I love the pour house! Freaked out a little when I saw they tore it down. Looking forward to the re-opening! Great drink specials & good food! Love their black and blue burger!

Pour House Pub is Dead. Long Live the Pour House Pub. Wound up an afternoon loyalist, but fell short of pulling an Arthur Dent as the bulldozers approach. The word(from an owner) is they are indeed moving back in once the monstrosity of the mixed-use development on Burnet is completed.

Pour House is all the fun of a cool outdoor bar from the East Side of Austin, but not on the East Side of Austin and minus the pretentious hipsters that come with that. They have cool bartenders, a great outside, corn hole and just a great atmosphere. If you’re up on that part of Burnet road and want the feel of an eclectic outdoor bar… then this is it. You really just can’t go wrong here. You can’t expect it to be 100% clean, you can’t expect people not to puke, but you CAN expect people to be having a great time with good drinks being poured non-stop.

The Pour House has been there for me, but I’m just not that in to him— I mean it! Gosh, am I’m talking about my old favorite bars like old boyfriends!!! Regardless, I have had some good times and several lack-luster times at Pour House, especially regarding the food. I used to live near one of their sister-bars, Bender, which had a similar menu. Bender’s menu was/is less ambitious, but Bender’s bar food delivers. Sadly not the case with Pour House. It’s not delivery, it’s Digiorno. That’s right! It’s luke-warm, over cooked, wanna-be pizza. Sorry!!! The good news is the location and venue are great, the drinks are cheap, the juke box is fine, and the bartenders are pretty cool. End of tale.

I’ve been here a few times and keep coming back. This time, I got chicken wings(garlic parm) which I was relatively unimpressed with. They were essentially fried almost to a burnt crisp. But, my Pear Cider was cold and lovely… so that helps. I’ll keep coming back… I do like the ambiance. This time, the food did not do it for me.

The Kool Kids Klub(work version) decided to try this place out for our weekly happy hour. Having now slept on it, I am really torn in my review for this place: The Meh/Bad — The wait for food. 2.5 couples = 4 entrees(ordering the same time), none of which came out at the same time… As in, our single party member got their food(and finished), before we got our food(which we finished — two entrees) before the last entrée ARRIVED! Luckily, the company(and the subsequent boozing) made up for the shortcoming… but really, if a bunch almost drunk folks notice the lack of food… Sadly no acknowledgement of the situation from anyone @ PH. I honestly do not care about free food in that instance, but someone coming past and saying«My bad… we’re human… our mistake…» or something like that would have gone a loooooooong way. The Good — Of course the food was very good… The missus had phish/chips and I had the Black/Blue burger. I would skip(or sub) the fries for the O rings… big, crispy, tasty and hot(even after the walk outside from the kitchen). Try the fried picks… So I am not saying don’t try it… but with the PHPies norf of here, I don’t have to keep this in my rotation.

Some friends suggested a central meetup, so we chose Pour House Pub. This is definitely a space to frequent when the weather is great, unfortunately, it was a little chilly when we visited, so we did not get to enjoy the beautiful and huge outdoor patio space. Inside is nice, but small and feels a bit cramped, especially if you want to have a real conversation. The bartenders are friendly, but unfortunately all the ‘good taps’(aka local beer taps) were broken, so my beer drinking friends were limited on choices. They made it work and it didn’t impact our visit much. I had a coupe of Vodka drinks, my husband had a couple of beers and our tab was less than $ 20 — so I will give huge props for cheap drinks! Even better, Pour House is fairly close to some great local restraunts, so it’s easy to grab a bite, then swing in for a few drinks!

Excellent service, nice beer selection, nice atmosphere, jumbo buffalo wings were pretty good, tried the Cuban pizza and it was pretty weak. Enough pluses to make it a-ok.

I love Pour House for several reasons: –super cheap drinks, I mean, CHEAP. CHEAP. CHEAP. –great beer selection and lots on tap –fantastic food(the green chile nachos with pulled pork will change your life) –huge patio with tons of seating –quick bar service –relaxed atmosphere There’s a few drawbacks. not a lot of parking(it’s Austin-not a surprise), only one bathroom(by this I mean one toilet), and the waitresses can get pretty busy but that’s definitely not enough for me to have a bad experience. I’m sad this location is apparently closing but you’ll see me at the new location!

