I did not expect much based upon the previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Helpful staff, fresh food, good flavor, large variety to choose from, reasonable prices. Nothing really great, but almost everything was good.

Great great great great great great great great customer service. Everyone. On New Years when everyone would rather be elsewhere. Good food for me and my little. Clean and unkept and staff refilling all the time. Wow.

cheap ~8 $ for a buffet of good salad and some good soup pros –cheap –buffet –clean –pretty nice setting –really awesome staff, did not rush me to leave past closing time –everything i wanted in a salad(aside from chicken but that’s understandable for the price, but some of the specialty salads have chicken in it already) –pretty good soups cons –wish there were more soups –some soups a little salty

Under new ownership and the place looks great. Clean always stocked and friendly service. Big difference from our last visit to this location

They have a variety of healthy options to choose from. The staff are very friendly and ho out of their way to make a customer feel welcome. There are times when they may be short handed but this doesn’t take away their courtesy. I’ve observed they have a good number of repeat clientele(me included) which means they are definitely doing something right.

I tried Souper Salad for the first time, at this location, and I just have to say that THAT in itself was unfortunate. I had always imagined this restaurant to be a lot different. Clean, fresh, bright, inviting… you get the picture. That was not what happened here. My boyfriend wanted to come for one reason: the ham cubes at the salad bar. He loves them. In fact, I think he would eat just a plate of those things by themselves and be satisfied. The food was«okay»… meaning, it wasn’t memorable. I actually kept asking myself why we paid as much as we did for something I could have put together at home for less than half the price. The soup«selection» was dismal. I think there were only 2 soups available and they weren’t labeled. I think one of them was some sort of vegetable beef. Come to think of it, I don’t think much of anything was labeled except for the salad dressings. And the iceberg lettuce looked kind of… wilted. The potato bar was small and continuously hogged by someone else meticulously spreading butter and fake cheese product on their spuds. It does have a «soft serve» machine, reminiscent of what you’ll find at Jason’s Deli… which made me ask, «why didn’t we just go to Jason’s Deli?» The 1 star is for the waitress that works there. She was running about, making sure everything was okay, and was as polite as she can be. See to it that she gets a raise, because she’s the best thing about this location. It’s old. It’s dark. And it’s sad. And that’s WITH the sign out front that says that it’s under new ownership, promising only improvements from what it was. Dear GOD what was it before they took over? My boyfriend agrees, and will most likely not be back. We actually waited until nobody on the waitstaff was looking and bolted out the front door. That way we didn’t have to look anyone in the eye. But my boyfriend got his ham cubes… he got his ham cubes.

I don’t know what’s happening to this place but it is going downhill, and fast! Been coming here for years and have never experienced such terrible presentation, quality and service. I peeked into the kitchen through the door and my jaw hit the floor. Crap everywhere, including food scraps, unsanitary cutting surfaces, garbage over piled, dirty dishes stacked up… and all in one congested kitchen. As for buffet, scraps all over, vegetables looking 3 days+ old, empty containers, scuzzy utensils, etc… Unbelievable! I think they are very short handed with help as I heard an employee say they were doing 4 different jobs. I heard similar from another employee about 5 weeks ago. Honestly, I’m not sure I can eat there again until something is done to remedy the situation.

I love the food at any Souper Salad, but this particular restaurant only had one guy working in the front and one cook in back. We had to ask multiple times for food to be restocked. The guy busted his butt to get everything done, which I really appreciated. However, I was left feeling helpless.

When I arrived and throughout the entire time I made my plate, I did not even see one employee. I had to search for an employee so I could get a drink and pay for my food. I asked for water and when he brought it, it seriously tasted like it came out of a dirty public bathroom sink. When I asked for something else, he looked confused and repeated that he could bring me a new water, but he would have to charge me for a Sprite, which is just ridiculous but whatever. The selection at the salad bar is very poor for the price I paid for it(about $ 8 without drink)… No nuts, no fruit other than some old-looking orange slices, no cheese, no bacon, I could go on. The lettuce mix and spinach were starting to get that old, rubbery texture, and the mushrooms were browning and had a strong musty taste. If you like CiCi’s Pizza or Golden Corral quality but Jason’s Deli(or anywhere that actually has a GOOD salad bar) pricing, this place is for you. Otherwise do yourself a favor and go somewhere with fresh ingredients and a staff that is actually present.

I’ve eaten here before but today was the worst. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and almost threw up. it was the nastiest place I thing I’ve ever been… I tried desperately to not touch anything… upon leaving the restroom I walked by the kitchen door, which was stuck wide open, and looked inside to see how bad it was, it was almost as bad as the restrooms, food all over the dirty floor. I don’t see how the health department allows this business to stay open. I’ll never go back

Sadly the food was actually okay. Our waitress was a sweetheart and was practically running the place by herself. We came in here cause we were getting hangry and also trying not to spend our entire income on dining out at all the hip joints This place felt ancient with visible update attempts but the cracked and faded plates said otherwise. It felt like that scary sad off strip casino in Vegas that’s seen better days. The veggies were super fresh, but don’t waste the $ 2 on chicken. It was that fake plastic kind. This place just needs some help and tlc. The food and service were as expected but the ambiance left me very sad :(

Been going here all my life. Love it. Although the service was off today, I’ll just write that off due to the record breaking floods last night.

