I was in tears when I drove up and found the place empty. Not only did they have generous portions and excellent recipes, but it was a small family-owned business that endeared themselves to the Oak Hill community. We loved supporting them and they treated us like family each and every time we came in. They knew my voice when I called my in to-go orders and knew exactly what I wanted, how I wanted it, and had it ready in minutes. If anyone finds out they have moved to another location, PLEASEPOST the info here. I’m already having withdrawals.

This place is officially closed. They had some really good food. After speaking with some other shop owners in the plaza the property owner jacked up their rent sky high. Seeing that this place was mostly take out orders I guess they couldn’t cover the cost. Pretty sad really, another decent Asian restaurant bites the dust in South Austin.

We’ve been eating here since they opened many years ago and I can honestly say after trying Vietnamese at any new place that I come across, none of them are as good as T&N. yes it’s in a strip mall in oak hill but sometimes those are the best places! Hello DK Sushi;) let me address the cleanliness issue. We get take out but we probably eat in just as often and I’ve NEVER seen anything like what some other patrons describe. I’m not saying they didn’t see bugs or whatever but we never have. it is a little lacking in sparkle but still clean for the most part. I even checked their health inspection report after a friend from AMD said he wont eat their anymore because of a similar bug issue. all the inspections are way above passing, which is a 70. you’d be surprised how many popular austin restaurants that i wont name barely pass with 70’s. on to how the food is… anyway, before I stopped eating meat the spicy chicken was my favorite as well as the veggie phở add meatball, but now I get the spicy tofu, veggie phở, or curry tofu. Every dish has amazing flavor. I could literally eat here everyday. We used to live a mile from the but have since moved downtown and this hasn’t stopped us from getting T&N weekly. Oh for meat lovers, my boyfriend gets chicken or beef phở and agrees that it tops the charts. His son gets vermicelli bowls and loved the chicken. It’s always moist and flavorful. The peanut sauce served with the spring rolls is also great. I throw a little siracha in it and I could eat it plain. Some places serve it watery or too thick and flavorless but not here! Go give this place a shot. It’s totally worth the drive. Oh one more thing, the bahn mi are also good but I don’t get one too often because the phở and spicy tofu are too addicting.

Decent bahn mi, the bread was really nice. Warm, light and fluffy. The actual meat in the combination sandwich I ordered was okay. Chicken and pork were over cooked and didn’t have a «charry» enough taste for me. Spring rolls again, were okay. Lettuce and shrimp, but no basil?!

Still awesome — and we’ve started doing delivery a lot since we have a 2 and 4 year olds and they don’t sit still The Phở Tai travels well, but we often get the vermicelli or rice dishes now. The chicken/vermicelli/egg roll is really good and the grilled pork/rice/egg roll as well. If you live in the Oak Hill/Circle C area check this place out — it’s great!

We used to come here a lot for work. The family that runs it is really friendly and nice, but we started being concerned for our health. Numerous times, we’ve run across cockroaches scurrying across the table. The last time I went, I didn’t feel so great for a few days after eating there. I want to support the place, but everything was going downhill, the interior is in a great need of a refresh, the food started to be lacking, and, well, I’ve got better options not too far away that have less cockroaches scurrying around.

Three stars because they serve Phở AND Banh Mi. That is rare even in North Austin. I think they go for the quantity here. Sandwiches are huge, but I’ve had better. But not in South Austin. Sharpstown had me so spoiled. Service was very friendly, décor was minimal and the climate was sub-tropical. Music or TV would be welcomed. It was like Slurpfest 2012. That was the only sound. Slurp, slurp slurp…

I passed this place one day while grabbing Subway for lunch… I decided to read up on it and thanks to a lot of the reviews on here, grabbed some grilled pork banh mi sandwiches the other night. The gentleman who took my order was very courteous and polite and the sandwiches came out pretty quick and definitely delicious. I’m looking forward to trying their monster bowl of phở next time. Prices seem pretty reasonable from perusing the menu.

