Sonic Drive-In

Had some very foul tasting iced tea. Could not even finish ¼ of it. Tasted like it’s been sitting there for hours /​days/​weeks

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a fast food chain, but this store deserves it.
The staff was extremely friendly and even enthusiastic to take and deliver my order. All of my substitutions were correct (which has never happened before) and the carhop even came back to give me some dog treats for my pup in the passenger seat.
Overall, this store makes me wish I carried cash on me so I could have tipped.

I never review fast food but, this was the Most unpleasant sonic I’ve ever been to… And I’ve been to a lot of sonic. Everyone from start to finish was rude and totally unwelcoming. Never again.
Only gave them two stars because the cook deserves recognition for having every order out in seconds.

Yeah, I understand reviewing a fast food chain might be lame, but I gotta say… there are good sonics and bad ones and this one has their stuff together. Friendly staff, pretty and new menus that have a nice screen and lovely car hops that are on skates! If you must hurry through a meal or get a super quick soda, this is the spot.

I’ve always loved Sonic, but this one is by far my favorite. It’s not far from where I work, so I’m there at least a couple of times a week. I’m usually there just a few minutes after noon, which is a very busy time for them, but they’ve always been quick to get my order out. The car hops are super-​friendly and remember me, and even the person behind the speaker knows my order well-​enough that she usually just asks if I want my usual. That bit of familiarity goes a long way in making me feel welcome and appreciated, something that’s not all that common when it comes to fast food. There’s a guy there (Mike, I think his name is) who sooooooooo deserves a raise just for being awesomely nice and friendly.

This sonic is ridiculous. My mother and I stopped by around 11pm after I got off work to grab a banana cream shake and a slush (just a plain sprite slush). We were greeted quickly and got our order in. We waited for 10 minutes… finally got the slush. They bought us the wrong shake, knowing it was the wrong shake. I guess they assumed we would leave. They told us it was the wrong shake and kind of pushed it on us… They went back in for another 10 – 15 minutes… there was three different people coming to us asking what we had ordered… No idea what happened. Their machine may have shut down or something or they were out of ice cream… but please enlighten us when you are having certain difficulties… We waited for a whole 30 minutes– 45 minutes for one shake. That’s just stupid, guys… We finally got the shake… and it wasn’t blended nor was it what it was displayed as… No whipped cream, bananas just in the bottom of the cup, a few crumbs sprinkled on top… We got handed a shit ton of coupons… but, I can’t use coupons at the store, sorry. Would really appreciate our money back and will not be returning to this location. I work in food and have worked in ice cream… I understand there can be difficulties here and there, but making a shake takes literally two minutes of your time, maybe three. Not 45…

SLOWEST SONIC ON EARTH! i come quite a bit and I’m finally fed up with how slow this place is. It’s ridiculous

This review is not so much for Sonic per say, because let’s be honest, it’s Sonic, but for one of their employees. I work across the street from this Sonic and will run by from time to time. Every time I go I have my food brought to me by Michael, who is the friendliest server of any food establishment I have ever been to. He always is so friendly and happy, brings treats for my dog, and just generally brings a smile to my face. This might sound silly, but people like that are rare to come by and its one of the reasons I keep going back to that Sonic. So thanks Michael for being so friendly, I appreciate it!

I had the new Lil doggies. Just okay. My stomach does not seem to like Sonic later in the day. They have good grilled cheese sandwiches too.

So slow. It took so long I turned off my car because I felt bad for running my car for 20 minutes. Wouldn’t come here if you’re trying to get fast food.

Sadly, I have moved to another neighborhood away from my beloved Sonic.
This Sonic is my most favorite in Austin, so much that I don’t want to go to any other.
My first shout out is the employees. Michael has been my car hop 85% of the time. He’s always in a great mood and very eager to please. Whenever I’d visit on the later side of the day, Jordan would be my car hop. This kid has a great personality and is very friendly. Any other car hops I had did well too, but these two are exceptional.
As far as the food, the burgers are great here and taste fresh. The only time I got a wrong order was when I ordered 2 chili cheese tots and only got one. I wasn’t even mad though. What made me fall in love with this place, though, was when I asked for a limeade with extra lime (because all other Sonics give me what tastes like plain Sprite when I order a limeade) and the lady taking my order asked me how many extra I wanted. She gave me free range of how limey I could get my limeade. I was so shocked and elated I didn’t know what to say! I gathered myself, responded, and finally received the limeade I have always wanted, and with no extra charge!

There’s always something wrong with my drink like giving me something I didn’t even order instead of what I wanted. And 99.9% if the time I have to send my drink back for being ALL ICE. This location is not one I recommend going to.

One word: milkshake. For whatever reason, Sonic has amazing milkshakes. They make them with real ice cream and the flavors are great. The banana even has real chunks of banana in it. Even more so, they have real whipped cream on the top. The kind that you pretty much never see anymore even in the nicer places. I have no remote logic as to why an ostensibly so-​so fast food chain has such amazing milkshakes, but they do. As if all of that wasn’t enough, during the summer – at least in Austin – their milkshakes are half price meaning that it’s just over $ 2 to get a 32-​oz milkshake which is more than enough to split between two people. It’s about the greatest late night mini-​date ever.
Lest anyone think I’m crazy, I’ve heard that almost all of Sonic’s food is mediocre at best even by fast food standards, but I’ve never gotten it. I just focus on the milkshakes.

Stopped by a little after 8pm after seeing ads about their half price shake happy hour on TV. Signs everywhere promoting all the different shakes. Finally decided what I wanted and pushed the red button and was asked for my order. Voice says the ice cream machine is «off». So no shakes I ask? No, the machine is off. Not the machine isn’t working, its just off as in I guess they turned it off early before closing or something. No I’m sorry or would you like something else. Maybe they don’t like selling shakes at a discount? It was very weird. I live a few blocks away and I’m not sure I will return anytime soon.

I’m a big fan of Sonic! There is no other words to explain it.

Friendly car hops (although one is waaaaay too perky) and a wide variety of drinks. Like all Sonics, it seems to be exceptionally inconsistent with the drinks — and stingy with the maraschino cherries.
A great option for an after work cherry limeade. Can’t recommend it for much beyond that.

It’s Sonic. If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to ‘em all. Good for late night when you don’t give a damn how your food tastes.

This particular trip was disappointing because my hot fudge malt wasn’t mixed up completely. I kept sucking up bits of dry mix. Yuck! Now I see now exactly what their malts are made of.
I can’t condemn this place completely. There are plenty if times when I’ve gotten some great drinks and delicious cheddar peppers here.

The drinks are getting my five stars! Who could resist a shushy on one of our miserable summer days:)
As for the food… I wouldn’t touch it
