This was a great unexpected surprise while I was volunteering at Amy’s. I highly recommend it. It’s homestyle burgers at its best.

The place has a good selection of burgers. Really enjoy the Allandale. Great for the family. Place for the kids to play. Next door is Amy’s ice cream. Not bad location. However, parking can be difficult sometimes.

Consistently great burgers. I eat at this location often and I always come back. I get my food quick and it is always what I expect.

This is honestly my favorite place in Austin to get a burger. If you’re looking for a place with unique type of burgers then head over. I really recommend the Allandale or the Balcones and their onion rings really hit the spot alongside a solid burger. Also on your way out don’t forget to stop by Amy’s and get something too.

Amongst my favorite burger places in Austin. Very kid friendly playground outside and customary Amy’s next door. And the burger selection seems to have expanded since I was last here(it’s been a while, ok?). 78704 still hits the spot — who can hate jalepenos with not too much heat, avocados, grilled onions on soft bun. I opted not to sub out my fries today for onions rings(felt cheap since swaps are kinda pricey) and was a little sad with my regular potato fries as they weren’t that crisp nor had that much flavor. Sweet potato ones were perfect as normal though. Now just open one closer to campus…

The place is awesome for a quick bite to eat and it is right by Amy’s Ice cream. LoL! The staff is friendly and the menu is on the wall when you are ordering. I was able to get two meals, one for myself and one for three kids. That’s right they have one with three sliders and fries. It was a perfect meal for three kids. Because it was a lot of great food. My meal had me full and enough to give my kids more fries to eat. Plenty of seating to choose from whether inside or outside. A great playground to have your kids get that energy out of them.

Best best best Gluten Free Burgers Ever! I thought I wouldn’t get to have them anymore when I found out I had celiac, but I was highly surprised and thrilled when I learned about their GF buns! They warm my heart!

Had the 78756 and my gosh it was great, cooked prefect, fast friendly service, onion rings were crunchy yet moist on inside, French fries were crisp and fresh. Also had fried green beans, now that was awesome, you got to have those if you go. Fresh tea, although the peach mango tea was not so great! Great place for kids to play, clean inside and out, bathrooms clean. Winner Winner

Well, maybe that should be added to the«what you know» list. What you don’t know but will: They take sliders as serious anyone in the burger game. 11 options and combos with fries. Which ones should you get? And which combo is the best deal? Find out at #bangforyourburgerbuck

Love love love the buffalo chicken sandwich ! I went back a 2nd time. He next time we tried the mini burger option. 3 mini-burgers of your choice. My daughter loved them. My son’s normal choice meat and bread… He rated it an 8 out of 10. The ice cream place next door is a good place for dessert ! Try it you will like it !

Got here at about 12:45, ordered about 1. Was told it would be about 15 minutes until our order was done. It’s now 1:36, and we still don’t have our food. If I wanted to wait this long for a burger, I would have gone to Hopdoddy. **Update**. The establishment followed up with me after the fact, acknowledged and apologized. They mentioned they will be taking corrective action in the future. Although I had an unpleasant experience, it’s great to see that their staff care enough to follow up and to improve going forward. I will be giving them another chance.

Good burgers, but didn’t really blow my mind. I had the burger with the jalapenos and guacamole. It was decent sized and their bread was delicious. The hot dogs I got for the kids, looked weird, but the kids ate it. It was like a light pink/brown color. lol It sucks that the drinks are separate on regular meals so it can be pricey. It was about 30 dollars for a family of 4 with 2 kids. The kids meal comes with a drink. They do not have much drink selections, but they had mexican cola and other flavors you wouldn’t find at a regular restaurant. They have a little playground outside where kids can play after they eat or while they wait for food. Our food came out quickly. The restrooms can be a long wait since there is only 2. Other than that, it is a neat little joint to come eat some burgers with the family.

I was in the mood for a burger and wanted to try something new, which led me to Phils Icehouse on Burnet. I had ordered a 78704 to go and because it was my first time, the guy taking my order took 10% off. I thought that was nice. The burger was very good and I liked how it was served on a unique jalapeño bun. It had nice toppings on it, with Monterey jack cheese, jalapeños, avocado and chipotle mayo. Good spice, salty, but not too salty. The fries were ok. I’ll definitely come back.