Good for a quickie. I really like their Banh Mi sandwiches with Pork or chicken. The meat is very flavorful and the pickled carrots and jalapeño give it a good feisty kick. I usually stop by and grab some quick sandwiches to go on my way home. The phở is also good here but i stay away from any of the stir fry and other«Chinese» food as it didn’t taste very good. The owner is really nice though and pretty much there working all the time

We find T&N on Unilocal, then make our way over and find it’s a hole in the wall in a strip mall. This is looking good, people. The walls are um… turquoise? but whatever, the guy comes over right away and takes our order of 2 grilled pork banh mi(the sandwiches) and 2 grilled pork spring rolls to go. After the first bite, I devoured it. My husband had to turn away so I didn’t devour his too. The grilled pork was SOTASTY my mouth is drooling as I type this. The bread was substantial, firm, fresh, everything you want in bread. Then they add cilantro, cucumber and other yummy goodness. I had to remove the healthy dose of Jalapeño(like a huge one with seeds) after the first bite. We also added a tiny bit of mayo and sriracha rooster sauce… deeelish. The spring rolls were only ok because there was no basil in it. It was just lettuce, vermicelli and the SOTASTY grilled pork. I would have probably added the Thai basil to make it party in my mouth a bit more. Regardless, I’m scheming for the next time because I’m hooked! My hubby will have to put up with repeated«Do you want Vietnamese for dinner?» «HOw about Vietnamese?» «Let’s go to T&N» «So…how about that banh mi?» «how about… now?» The place doesn’t get style points for décor, but if they focus on the yumminess of food, I’ll be back!

What does T & N stand for? No clue. There’s just something about walking into a place, suddenly pondering how far you are willing to go concerning a «questionable» restaurant. For me, I walked in doubting this place considerably. It’s in Oak Hill in a shopping center next to a Subway and in the same circle as the formerly infamous Detour bar which my friends and I used to frequent quite some time ago just because. On a Sunday afternoon it felt empty and bare, lacking much of any décor. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised to find a big flat screen TV in the main dining area, with the Houston Texans on TV. Now this place is obviously a «Mom & Pop» eatery and English is definitely not their first language. Allright you got me, I’m in. Their young children were following the apparent husband and wife as they served tables and greeted customers. It didn’t bother me, but I suppose some might not be okay with young children roaming the place. I ordered a typical feast for myself: 1 grilled pork spring roll, 1 grilled pork banh mi, hold the jalapeños please(what sort of Mexican doesn’t do peppers? This one). Finally, what I had been waiting for(my whole life): A warm banh mi! The bread actually seemed to be toasted and browned a bit! This was no baguette, but delicious and soft bread. I don’t know if this is a traditional way to make a Vietnamese sandwich but I liked it. And another first for me, they didn’t skimp on the ingredients! Stuffed full of delicious grilled pork, my oh my what is this wondrous thing! Bursting with shredded sweet carrots and quite possibly the longest cucumber strip I have ever seen. The mayo they used was not my favorite, I prefer other businesses sweet mayo they use. This one almost seemed like it was actual gross American mayo. As you can see, I can only account for what I ate. But I will say that their menu is incredibly long and full of the ever so popular Vietnamese phở bowls. I will definitely be back when I find myself out south again on the weekends.

I bumped into this place after retrieving a costume from a Craigslister, today. Other than that, I’m rarely on this side of town… This place deserves all 4 stars because of the broth, the broth, the BROTH! Also, the chicken in the Phở was fresh, as well as the veggies. In addition, the eggroll was packed with flavorful deliciousness and boasted a perfect crisp texture when bitten into. True, place is not a 5-star building, but when you mix super friendly customer service with an excellent array of intense flavor and perfect al Dante noodles, who’s looking at the interior design? I will be back to try the vermicelli next! 2 thumbs up . Oh and did I mention the broth? yummy :)

This definitely is not worth the 4 stars on Unilocal. I’m Asian so I think I’m a pretty good critic when it comes to phở, but there was nothing remotely special about this place. First off, the atmosphere is extremely depressing. When my fiancé walked in, the place looked kind of dingy and there was not a single soul sitting in the restaurant even though it was lunch during a Sunday(peak time for phở restaurants). I had ordered the spring roll as an appetizer and you could tell it was pre-made because the lettuce inside was browning! Yuck! The phở was decent, but like I said, it was nothing special. If you want REAL phở. The GOOD phở. Either go up north to Chinatown or Dong Nai if you want to stay south. Don’t waste your time here.

