I like that the new larger style of GC has such a wide selection of foods to choose from. Breakfast bar, lunch/dinner bar, dessert bar were all great. The salad bar and fruit bar were very sub par on selection and variety compared to the rest however. The food was not 5 star restaurant as far as taste, but it is a buffet right?(note: there IS a four star buffet restaurant in downtown Austin though«Fogo De Chao» which is pretty awesome… and expensive, but still awesome). The wait was pretty bad at GC. We had 7 people and had to wait off to the side to wait for tables. They actually forgot about us and we had to remind them we were waiting! … for most that would bring it down to 1 star… but I honestly cant say that I get the feeling that is a normal thing. I Won’t knock down for it this time… 3 stars overall. Meaning, not bad… would probably go again… but nothing special or anything incredible that I need to rush back for. #beingTLee

Yesterday I visited golden corral n might I say it wasn’t anything I was use to, my baked chicken was cold to the bone, macaroni was dry. Hope next time it’s better

Looks like I again go against the crowd here. Maybe my fellow GC lovers and regulars don’t use Unilocal, and Unilocalers are not the type to like classic American food. The lady next to me said, «this is the best chicken i have ever had, and i am from the south!» I love the roast chicken, the meatloaf, the coleslaw, the chicken noodle soup, and many others. The all day breakfast is awesome. I have never had the service issues others mention, mine has been fine. How can people complain about portions being too large or small? It is up to you! Great choices, something for everyone. And the value is exceptional! Only the broke and stingy fail to leave a buck or two tip. The north Austin location is even bigger. Closest thing to home American cooking in Austin, alongside the Frisco Shop and Threadgill’s.

Listen, if you want to eat a lot of hot food and not be judged by anyone else when you are dipping squares of Rice Krispies in the overflowing mountainous chocolate foundation as your dessert then come here. NOONEWILLJUDGEYOU. I have been here at least 5x now and each time gets a little bit better. The servers and service is always spot on and amazing. Whenever I get up to load up on more carbs and chicken fajita baby spinach salad I always come back to more soda or water or whatever I am having to drink. Servers here mean well, do well, and follow through. Breakfast is the best part of the buffet here. If you plan it just right, you can arrive around 10:30−11ish to get the best of both worlds(breakfast AND lunch), however, I just read that GC is now offering all day breakfast items. This is legit in that you can have made-to-order omelettes, over-easy eggs, deliciously crisp bacon, and some free orange juice or strawberry banana juice(for free too) and head over and get some shaved off the bone ham & whatever your little hungry heart desires. It’s legit. Parking is plentiful, lines are never too long(unless you are coming on a Sunday at or after 11am. Line is long because of the church crowd), and service is spot on for what a buffet in Austin is worth.

It’s my birthday(sing song voice) I get to go to Golden Corral to celebrate! [Yeah, kind of lame] but oh well we headed out hungry and happy to have a ‘free’ ticket. The happy ended quickly, because I wasn’t allowed to use my coupon on my phone, because they don’t have a scanner, i.e.: coupons must be PRINTED out! Not listed on the email coupon exceptions, is that it should be printed out — we are unlikely to return because the denied experience was less than stellar.

The food is so good here! I am in love with all of the options and fresh food! The only complaint I have is on labeling! I accidentaly got fat free ranch… and who wants that?! LOL! just kidding… but really.

Just compared to the north location, everything seemed a bit colder and less fresh than what I’m used to when going to Golden Corral. It wasn’t really a bad experience, but I was kind of disappointed at the temperature and rotation of the dishes I go there for. For specifics, they didn’t have broccoli cheese soup, their dark meat didn’t have drumsticks. They were out of corn bread, and the fried catfish was soggy as cold. And that’s like everything I like here lol.

The food is fine. Lots of choices. The problem: I don’t live in Austin, so I needed to use the facilities before heading home. As soon as you walk in, it looks fine. When you round the corner it’s a horrible shock! Every stall is filthy and the handicapped stall had a huge pile in the corner of feces filled toilet paper. The men’s bathroom apparently is the same. A clean bathroom should be important especially in a restaurant!!! I went to Walmart next door. It was clean. Don’t know if I’ll be going back.

