Absolutely love this place. The martinis are to die for! The make them with fresh ingredients. A few of my faves are: Samoa cookie, Nutter Butter and crème brûlée. The place itself is super cool. Lounge seating, live jazz music and nice wait staff!

I am not a fan of ‘dirty 6th’ street at all. Soho Lounge is slightly better than the typical 6th street bar, it’s not quite as dirty but still has cheap drinks(I had 5 — 6 drinks, my husband definitely had a few himself and yet our bill was only $ 25.00ish at the end of the night! Cheap!) The DJ was nice and took requests. The bartenders ignore you until you tip them nicely, then they keep the drinks coming, which we appreciated. All in all, if we have to be on 6th street(which we did last night since we were celebrating a birthday for a friend who chose 6th) I would choose Soho Lounge over most of the other bars.

Great place for dancing, played lots of fun music and had mixed crowd, everyone fit in and seemed to have a great time. Bar service was pretty fast which is always nice. The bathrooms however were absolutely disgusting, two of the toilets didn’t flush but people kept using them anyway, gag.

I’ve only been during SXSW, but it’s a pretty cool bar with 3 levels. There’s a nice open roof that can be closed off from the weather as well. Bartenders were friendly and fast.

I stopped in here with a group of friends on a weekend out on 6th. The place was alright, kind of douchey. As usual the cheap drinks are cheap and the decent drinks are a bit overpriced. Music was all pop and hip hop and some 90s music. Not exactly my kind of bar, but it was alright for a large group of friends.

Someone had recommended this place to me but we left after one drink. The music wasn’t what I was expecting and was in the mood for something with an actual beat. It was a neat set up and I’d prob check it out again but this night just wasn’t working for me. We left, in the pouring rain, to find something we could actually move to.

I’m in Austin for SXSW and when I made it to Soho I spent most of my time upstairs catching bands from South America and I really like this space! It’s small, but somehow allows for a lot of people to pack into it. And the music was awesome, so I couldn’t help but be in a good mood. I found myself downstairs a couple of times and the top 40’s music bores me, actually it drives me crazy. And there are two staircases to get up or downstairs and one of them is right by the stage. The problem with this is the music downstairs is so loud that if you’re upstairs catching a show and happen to be standing/dancing by these steps, then you’re going to have to listen to the music that’s blaring downstairs. That sucks.

Soho Lounge ended up being our second and final stop on a truncated and somewhat lunatic trip down 6th Street. When you last left us, Jersey, Tiffany and I were taking leave of the mess that was The Trophy Room, to wade down the mess that was the sidewalk, to end up at the mess that was The Soho Lounge. Once again: lines to get in? Please. Tiffany worked her magic again. I like her. She’s like the straight girl version of me when I’m bar hopping amongst the gays. The place was packed from stem to stern. I’d like to point out, which I failed to do in the last review, that this was a Thursday night. It’s not *quite* the weekend, but the sheer number of people willing and able to sling shots until 2AM still astounds me. I mean, don’t they have to work??? We ponied up to a barely open corner of the bar by the one table in the place, and it became apparent that Tiffany knew A LOT of people here… not just the doorman. Once again: the straight girl version of me. We were promptly served another tequila shot, and I may or may not have met some random guys who I had zero interest in remembering. Once we’d tossed back another shot, we decided we just didn’t have enough time to complete a trifecta, so we’d try playing out our hand at Soho Lounge instead. Tiffany took on the role of Moses and helped to part the Red Sea, except in this case the Red Sea was a mass of schnockered humanity and Jersey and I were the two buzzed Israelites hurriedly following her before the people came crashing down around us. However, unlike Moses, we would have to repeat this little miracle every time we needed to go smoke outside.
The Promised Land ended up being the back of the bar, where we could catch our breath and roam a little more freely. This would be a double edged sword, as our newly forged friendship with two drunk girls flitting by ended up with the taller and prettier of the two insisting I booty dance with her. At first I demurred, but she was remarkably aggressive about it, so finally I ordered a vodka tonic and stood there while she rubbed her ass on my crotch and I sipped my cocktail. Thursday night and where am I? Getting a friction boner from a girl grinding me on Sixth Street. I could NEVER have predicted that one. The female bartender who served me my cocktails had a nice pour, and was very polite. I may have been comped one sympathetic drink for being gay, yet adapting so well to the environment. While taking cigarette breaks, I made small talk with the doorman who was very laid back and showed no signs of attitude at all. The manager was also outside, and I think his name is Andrew. We chatted some as well and he seemed genuinely friendly. These two plus the bartendress inside, by their actions towards me, literally saved their bar from the usual Sodom and Gomorroah-like verbal fire and brimstone I planned to rain down on a bar like this, as I am prone to do. Really, it’s not their fault. It *is* 6th Street. But for future reference, if I am destroying a bar, don’t look back while I’m doing it or you’ll get turned into a pillar of salt; a pillar of salt I’ll eventually use to rim my glass for tequila shooters. Finally, it was 2AM and some guy had fallen flat on his face. That was honestly more our cue to leave than the house lights going up. Kudos to the staff. 3 Stars.