This is a solid pub. They have decent beers on tap, a nice atmosphere, and an outdoor seating area. The bummer part is that the outdoor seating doesn’t have a path w/o having to go through the bar, so that means that my dog wasn’t able to join us. The staff is pleasant, and if they’d get me a direct route for my dog, I’d probably hang there more often. It’s definitely tucked back away from the street, so it’s difficult to find. But I suggest checking it out. It’s a cool joint.

I went here last night with a few friends. This place is awesome. The drinks were a good price, $ 3.00 and we got them very fast at the bar. It has a huge outdoor area with a big tree and lights — very casual and fun. They have a game of bags for people to play. It felt a lot like Rainey Street but with a lot more space and great parking. If you are looking for a casual night out with friends, this is a great choice. I live pretty close to this place so I will be back for sure.

Pleasantly surprised by Pour House. I’m a fan of three things: 1. Outdoor Seating: It’s a great place to come in a big group, and there’s a decent amount of shaded areas for the hotter seasons. Lots of tables to go around. 2. Burgers: Was probably what made Pour House pleasantly surprising. Burgers are tasty — I got the green machine, which came with guac, jalapeño ranch, grilled onions, and more. The burgers come on a sweet bun, and there are so many sides to choose from. I chose tater tots. They were fantastic. 3. Cheap Drinks: $ 3.50 for draft beers. Thank you. Just don’t leave Pour House by exiting through the wooden gate that says ‘exit.’ We walked through it, and one of their staff came up to us and said, «Hey guys, don’t leave through that door.» He then closed it for us and went back inside. I guess if you’re sitting outside, they prefer for you to go back into the bar, then out. It was kind of a jerk move, but eh, whatever. Maybe they should remove the ‘exit’ sign.

My 3rd favorite bar in Austin!(So far!) I like bars that have outdoor seating… especially if there’s some shaded areas, and picnic tables, etc. Even better if they’ve got space for live music. At Pour House, I prefer to drink outside. The service inside, at the bar, is always kind of spotty, hence the reason I can’t quite give them a 5 star rating. The outside servers have always been good to me — my beers come out quickly, and the servers usually goof off with me and my friends. I’m a big fan of their onion rings… I always get an order when I’m here, and then dunk ‘em in ketchup. Perfect accompaniment with my beer. Woo! And the drinks are cheap… who doesn’t love that? My only other complaint is that they only have 1 stall in the women’s restroom. Really?! Come on — with a place as big as this, there needs to be more potties.(Yeah, I said«potties.» Whacha gonna do about it?)

Cheap, cheap, cheap, beer. Oh how I like the surprise of a low bar tab, when I get my bill at the end of the night! We decided to come here for a night cap after a birthday dinner, for one of my friends. I’ve heard a few good things about this place, so what the heck… I’m just going to point out the pros and cons Pro: Awesome atmosphere Cheap drinks Great craft beer selection Cheap drinks Cool tunes on the jukebox playing Cheap drinks Superb service-never had to wonder where my server was Cheap Drinks Oh and did I mention Cheap drinks? Cons: Parking 1 single stall restroom for men– I have never seen such a long line for a men’s restroom! But all in all, a great experience, and I will be back to suck up some of Austin’s finest craft brews very soon!

I hate to dislike a beer pub with cheap suds and a great outdoor area, but they gave me no choice! Pros– Wonderful outdoor set with a huge pecan tree Pretty good burgers(although $ 9 for a burger is a bit much, don’t you think?) Cons– Beer is nowhere near as cold as their sister pub, Benders Bartender was slow, and a snot Service was slow, all the way around The indoor area smells bad – but frankly, why would you sit there(well, maybe you’d get«some» service, I don’t know) Wings(½ price on Tuesday) were over cooked and must have come off chickens from Africa

Nice neighborhood pub, up in the northern parts of town. It has a large patio with plenty of nice long tables just made to accomodate a large crowd. Waitresses that are fast, friendly, efficient and happy to split checks… even when your party is over 30 people, like ours was. Oh, and smart enough to remember who ordered what with a party of 30+. That alone is pretty impressive. The beer selection was excellent. Plenty of styles and breweries, both local and not, to please everyone. We filled up on the various appetizers. The sliders and tenders were my favorites. This may only be a 4 star place for some, but any place that can keep track of a party as large as ours, with people jumping tables and moving around, and being added, and subtracted, constantly, gets an extra star from me just for service. Only negative, was that the parking lot was kind of small. We got there early and it was still a challenge.

