The staff @ this joint is top notch in my opinion. Not only are they all quite easy on the eyes but they’re all cool as shit. The crowd varies depending on the time /night of the week — just as all places in Austin do. I lost my drivers license a few months back & just a few days ago one of the bartenders took the time to find me on Facebook to let me know that they had it for me in the office! That kind of shit goes a long way with me. It does get pretty crowded on the weekends [some might even say unbearably so] — but it’s infinitely more fun than any of the other spots on west 6th if you ask me. Just grab a drink & find a spot outside where you can watch the madness of west 6th from up high — it’s fucking entertaining.

I came here at 12:30am on an uncrowded Thursday with my bf, completely sober. I sat at the bar trying to get somebody’s attention for 20 minutes and was completely ignored. When I approached a bartender to ask what was up, he explained that a manager had asked him to tell myself and my boyfriend to leave because we were«too intoxicated» to be there. There is no basis for this claim except«you were wearing a hoodie up over your head»(says the bartender.) I’m typing this now 10 minutes later; do I seem totally wasted to you? This same bartender served a completely intoxicated guy before even speaking to me. Steampunk had a weird judgmental system going on… Awful first experience. Avoid this bar if you can.

Had fun there last night. After a LONGLONG wait for them to finish construction & open, I was glad to finally be able to go for my first visit. Large open space, comfy couches outside to enjoy. Several fun video games to challenge your skills(try before AND after a few drinks!) :) (Staff was friendly & drinks were great. I didn’t pay for the drinks, so I can’t speak to the prices.) NOT happy with their ONLY food choice — EXPENSIVE& not a good value — Dock and Roll(see my review of them separately).

We came from out of town and came to experience Austin night life. The bar was empty and it still took ten minutes to get one drink. Worst service ever. The bartender’s were drunk and drinking on the job. There was a misunderstanding and they took money from us that wasn’t rightfully theirs. Please don’t ever go there. They are unreasonable and do not care about their customers. Not only will we not be returning, but the locals we came to visit will never step foot in there again.

The drinks can be pricey but they have specials sometimes. Friendly bar staff, friendly mixed crowd, and a nice outdoor patio. I’m new to Austin and this place has been one of my favorites so far.

Oh, great. Another location for douchey young professional bros and their #yopro biddie equivalents to frequent on West 6th! I just feel so cramped whenever I am there and feel obligated to stand outside by the jumbo size jenga stations just so I can somewhat guarantee that my clothes will stay dry since these fools seem to be unable to hold a glass of beer upright and that my body will remain free of bruises. It seems to always take FOREVER to get a drink here. Team, can we step it up and actually work for the tip that you’re getting by not throwing down drinks and looking like you’re having the worst time? Perhaps my opinion will change once their upstairs area opens up and there will be more room to breathe and everyone will be happier.

$ 9 for a beer !? Seriously !? In town from NYC for a few days and thought this place might look cool inside, it wasn’t. And even in NYC I NEVER paid $ 9 for a beer — come on!!! Decided to grab a beer anyway and hang out for a few minutes … Oof. SO not worth it. There isn’t even anything really«steam punk» about this place besides the bartenders’ attire and a few pvc pipes mounted in weird places that serve no function whatsoever.

If you have good taste, or even suspect YOUMAY have good taste… this place isn’t for you. If you wear pink Ralph Lauren shirts and boat shoes… this may the place for you.

There is a black haired tattooed bartender with glasses that proceeded to hide my cash under the bar while I was trying to pay for my drink. When I put the rest of the money down for my overpriced drink, she said that I never gave her any of the previous money. Aside from her blatant lie, she managed to kick me out. There are plenty of great bars on 6th, don’t waste your time at this one.

Newer hotness for the Star Bar crowd and those that have graduated from some of the other spots down the street. Amazing stone and copper build out– brand new everything! This place has outstanding cocktails and a huge selection of beers on tap. In addition, lots of fun games(skeeball, arcade basketball, Mario Kart, etc.) and amazing 4K TVs placed anywhere the eye can see. The perfect spot for NFL playoffs, happy hour, or a 1am rager. Per a bar tender, they are also opening an upstairs, more intimate seating area in the coming year, as well as a stage for live music and SXSX events. Oh and some outstanding trailer grub outside. This is my favorite bar on W 6th. Check it out.

