I’ve never had any issues here. Love having this corner store near home when I need just a few ingredients and I’m not due for a grocery store shopping visit. I speak Spanish but the employees usually talk to me in English. I mention this because I read someone say that you have to brush up on your Spanish. Sure it’s nice if you know Spanish, but not a necessity. I see a diverse group of people come in and out of this store and I love it. No complaints other than I noticed when we first moved here summer of 2014. The meat section was very slow but probably due to not having regular employees. I’ve gone to buy meat here versus buying at the grocery store and i have had no complaints. I liked that they informed me of their upcoming advertised sales for chicken on certain days of the week. The employees at the register are always friendly and I like that if they start getting a line they will open both registers sometimes they’ll have 3 people up there which is nice because it’s never a super long wait. I think the store is improving. Props to the owners and staff that work here. You can find a variety of items and you can even have prepared meals here

I love the idea of this place, and it’s great that there is somewhere nearby where I can buy fresh produce, but sometimes I get the vibe that white people aren’t really welcome there. I get breakfast tacos here occasionally, and I tried to go by today around 2:00. I knew it was past breakfast, but I just wanted bean and cheese tacos, so I didn’t think it would be a problem. I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not purchase breakfast tacos, and the lady looked me right in the eye as she told me she didn’t have beans, cheese or tortillas to make them. Wow! I’ve always been really friendly to everyone there. This felt like a slap in the face. So I drove over to Torchy’s, where they were happy to help me.

If you live in the McKinney Heights area you probably frequent Star Market. I know the whole neighborhood is glad to see you! The market is so convenient and kept super clean, open until 11pm they have a small isle with fresh produce(most of the produce is predominantly used in Hispanic cuisine) but if you live in Texas you better have some recipes banked. A full Meat Market with seasoned fajita meats, small steaks, chicken, plenty of pork products and a small selection of fish. From 6am-7pm grab a breakfast taco or Barbacoa plate from the nice ladies that spend the day cooking up Mexican comfort food, plus points to you if you speak Spanish because ordering can be a struggle at times. Grab a case of beer from the«Beer Cave» but make sure to check the expiration dates. Expired beer is usually marked down. Most basic items are accounted for, I couldn’t count how many times this place bailed us out when we had forgotten stuff like shredded cheese, tortillas or chips at HEB. Prices are slightly marked up but you are paying for convenience. Staff is always friendly and the front counter girls are cheerful and polite regardless of the sometimes language barrier you will encounter. The only annoyances I really have with this place is the ever growing bee population that loves to suck up all the sugary drinks from the trash cans and scare the shit out of me when I’m pumping gas and the fucking air machine that never seems to work but will still gladly take your money… ugh

This place is a GODSEND for those of us who live in the McKinney Heights area. Before, the only thing even remotely near is a Texaco — now located almost directly across the street. For the better part of a year(though it felt much, much longer than that) we watched this thing being built and wondered what it would be like inside. The answer? AWESOME. This Shell completely eliminates the need to ever go to the Texaco. Featuring a little bit of everything, this Shell Market it perfect for when you need just a few things(sugar, milk, eggs, tortillas, that kind of thing) and don’t want to go all the way to an HEB to get. Seriously, I have found myself needing everything from cooking oil(they have it) to fresh vegetables(relatively fresh, depending on when you go) to getting my check cashed(which they can do) to wanting breakfast tacos(they can do, but only before 11) to wanting ice cream(which they carry not only the standard Blue Bell but also a wide assortment of Ben & Jerry’s! Incredible for such a store). If I were to inclined, I could grab a beer from their BEERCAVE. My only knock on it(besides the breakfast tacos — I want those things for dinner) is that they’ll first address you in Spanish. English is not the norm here, so come prepared for a possible language barrier. However, it has not been a big issue for me in the past and I visit almost every other day.

FINALLY. We needed this here so badly. Finally something that only takes me 3 min to drive to and get pretty fresh vegetables. The only problems that I have is that I am predominantly an English speaker, and some things definitely get lost in translation around here. I am cool with it, it is even a little fun, but hard some times. They have specials sometimes and even clearance, which is neat, and a great deli/market thing that is pretty much a restaurant, which is awesome. I really like their breakfast tacos. But make sure to order them before 11am.

Best breakfast tacos in the area at very low price!!! Only been open for several months but glad they did as they’re about a quarter mile from the house.

Nice new grocery/convenience store in the hood. Includes a meat market, produce/dairy area, bakery goods, and a good grill. Pretty good variety of coffees to boot. When they opened they had a killer deal for 3 carnitas tacos for only $ 3.99. These tacos are jammed pack traditional style. They have all the sauces you want as well. They have increase the price to $ 4.99, but it is a pretty good deal still. Breakfast tacos are$ 1.99 with many varieties. Service is friendly and location is always clean. Good neighborhood spot…