Great food that is big on taste and fast in service for a busy area. I stopped in here on the Unilocal*recommendations, and I was not disappointed. My friend and I ordered the Phở with brisket, and the Pork Spring Rolls with iced tea to drink… all very tasty and great. The Phở broth and meat were matched perfect in temperature and taste. The Pork Spring rolls were really good where you could actually taste the smoky grilled pork in contrast to the veggies and textures. Really a good meal for the low prices. As mentioned before, the décor could truly use some updating and refreshing. It is sad that you need to know how good the food is to keep you from turning away when you first walk in. Unilocalers know the reviews and follow the stars, but I am confident that their business would increase greatly if they just simply put some fresh paint on the walls, keep the place well lit, have better décor to add to the dining experience, remove the fake plants, and keep the bathroom stocked with simple paper towel and working lights. This would allow the random walk-ins to be impressed and stay. The food is good, and it is all reminiscent of my worldly travels that focus you to NOT notice the décor but for the reason of the visit. There have been many places I have traveled that did not have the best«looks» and they almost always had the BEST food. This is one of those places. Do stop in for a great affordable meal, and if you offer consulting for a basic«freshening up» of the place; provide them some insight to help them out more. It seems all the attention is in the kitchen and not in the dining area. Thanks for the Phở, I will be back when I am in the area.

I polled some co-workers for lunch last Thrusday, and phở it was! Since we were crunched for time, I saw that T & N was 4 stars and they are nearby — it was ON! With all the recent Talk about phở, and a phở-fix was near, I was excited! The phở was good and had good flavor. Not greatness, but goodness. Phở with brisket and fatty brisket($ 7.50 tax incl. out the door with a water). The veggies and peppers helped balance it out, and the bowl was large! 3 and ½ stars based on lunch here. I have been here a couple of times, and as usual, the service was good, but the ambiance is still pretty basic/neutral. I can’t help but think they might get some more biz(like people on dates?) if they just dressed it up a bit.

This is my new favorite place… and being really close to my work is only like 2% of the reason for it being so! The phở with brisket was delicious. I could have eaten two bowls of it. I also ordered a banh mi because I haven’t ever had one, and they had good recommendations. Well, I was so wrapped up in the Phở, that I only took a couple of bites of the sandwich, but it was definitely delicious. It was so scrumdiddily-umptious that I bought another one, wrapped mine up, and ta da! Dinner is served for tonight :) Hope the bf likes it! My friend ordered the lo mein with broccoli added and all of the veggies still had color and were crisp and beautiful. I hate it when you can tell they’ve been sitting in sauce for hours. Her meal looked very fresh and flavorful(and it was, I stole a bite). So, yes… I will be back! And I will bring friends! It was that good!

I just moved down to dripping springs, this restaurant reminded me of home. Mom’s cooking(Yes I am Vietnamese). It did not look the best but I loved the food. I would defiantly come back, this is the closest Vietnamese shop down Southwest. Give it a try, I really enjoyed what I had.

Yummy! This is damn good Vietnamese food, and I’d say it’s some of the best in town. I consistently try new things on the menu, and haven’t gone wrong yet. They have killer banh mi, and at less than $ 4, it’s cheap as hell. The dishes aren’t adventurous for a regular Vietnamese eater(or someone familiar with the cuisine), but they’re quality, good quantity, and fairly priced. I haven’t had better in Austin, but I have had better in Houston.

This is the best Vietnamese in South Austin. They serve good fresh traditional food. A little bare bones for the décor. I enjoy their food on a regular basis. Some things stand out: The Bahn Mi — I love bahn mi, but even the southside places just don’t serve it. I was pleasantly surprised when they started serving them, but was shocked at first at the 3.95 price. I am used to traditional thin crispy rolls for about $ 2.00. So, I tried a grilled pork and a grilled chicken the other day. Wow. Just wow. The roll is not traditional. It is a big french roll rather than a skinny crispy roll. Instead of modest fillings, it is STUFFED with meat and veggies. It basically a vietnamese sandwich made like a submarine sandwich — and this is one fusion I can get behind because the traditional ingredients are all there, there is just more of them! It is worth the 3.95. It really is. Delicious. Both the pork and the chicken were fabulous. The other thing they have is Vietnamese crepes; something I love and is pretty unusual in Austin. Phở is very good. They have fruit bubble tea. If they had durian, they would get five stars. Vietnamese places don’t get 5 stars from me unless they have durian.