This bar is located on the main drag of 6th street and they reeled us in. I mean, you can’t beat $ 1 for a Coors Light bottle! We started off our night here and it was really cool! The inside was long and narrow, so not much room to move around, but it had a pretty cool little VIP area by the DJ booth and hte décor along the walls was neat. It almost looked like mosiac patterns with different mirrors on the walls. There were only a few smaller tables underneath the mirrors that had a couple of chairs a piece. Aside from the cheap beers, the music was AWESOME! Some old school hip hop and I really just dug the vibe. I could envision this place bumpin’ on towards the later hours of the night. Two thumbs up! A great place to start the bar hopping extravaganza!

There’s really nothing great or terrible I can say about Soho. The drinks were okay, the bartenders were polite, and the atmosphere was nothing to write home about. All things considered, the place didn’t seem to have anything special to offer when I went. Just an average watering hole.

Last weekend, the bouncer rejected a two-time NFL Pro Bowler and member of the state’s beloved 2005NCAA championship team. Evidently, his«shoes were red» and his *fitted* v-neck was«too long». Huh? My guess is that he was reaching for any excuse to exert his«pseudo-power» over the doorway of a nothing-special bar. Since when was Soho all«velvet rope» anyway? The only thing not rank amateur about this place is that they’ve somehow survived all these years because they have a pretty blue sign. Great job, guys. In trying to be «exclusive», you turned down a real celebrity, and a class act at that. How funny! And how SoHo(as in the real, hipster area in NYC) ironic! EDIT: Interestingly, most of the(mistakenly) filtered reviews address what is very likely the same bouncer. Those are some horror stories!

You might think this is a bias review since I used to work as a photographer here and knows the manager and owner, but I’ve always liked Soho. The bouncer is called«Swayze» because he looks exactly like Patrick Swayze. Cool dude. The bar itself is nice and they often have themed parties. Drinks are cheap and strong. What I love the most is the crowd. Hot mix of hot people. Last but not least, you MUST try the specialty shot by manager Luke. It’s called a «Blow Pop»

Always end the night here… probably because of the fact that they play«More Than Words» when it’s time to get kicked out. Love it. The bouncers will remember you and give you free drink coupons sometimes, which is a plus. The atmosphere is pretty fun but can get really crowded sometimes. As far as I remember, I don’t think they have that great of drink specials, but we still end up here at 2am regardless(probably because at that point, we don’t need any more drinks…)

SOHO or SLO-HO? Slowest bartenders around and then the drinks are overpriced.

To be fair, I didn’t have to buy a drink here so I don’t know anything about the prices or the staff. They are located upstairs so I don’t guess the handicapped can easily enjoy themselves here. The set up is rough for a day show because the bands play against the window, but for a night show it is good. They have another stage that is also backed by a window too! I give them four stars for hosting one of the best parties with the best bands during SXSW and for introducing me to Scorpion Child, who are my new favorite long haired rock dudes. Also because the staff I did encounter here were quick with a smile and friendly to boot.

I’ll give them the hot bartenders, but seriously? How many more bars are going to play off the LA lounge scene? Over it! Not my favorite. I went there because of the $ 2 wells, but you know what?! They’re $ 2 for a reason. No liquor. I think that’s about all I can say.

HOT bartenders. Seriously. I was a tourist, and not used to this(that’s not what I’ve found in Atlanta…), but every guy behind the bar was very attractive, and the bouncer. The people here were too cool to play along with our bachelorette party, but the bartenders were nice(I know it’s for the tips and the business, but still…). The décor was fine, although with the long, narrow setup, I felt like I was always in someone’s way. Also, it was kind of bright for a bar. I don’t even remember the music, so I don’t think it was that important to the atmosphere.

I was here for a little while this past weekend. Like the other reviewers said, there really isn’t anything that makes it stand out– music, atmosphere, prices and clientle are all the same as the rest of sixth street. If you’re bar hopping, there’s really no reason to avoid or go into this bar specifically. The sign is cool, but that’s really it. The bartenders here seemed a little overwhelmed though. There was a guy and a girl, both of whom would try to take multiple requests at once, and then forget some, and come back and ask again what you wanted. I think they need to go back to the«one at a time» rule until they get a little better before multi-tasking.
