Does anyone happen to have a copycat recipe for their mashed potatoes? My mom loved them and I’d like to make them for her.

Great catfish! I will miss this place, but you can still go to the one in Pflugerville when the lakeway one closes on 2÷2÷13

Yummy, yummy, yummy! Best fried catfish & shrimp in Austin! We just moved to Lakeway and were hoping to find a restaurant similar to Catfish Parlour. Found and beat! We liked everything they had better than C.P. except the cole slaw. Thrilled to have a homestyle, catfish restaurant so close to us. Service has always been great as well!

Springhill used to have nice thick pieces of catfish(½″ or better). They now specialize in the world’s thinnest catfish. The fish is 1/8″ thick at best and half of that is breading. Really pathetic, especially for what they charge you for it. Stay away from this place. It is a ripoff. Go to Boat House Grill on 620 and get some real catfish. YUCK.

I can only justify this sort of eatin’ about once a year, but I figure right after super long bike ride is the right time. Might negate about 1⁄10th of the calories. Totally worth it though. We alternate between this place and Catfish Parlor and each has their awesomes and not as awesomes. Pros: –All you can eat everything. No ordering a huge plate of catfish at the Parlor and then filling up on sides before you can finish half of it –Better salad bar. At the Parlor, it’s caesar or nothing. –More options for sides that I liked(not sure if its more overall, but I preferred theirs) Cons: –The food at C.P. seemed to be a bit fresher off the line. Not that this was unfresh, and it was probably because I’ve gone there at busier times, but all the fried stuff was just a little crispier and hotter. –No jalapeño catfish or jalapeño tartar sauce. That stuff is like crack. I like this place a lot, and I’d be back a lot more often if I could justify the fried foods more.

I like going to their restaurant with friends and the service is great. But, their food is rather greasy, and I have to take a shower and a nap afterwards. It is bascially comfort food if that is what you are into.

I have been to both of the Springhill locations in Austin. I must say I love the comfort food they serve and the wonderful authentic antique décor. The service at the Beecaves location is much better though. Yes your food is served on styrofoam plates but the taste of the food and friendly waitstaff make up for it in my book! I would definitely recommend trying it if your with 25 miles of the place.

Really cute looking from the outside, the food not so much! The kind of place you envision good home cooking but in reality heavily fried food at average food quality. Not worth the price

Love me some hand breaded fried scrimp oh ya! It’s a decent place, nice service, but come on let’s do away with the Styrofoam! Sheeshish we all should care about the environment you know because we only have ONE! We really wanted to try the buffet, but for the slim pickings I just could not justify the price, kind of high for the tiny amount of offerings. A bit pricy for a quick lunch, but it was decent enough tasty. Maybe for an every now & again stop in spot, but probably won’t be a regular.

Why is this place still open? It’s so gross. They fry everything except the stale salad and then they charge you some outrageous amount for the privilege of leaving your mouth with so much grease in it, that all you want to do is run home and brush your teeth, The walls have that fried fish odor with the walls feeling sticky.

If you like Guy food, fried and breaded you will love this place. Not for sissy eater’s that need the niceties of fine dining, but if you are grease eating, white flour loving carnivore this is the place for you. Truck stop like food at its best.

Our family is a restaurant’s nightmare. We are particular people with specific needs. «I can’t eat carbs» «No dessert, I’m dieting» «I hate fish» «I’m gluten intolerant» «I want a beer!» «Can we bring in a birthday cake?» Just try taking those people to a catfish restaurant. The birthday boy loves catfish. If he could swim with them on the bottom of the lakes and rivers, he would be happy. Oh wait, he does. He’s a lawyer. The restaurant accommodated every one of our requests. My dinner choice of grilled catfish was delicious, served with ranch beans, hush puppies, fries and cole slaw. I heard from my family members that the grilled shrimp is delicious, loved the tilapia, not enough dark beer on the menu, and the chicken tenders are greasy and not good. The dinner ended with a birthday cake and loud singing of Happy Birthday. And everyone lived happily ever after.

I was terribly disappointed! The prices are outrageous for a greasy dive like this. I was happy I could get grilled fish, but the 5 piece portion would not even make a sandwich! The waiters were nice, but food not that great and way too pricey. Never again!

I had a hankering for Springhill today, so my boss and I headed over the the Airport Boulevard location. I eat pretty frequently at Catfish Parlour because it is closer to the office than Springhill, but every once in a while I want to have some Springhill catfish instead. The buffet at Springhill isn’t cheap: $ 9.98 + tax includes all you can eat and a drink. The catfish is always excellent. The breading is the just-right crispiness without a hint of oil. It’s like they magically made fried catfish without deep frying! I love that they have broccoli, friend okra, and mashed potatoes on the buffet whenever I am there. I only wish that the mashed potatoes were fresh with the skins like they make them at the Pflugerville location.

Fried catfish and shrimp done right. If you’re in on the weekend get the buffet, it’s a better deal than the plates. Authentic southern style food. Bring the stretchy pants.

The hubby and I stopped in for lunch on Sunday. After looking at the menu and being unable to choose between the fried items, we settled on the lunch buffet. A lunch menu/pricing would have been nice… the fried catfish and shrimp platter was $ 14.99 which is more than we were willing to spend for lunch. The buffet had a decent salad bar and good fried catfish(nice and crispy but a little bland… a few squirts of hot sauce helped) but the rest of the items left a lot to be desired. The sides were bland(mac n’ cheese, mashed taters, corn and green beans) and I would have preferred another choice for a protein besides the catfish. They did have some type of chicken spaghetti, but I wasn’t daring enough to try it out. The prices were on the higher side($ 11 for buffet, which included a drink) and the food was just okay. Our server was friendly and on top of things.

All the dishes and serving ware are STYROFOAM and throwaway plastic! And the walls are plastered with enormous Shell signs.(Connection, ya think?) The prices are high and while the seafood was decent, the mashed potatoes had that distinct taste that only comes from a box. I will never eat here again. (Reviewing the 183 and Buttercup Creek location.)

The food here is pretty good. Once in a while the mac n cheese is really watery, but the cole slaw is always good, the catfish is great and they serve other things on the buffet depending on what day it is. I think the buffet is lunch only. It’s about $ 8 but the food is super fresh and really good. Great steak fingers, too!