How have I never been to this place and I live so close? I love the outdoor area with the lights everywhere. And the drink prices… it’s insanely cheap! This will definitely have to be somewhere I hit up more! I think a happy hour is in store for the near future especially since the weather will be cooler now!

Last night I went to Pour House Pub with a few friends. We were looking for a chill place to hang out and talk — and this Pour House didn’t disappoint. They have a lot of nice outdoor seating, and some indoor seating. It wasn’t blazing hot outside, so we were able to enjoy the patio area. Our waitress was pretty attentive and nice, and made good recommendations. We were able to watch others playing horseshoes while we talked as well. The ambiance outside wasn’t anything special — picnic tables, lights wrapped around the giant live oak and a covered area, it was still a nice space to spend an evening in. There also seemed to be a good mix of different groups here. I’m not really a beer person — but I did have the draft pear cider and it was pretty good. We didn’t do any food, but it all looked good. I would definitely go back here for a relaxing Austin evening.

Unilocal has been good to me, I’m surprisingly recognized while shopping, dining, and even at my job. I don’t hesitate to visit and talk about my online presence; we’re all here on this site for various reasons. I haven’t had the opportunity to actually visit with my friends that have supported me for close to six years thanks to responsibilities around the house. That changed Friday night at the Pour House Pub. Acting on a UYE invite from J Catherine and with the wife’s babysitting cooperation, I headed to North Austin to hang out and meet some of my fellow Unilocal peeps. The event coined the Random Ass Happy Hour brought out the now old school Austin Unilocal squad. The comedy stylings of Ardie S, power couples like Keri B and hubster, Jack and Veek N, now only mildly disgruntled Nathan I, Lefty Momma Shannon complete with family, and Alicia K and hubby. Quani C. too! I’ve left out a few names and for that I apologize, but here we are pouncing on every table that came available on the stage at Pour House. Libations for me started with Fireman’s 4. I like that the menu had calculated mileage for each beer and how far it traveled for consumption. I also picked the mahi burger for my visit with onion rings. Blackened mahi with guacamole, pico, mayo, mixed greens, and queso fresco. The onion rings could have had a bit more time in the fryer, the sammich was damn good. Oh yeah, our very own Unilocal ambassador Kelly S showed up handing out trendy sunglasses and spa coupons! I enjoyed every moment finally getting to hang with the Unilocal crowd. We were an unruly bunch and the waitress in charge of our group did a bang up job. No mandatory give me your credit card for a tab, my bill was correct when I asked for it. Not bad for a group of 40ish critical clients even while tending to other patrons in the courtyard. Bathrooms need an expansion so a star reserved for the line leading to the can.

I told a family member I was eating at the«Pour House» tonight.* The last time I was here, the place sold hot dogs. And I ran my most athletic event ever, the Choose Austin First 0.2K. So fast forward to Friday night. I came to attend an intimate gathering of 45 or so of my closest Unilocal friends. This is the kind of party that, anywhere else, they take a card from each person, serve hot beer and cold food slowly, refuse individual checks, charge everyone for things they didn’t order, and add a large mandatory gratuity – just to say a very special«Thanks for bringing your party here!». Would you believe not a single one of those things happened here last night? We were a waitress’ worst nightmare. A large group assembled mostly on the stage, constantly moving around to visit, spreading out to other tables, and she had to keep up with who’s who and what they ordered. Amazingly, in addition to our group, she had several additional tables to tend. Would you believe I left as the party wound down and heard nothing but universal and overwhelming praise for our waitress? I had the fish and chips, which consisted of two beer battered catfish fillets, waffle fries, and a very tasty, interesting slaw. The fish and fries were terrific. The slaw had an incredible twist to it that made it delicious, unfortunately, by the last few bites I realized it was total sodium overload. I had everything exactly as ordered within 15 minutes, with a sidecar of napkins and condiments to boot. Would you believe I can’t wait to go back for seconds? [*Only later did I learn a rescue party was sent to the Salvation Army searching for me at the«Poor House».]
