I’m a HUGE snow-cone fan(especially during the summertime)! I enjoy my ice shaved extremely fine and covered in syrupy goodness(AKA, banana, piña colada, etc.) and this place had just that! The woman who was working the shift let me sample a few flavors, which was something I’d never seen at a snow-cone stand(definitely made a difference).

Awesome place to stop by and cool off open 12−8pm. The staff is nice and friendly. If you go there in the middle of summer when the sun is beaming expect a long line. If you are worried about your sugar intake they do offer sugar-free in various flavors.

Generous with the place, rarely has long lines, good mix of flavors, places to sit. They also have a stamp card for frequent customers.

The smoothest shaved ice in town; there is no comparison. So many flavors to choose from and each one is delicious. Customer service is great. They always have a beautifully crafted Flavor of the Day that’ll knock your socks off. My personal suggestions: If you’re looking for something tart and refreshing, go for the Barton Springs or Summer in a Cup — don’t forget to add some fresh squeezed lime on it! If you prefer sweet and creamy, go with the Dream-a-lope with some Cream Heaven to top it off! YUM!

Best Sno Ever! Who knew cantaloupe and cream could be so refreshing. The girls working are always very sweet and friendly. I love that they have so many options and variations. You would think that screwing up shaved ice cant be done. I promise you, it can be done. Save yourself the trouble and just go to South Austin Sno. It will rock your summer!

Generous sizes, good flavors, great service. The girls here are nice, and chat you up while you wait.(Maybe just to get a little more tip out of you, but it works!)

Good snowcones. Very generous sizes. Great prices– about $ 1 cheaper than SnoBeach. Parking is easy Service was friendly Flavors are good Offers cream! YES!!! Bring cash b/c it’s cash only. Good for a hot day!!! Only thing I would change– get a finer ice machine!!! I prefer the really light/fine snowy like snow cones. Their ice machine definitely created ice pieces a tad chunkier than the Sno Beach ones. If you prefer ice you can munch on, then you’ll love it here.

Best sugar free wedding cake syrup flavor I’ve ever tasted. And I love the texture of the snow– not too fine and not too coarse. Don’t forget to grab a punch card– free cone after 8 punches. Hooray for summer!

My girlfriend is a huge fan of snow cones, and I never really understood the appeal. That is until I visited south austin sno. Multiple times a week we have become regulars as I feel they know how to make sno cones right My girlfriend usually gets the cotton candy and cream, while I go for some randy fruit flavoring + cream. The key is the cream as not only do they put it on top, but also in the middle which makes ALL the difference. If you only have the cream on top, then by the time you get to the middle there is nothing left to enjoy(even in a small). I will say the sizes are pretty good and I get my fill with just a small. I’m very happy we live just around the corner from this place

This is probably my favorite sno cone in town. I have not been to the one on Manchaca, only the one on Lamar. They have tons of flavors, including sugar free and sour. Their ice could be better, but other than that there are no complaints. We usually fill up our frequent buyer card twice every summer. I love trying the new flavor combinations they have on the board every day. Summer in a cup is by far the best sno cone ever. Tiger’s Blood, Mango and Pineapple mixed together with a squeeze of fresh lime on top. Ever since I had it the first time, I cannot bring myself to order anything else.

Part II in my sno-cone review series. South Austin Sno is the closest Sno Cone stand to me, so I go here more frequently than any other place in town. Anyway, here are my three criterion for judging sno-cone stands. Ice: 3⁄5. This isn’t the coarsest grind of ice I’ve ever found at a sno-cone stand and isn’t the finest either. All in all, it’s pretty average – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing – but doesn’t stand out either. Syrup: 4⁄5. Somewhere between 30 – 50 flavors including some sugar free. Nothing you probably haven’t seen before and everything tastes like it’s sweetened by corn syrup. Still, it tastes good and they have enough variety that you’ll always find something you like. Now, the wildcard.(And, if you’re a heterosexual female, I’d say go ahead and stop reading here.) H.E.H.F(or Highschool Employee Hotness Factor): 4⁄5. They’re not in the upper-echelon of sno-cone girls, but they’re not bad either. Probably not cheerleaders, in case you’re wondering. One of the girls who works here occasionally wears a bra with no shirt, so there’s your added bonus. Feel that hot spot on the back of your head? That’s from the eye-lasers your wife is shooting at you from the car, so better enjoy the free looks while you can.

Stumbled upon this little spot on a warm day when i was so parched my mouth was sticking together. I had a delicious tigers blood, although they have about 100 flavors, and a nice conversation with the girl behind the counter. The ice was shaved, they put a good amount of flavoring in it and the prices were reasonable. Total bonus: NOLINE. Half the time you stand in line salivating and playing bejeweled just waiting for your first sweet taste of the thing. For my summer ice cold treat, Austin homegrown South Austin Sno Cone is a great option for the southies.

I’m from west texas and up there we have a wonderful thing called Bahama Bucks. Remember those snow cones from your childhood where it was just ice, because the sugary goodness couldn’t stick to the huge chunks… so you eat plain ice until you get down to the bottom and you’re forced to DRINK all of the stuff that you should have been enjoying the whole time… or, you try to drink and bite at the same time and end up with snow cone explosion on your face? Ok, these are NOT those snow cones. This is the art of SHAVED ice. Once they put the sugary flavor of your choice on top, plus cream, don’t forget the cream, it’s a race to the bottom of the cup. Seriously, this is one of the things I crave. We stop here every Sunday on the way back from the dog park… last weekend we went saturday AND sunday… i’m so spoiled. You’ve got to go here, the girls(most of them, there was one that wasn’t good at her job) are WONDERFUL and funny and one of them gave me the idea of cantaloupe and dreamcicle(sp) with cream… it’s called a dreamaloupe! yum to my tum tum.