Very bad… this place has really gone downhill. Salad bar was empty, no fresh hot items, everything was very dirty. This is probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to! Poor management! I felt sorry for the waitstaff… there were only 2 ladies trying to do everything. I will never go back.

You only get to stars because your Waite staff is nice. So many problems where to start. 1 food temperature way off everything was at room temp soup baked potatoes the browned salads pizza you name it. 2 salad mix did not match what was posted on windows. 3 salad mixes were brown at a quarter after 5 4 nothing was labeled properly 5 a pool of ice cream on the floor 6 the girl in the red shirt that keeps giving me evil looks after staying that the food temperature was off and that she had to fix it i don’t care if you ate pregnant you could at least smile and pretended to work. 7 how do you run out of spinach at a salad bar 8 no lids over things like soup 9 to many Flys fling around 10. Seeing work that needs to be done and just having employees just sitting picking there noses Well that’s 10 of the countless things that i saw today between the hours of 4:51 and 5:40 most of my time here was writing the review

I love this chain, and I’m not a chain person. I don’t know what’s up with this particular location. It’s dingy, run down, and most surfaces are sticky… Which begs larger questions about general cleanliness and sanitation. I’m not joking about the ick factor. I had to hunt for a table, a child seat, and a place to stand that wasn’t a sticky surface or filled with food and dirt. This was a two star review until I went back for seconds and noticed wilted and brown lettuce. No Bueno. Go here if in a hurry or if broccoli cheese soup(which other people seem to go on and on about) is your thing. I suggest to avoid. Wheatsville coop and central market, both about 1 minute away, have far superior soup and salad bars for a fraction more. Well worth it in my opinion.

Just left and didn’t finish my meal. The cottage cheese tasted like spoiled milk! I quietly informed the manager, he said, «I’ll go see.» What does that mean? He never came back to our table. That left an even worse taste in my mouth! Before i left i asked to speak to him and he wanted to refund the whole transaction and then swipe my card again for my husbands meal. By this time my husband is in the car waiting. With the receipt. This has turned out to be more trouble than it’s worth so i asked for a corporate number and thought I would be on my way. It took the nanager 10 minutes to come back. He handed me a little piece of paper with a name and number scrawled on it. We won’t be back.

Souper Salad? More like Super Sexy. And I just got to the cash register to pay. From the sultry soups to the tantalizing taco meat, this place is one hot spot. The myriad selections of salad and freshly chopped vegetables will surely tickle your fancy. The majestic booths and plastic trays truly add an element of romance and mystery. Amazing dessert bar to make melt in your mouth desserts. Lucky for me my INCREDIBLE wife was the cherry on the top my sundae. Sweet waitstaff and delicious food that will keep you coming back for more. Keep any eye out in your mail for coupons. This joint is perfect for first dates, engagements, Christmas parties, bridal showers and corporate events.

Third rate salad bar. Old lettuce, out of toppings, empty dressing containers, no fresh meats. Low price, though.

The best thing about this place is the broccoli cheese soup. If i go back here it will because of this soup. I have been here one other time and was also not impressed. I remember going to other souper salad locations when I was younger in the DFW area and they were good, but this location — not so much. Last time I came here the service was not as bad. I went here by myself yesterday on my lunch break as I wanted something different and it is very close to my job. My mistake. I will continue to go pay a bit more at the Central Market salad bar instead. When I sat down at my table, it literally took the waiter about 10 minutes to notice me and brings me my drink. There should be self serve drinks in my opinion, but there is not. When I paid at the beginning there was no option to leave a tip and I had no cash on me so either way, even if the service was good I had not way to leave the waiter a couple of dollars for tip. Now to the quality of the food on the line … the lettuce looked like it had been sitting in my fridge for a week and half. It had that brown tint to some of the pieces of lettuce. If I knew that it had been sitting in my fridge that is one thing if I choose to eat it, but a restaurant should never have this poor quality. I got the fat free ranch and it was practically tasteless. Everything else was ehhh. I did not touch the items under the heat lamps, but they looked like they had been sitting for awhile too. Now again that broccoli cheese soup was so good and that is why this is a one star review … for the soup. Will i give this place another try? Probably not as there are so many more options that are way better.

Poor service, compromised quality, and Roaches! Just for the record, I’ve came in here three times, hoping each time that my experience would improve. It never did, and I won’t be going back. I don’t «love» Souper Salad, but it is a great place to get a salad fast, and they usually have a pretty good selection. I’ve never had a BAD experience at Souper Salads in the past, whether it be in Austin or San Antonio… Until now. The first two times I came to this store I immediately notice how slow the service was. The same girl who took my money at the counter brought me my drink… Ten minutes after I had already started eating. She seemed to be the only person working there besides the cook, and she wasn’t in a hurry for anything. The buffet and the whole dining room wasn’t filthy, but it could have been a lot cleaner. The straw that broke the camels back was that the third time I visited was the first time that I used the bathroom. It was horrible to say the least. As I sought to finish my meal, I resolved to never return just as a ROACH crawled across my table!