Holy Moly this place is bad! I don’t know who’s idea it was to try and recreate everything bad about Kung Fu Saloon in a new location but someone should have explained to them one eyesore like that was enough! So this place is packed, with the douchiest people I have ever encountered. I went to the restroom right away and was accosted by what appeared to be two frat guys and their dad who assumed that because I had a beard and back pack. which they referred to as «man purse» that I must be able to sell them some cocaine. I don’t know if he was really their dad but he was middle aged man and they weren’t. I was really confused because when he asked me if I had any blow my first thought was the he was trying to sell me sexual favors or buy them from me. I hate to fault the bar for this but the environment seems conducive to this type of behavior. They were playing the worst sort of DJ/I don’t even know what genre music ever. It was so loud I couldn’t hear anything. It was so packed I could hardly find the restroom. I couldn’t get a beer there were three bartenders and they all seemed so swamped that they no one could get drinks. Instead of having a good time it looked like everyone was clustered in at the bar waiting. I noted the name of the place was«SteamPunk» so I was expecting to see some folks dressed in steam punk fashions. nope. just college kids in the clothes their parents bought them for school. There was this one bartender who embraced the Steam Punk theme of the place but that was pretty much it. The only reason to go to this bar is to walk through it to get out back to the food trailers. They got docknroll and ESK Thai Kun back there and that’s a hard combo to beat. I say visit this bar to walk through to get some food. don’t stop for beer.

You really can’t beat the $ 3 craft pints Sunday — Thursday and the grub out of the food trucks is some of my favorite in the area.

This is definitely my favorite bar on west sixth. Apparently they were building/remodeling this place for 2 years and it shows. Everything about this bar is beautiful. Be sure to check out the bathrooms! One of the better spots to check out the game in Austin because they have huge flat screens everywhere. The $ 3 craft drafts are legitimately the best deal I’ve ever heard of in atx.

Could they at least tried a bit harder? This is obviously an attempt at Kung Fu with food trucks on prem. I miss my fried mushrooms and live music!

I was pretty excited about this place when it opened. Good food trucks, big patio, and a fancy glowy sign. So I got on their Facebook page and asked if they would have cover for New Years. They replied no, except for $ 50 booths. Great! So my friends and I go there and they’re charging $ 20 a head. I explain to them that’s not what they said on Facebook, and they look confused and eventually say«sorry»(the hilarious thing is that they could have definitely used the business.) Anyway, I jump on the Facebook page and reply to their reply saying no cover and 5 minutes later they delete my post. So I post again. Again, deleted. So basically they want to play like it never happened. Not a great way to welcome yourselves into the neighborhood. Pretty embarrassing, really. We ended up spending tons of money at Keybar instead.

Very friendly staff. They are knowledgeable and have interesting stories to tell. Food trucks are right on the patio for a quick bite. One complaint: they would not put on the sound for a College football bowl game. I came dressed in my gear and one of the bartenders is from the same place as me. This place could easily be considered a sports bar on Saturdays and Sundays due to the number of TVs. The excuse was that the owners are very strict about putting on the sound because they want music.

$ 3 drafts today because it was their grand opening, so that was a plus. The bartender that helped me was friendly, but their tap selection left a lot to be desired. Zoe from hops and grain, friend and I had Hop head Red, lots of similar mediocre beers. The place was packed at 5:30 on a Sunday which I found interesting. Great outdoor area with plenty of seating, although there could be more seating inside. Games inside like skeeball etc which make for a fun young atmosphere. I’m giving an extra star to a seemingly mediocre bar because they’ve got an East Side Kings food truck in the back(Thai-kun, same menu as the one at Whisler).

This place is awesome. Bartenders are nice and attentive, people are cool, bathrooms are huge, and there are games and a large patio. Can’t wait for the upstairs to open.

Didn’t have anything of draft bc they just opened… understandable. But then I couldn’t get a drink bc they were on their cell phone.
