Splatter Room, and also had outside water fun play with shaving cream too. My kids couldn’t wait to come to the camp every morning and they certainly told me everything they got to do. Ms. Heather and Ms. Jaclyn are AMAZING! Loving, caring, nurturing, and full of passion for Art.