This location has only been open for a few months, so everything is a shiny and new version of what you expect from Golden Corral. Both times we went were during late lunch/early dinner so, though it was busier than expected for midafternoon, the restaurant — including the buffet areas — was neat and clean. The staff is friendly and our servers both times have been attentive. The salad bar is fresh and the food is decent — not made from high quality ingredients, but definitely better than fast food. The omelet station and Mongolian bar are nice touches. Free for children 3 and under(and like $ 5 for those over 3), there is no shortage of them running around or strapped in their chairs literally screaming and screeching at the top of their lungs… the entire time I just wanted to jump up and run out of there!(After first stopping to hug all of the parents of the precious little ones who are happily enjoying their meals while using their indoor voices.) Anyway, I digress, we will not be returning because the food is not that great and definitely not good enough to endure the surprisingly large number of parents who have no consideration for other diners.

So we gave it a shot, it’s a throw back to our youth. We thought because it was new it would clean and well cared for but we were wrong. The food was visibly burnt like almost all of it and we didn’t even eat. It was so bad we decided to take a loss on the $ 30. I’m frugal and that was hard, but it was bad ya’ll. once you get past the glamour of all the options and possibilities all that was left was burnt old food with dirty caked utensils. I didn’t go in with high expectations, but I also didn’t expect to be so disappointed I walked out after paying $ 30.

This place is horrible. If i could put no stars i would. The place is new but it looks so dirty. I have never been to a golden coral before so I cant compare it but I can tell you we will never go back again. When i say dirty, I mean the buffet lines where the food was. There was food everywhere in between. There was no one trying to clean it up. I watched as they put a new tray of food down. The person didnt even try to clean the area. I know its busy and things can get messy but they had enough people to keep the areas clean. Our waitress was nice and attentive. This was a waste of money and time… as far as this one star i have to give, its just for the waitress.

Food: It was not so good but not bad for a buffet type of restaurants. Cleanliness: I expected it to be cleaner, consider the place has opened for few months, but is not. Service: We didn’t even see our waiter for the first 20 minutes of eating there. He showed up and got the plates out of the way and refilled a drink, that’s the only time he had said anything to me and that was when he asked«what is he drinking». Then he came another time to clean up our plates but never asked if we wanted anything else. My husband didn’t even have any interactions with him while we were Now, I understand buffet restaurants can get a bit out of hands when they are busy and servers can’t attend to everyone’s need. However, busy wasn’t the case because as far as I was seeing/hearing, he asked every tables, except for us, if they were doing fine and clearly he was being more attentive to other tables. I just felt like we were being treated differently for some unknown reasons. I felt really down afterward because I honestly didn’t know what we had done to deserve the service we have got from the waiter. Well the cashier was at least good and that made everything a little better.

This place is pretty new only been open a couple months I believe, I went a couple weeks ago and the place was filthy. Most of the tables we passed were dirty, the high chairs all had a sticky layer of grime, and most of the employees looked like someone crapped in their Cheerios. The food is the same as any other Golden Corral, but it’s just so unacceptable to have a brand new location be so dirty. They also don’t have any slings for baby car seats, they told me to flip the high chair upside down and put the carseat in it, don’t do it it’s not balanced and your child will tip over FYI

The food is cheap buffet quality. Nothing special. The service is worse than you would expect pretty much none at all. GC needs to do away with servers all together. I don’t want to tip here, as I feel putting a card on a table and ignoring you the rest of the time weather they are busy or not does not warrant a tip. Seriously this place can do better by doing away with servers having 4 – 6 bus boys and have people get their own drinks as I have had to on my three visits here. Also the cashier need to learn the words thank you and your welcome. We the customers are the reasons these people have jobs. I believe if McDonald’s had a buffet it would be just like this GC location.

Surprisingly very organized and clean. The wait staff stays on top of bussing the tables. The food is what you’d expect from this chain, but every time I go it seems like they are adding more options like the chocolate fountain, Mongolian bar, and a cotton candy machine? Don’t go on a Saturday evening or you’ll be waiting to get in the door for 20 – 30 minutes(they only have so many tables).

We thought that we’d check out the place while it was still new. As expected, the restaurant was bustling with hungry people. The food selections were plentiful. I was happy to see the area designated for a Mongolian style stir fry. I should have cut him off with one serving of beef as I felt extremely wasteful not being able to eat the 3 servings of beef that he prepared for me. Other than that we were satisfied.