Well, this burger experience prompted me to get a Unilocal account… After many people recommended this place to me, because I’m a burger fanatic, I made it a point to give it a shot today. Ordered the Travis Heights burger with no onions. I love a good mushroom and swiss. They proudly called my name when it was ready, which was decently quick. Got back to my seat and took a bite before taking a look at its internals. DRY meat, overcooked, cheese wasn’t even melted, and didn’t even get a mushroom on first two bites. Opened the burger to find only a few mushrooms and a slice of slightly melted swiss. The meat was a bit charred on one side signifying overcooked. The bread to meat ratio is also pretty off. It’s a big bun(and delicious) but the meat is pretty lacking. I did not enjoy this burger. I’m a fan of juicy, meaty burgers, that don’t skimp on extras(cheese/mushrooms in my case). Only reason I gave 2 stars was because the bun and fries were good.

Nice place to take the kids to grab a bite to eat and afterwards they can play on the playground. They really do have a great time every time we come here.

If you’re new to this spot, you can’t really go wrong, but I love my three sliders. The fries are good, both kinds, onion rings are the shoe-string style ones which I love. The shakes are really good. Get a chocolate which is essentially a black & white. Super kid-friendly. Just a well run spot. My only complaint is when it’s super busy it seems their deep fryers get too cold so fries and onion rings get a little soggy. But that’s a good problem to have.

We came here because it was freezing outside and the wait at Peached Tortilla was too long but Phil’s was a great find. They have an assortment of creative burgers, local Maine Root sodas, beers and the usual sides. You can get your sides in several combinations — reg. fries, sweet potato fries, a mix of the two etc. I had the daily special, a frito pie burger. I love the sweet sourdough buns they use. The chili was mild and inoffensive and overall the burger went together well, with just a few Fritos to turn it from chili cheeseburger to frito pie burger. The fries(reg.) were just so-so, partly because they got cold really fast in the dining area shared with Amy’s ice cream. Prices were reasonable for crafty burgers. I would come back.

I’m going to have to buck the trend and just give Phil’s an A-OK. In an «I’d go back if I’m with someone who has spawn under the age of 5» way. But just me and the wife would probably rather be elsewhere. Tasty and creative burgers? Sure. Bottom bun that kind of fell apart when I tried to lift my burger, making me eat it all Donald Trump style, with a knife and fork? Indeed. Choice of regular or sweet potato fries? Yes. Fries of both kinds kind of limp and greasy, and a little bland? Affirmative. An order that took for-freakin’-ever to be ready, though it wasn’t very busy on a Wednesday late evening? Indubitably. Counter service was a bit confused. And it looked like there were some kitchen mixups they were dealing with as well. When we finally got our food(20+ minutes later), oddly my jalapeño bun crumbled away more like a biscuit than a bun. I assumed all«put a fried egg on it» things should have a bit of runny yolk and not be completely hard-cooked like mine was. Dining with others, though, I couldn’t wait for a re-do. For 5 bucks, the tallish-shot-glass-o-wine didn’t feel like a great deal either. But they do have beer/wine(which might be needed, depending on how you’re affected by large amounts of kids playing), and the non-HFCS sodas, if either of those are your thing. And I will admit, the foot-long corn dog looked impressive. And there is a gluten-free bun option, if needed(upcharge of a buck or so). 2.79 stars.

I’m bumping this up a star from my previous review because I received a kind and concerned response from their manager regarding the cleanliness and chicken«burger» misconception. That shows true consideration for their patrons and as a result, I’m going to make it a point to return next time I’m in the area. Props to Phil’s for great customer service in a fickle field!

I don’t think it will be possible for me to pass up a trip to Phil’s Icehouse on the way home anymore. I finally stopped in at Phil’s after passing it nearly every day after work and thinking to myself… well that looks like something to try. Unfortunately, the traffic on Burnet always throws me into a rage and all I want to do is go home and sprawl out on my bed. That’s a personal problem though. I don’t think I can say this enough… more sourdough buns on burgers please! The flavor people! The flavor! I have always had the best burger experiences when a sourdough bun is involved. Lucky for me half of the burgers are on sourdough at Phil’s. Go for the Brentwood if you are a bacon person. I would probably leave the onions off for my next trip here since the burger was already stacking pretty high. I had a difficult time getting the first chomp onto it. It’s a simple burger and I’m sure you’ve probably had this combo of meat, cheese and bacon before. The taste was awesome. This is the kind of place where it doesn’t really matter how crummy your day has been, just walk in grab a burger and beer, sit outside and just decompress. Oh. and there were also like 20 kids there swinging like crazy people off of the playscape that is outside of the restaurant. So. I guess you can check the kid friendly box here. Psst… Amy’s Ice Cream is two steps away. I think I want to try the Pizza Burger next. what could possibly go wrong?
