The food is always pretty good but the last few visits to this location we have not had good service. Tonight’s was worse than usual on service. Waiters were rolling napkins, talking on the phone, doing anything but being helpful while our waiter acted like he had so many tables that he didn’t have time to bring us water(the guy from the kitchen went and got it when he brought our appetizer). Not sure what’s happening with the staffing or management. We are hoping they get it figured out!

Really good tex mex at reasonable prices. Staff was fantastic with everybody helping out to make sure the customers never even had to ask for a refill. Although the food on its own is enough of a reason to come back time after time! With all that said, they can improve a bit on their alcoholic beverages due to the fact that they were a bit to strong and our food took roughly 45 minutes to come out… but it was worth the wait. Food & drinks — 7 out of 10 Customer service — 8 out of 10 Environment — 7 out of 10

Food is ok not the best, but not the worst I have ever had. The place looks clean. Our server on the other hand, I can’t even give you his name. He was so unfriendly and unwelcoming.

If it was an option I would rate it 2.5 stars. Went here for dinner on a Friday night and sat at the bar. The good: Very attentive bartender and the food came out super fast! The bad: Bowl of chips served at my table included many that were nothing but crumbles. The mule I ordered had way too much ginger beer. The shrimp enchiladas were mediocre at best. The rice was pretty awful as well. Will not be coming here again.

I started to give up on Texican due to the poor behavior of the young wait staff… sitting in a booth together, commenting on one another’s facebook — disturbing customers and not knowing it. I came in one more time because the food was really good. I had David as a waiter and he ROCKED!!! The food was cooked correctly as the chimichanga was actually fried this time… the first time, it wasn’t but it was still delicious. I will return because of David’s service and the great meal. Texican — please stay on top of your younger waiters who may not know how to behave at home versus at work.

It is really between 2 and 3 stars. I love the food! I love to get take-out from them. But there is a 50 – 50 chance it will be right. One time, I was told 10min for queso. I took 20 mins to show up and still had to wait 10 more to get the food. Got home and part of it was not there. I called to complain and was given every excuse in how it wasn’t their fault. «The waiter was ringing up someone else when they went to get ur order, the mgr was talking to her boss so she couldn’t help you, it’s not the hostess’s job to get the food, the person that took your order dis not understand how to enter 2bags of chips.» These are all the things that I actually had to listen to. They did end up comping me for the food. But I would rather it just be right. Meals always come with a small salsa and chips. That is unless you order extra and pay for it. So instead they rather make money and not take care of you. I have learned to order the food then come in and pick it up and add the extra salsa to it. Just need them to be more consistent and actually care.

I was on the hunt for eats. I was planning to go to a bookmark spot from Unilocal however they were closing. This made my second visit to this location. My first experience was actually okay. I walked in today and was greeted immediately by two men I guess were the manager and assistant manager. I was taken to a booth in back by the kitchen with bad lighting. I was perplexed because we passed several empty booths to get to mine. I had a tv on my left that I couldn’t see. It was okay because I had two off to my right playing espn. My waiter came over within two minutes of me sitting. David took care of me my whole meal I got my water and chips quickly and the food wasn’t far behind. I got the texican lunch plate. Hardly a plate it was more like something to be shared with a few friends. A taco(on it’s own plate) a beef enchilada, pork tamale, rice and charro beans. Phew! Man my fingers were tired from writing that. My taco seemed dry folks. My first thought was it was the complimentary chips but I drank water. When I bit into my enchilada it confirmed it. The rice was cooked well but no flavor. The tamale was good and I got charro beans that were pretty good. David took care of me and I appreciate that enough to repeat it. If you go in the afternoon look for his area because he earns his tip. Three stars for me and I’m thinking the cedar park location is what I’ll stick with.

Friendly greetings from all of the staff. The food was pretty good, but it was something you could get at any typical Mexican restaurant, which is the only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. The kitchen was very fast in getting our food to us, even though the restaurant was packed. The manager came by to check on all of the tables, which really impressed me. I was so pleased with the hospitality that I had to write a great review! We felt very welcomed even though we haven’t experienced that anywhere else on our trip to Austin. Thanks for the great service!

Went there yesterday for lunch. Do not no hwo they are surviving as there was almost no one there. food is good and the prices are moderate. The service was a little slow considering how few customers there were and we wer the only ones out on the patio. But overall, not too bad.

Decent Tex Mex. Not anything too bland nor flashy. I got the Shrimp Enchiladas which I thought were great. I’d go back. They had a huge, long table with a gender reveal party happening while we were there so this is a fine place to go with a large group it seems.

I went here for dinner upon the recommendation of a client. He had commented that it was as close to El Paso tex-mex as he could find in Austin. I’ve never been to El Paso, but I love the song. I was served complimentary nachos and salsa. The salsa actually had some kick to it. I was happy heading into picking out my dinner. The menu was similar to a restaurant back home, Mexicali Rosa’s. However the food tasted much better. I opted for the Texican Dinner, as I felt a combo plate with a Taco, Enchilada and Tamale would be a great idea. I was correct. My favourite was the taco and I could have just had an entire taco meal. The food was really fresh, and was served promptly. I should note that I liked the Tamale too. The enchilada was par with others I’ve had. For dessert, I had the homemade tres leeches cake. The portion size is big enough for sharing. I should have brought my wife. It was good and I ate the whole thing. I felt guilty afterwards and spent an hour in the hotel gym working it off. As an aside a few other people have commented about the GPS directions being incorrect. They are right, I had to pull into an office building area just at the bottom of the hill and driving up to the restaurant.

Texican — first off I’m from El Paso and this place serves El Paso style Mexican food. The food was fairly authentic but not grandma level good. The staff was friendly but we came for lunch and it’s so dark in here I felt a little weird. Anyway, the food was decent and the lunch specials were reasonably priced. Nice average place. Nothing disappointing and nothing extraordinary.

I get around when it comes to Tex Mex. Texican Café does not cut it. I kind of forgot that I event went here until I looked at my Unilocal bookmarks. Now I remember and I’m sad I remember. It was a cold rainy Wednesday night, and I wanted to try something new. They have nightly specials and Wednesdays are fajitas. I was SO excited. I love fajitas. They make me happy. We get there and the host is not even acknowledging us. He’s just fiddling around with something. Then he looks up and casually takes us to our table. He seats us right by the servers station even though there is plenty of seating in other less annoying parts of the restaurant. I’m already turned off at this point. Our sever comes and he is just as lack-luster. We order drinks and my martini is good. The chips and salsa are okay, but I have high standards. I got queso(because queso) and it wasn’t very good. We order and then have to wait for our food while our server hangs out at the little server station. He clearly wasn’t into his job that night. Our food arrives and I’m over the entire experience. The fajitas were so bland I didn’t even eat them. I just used the tortillas to make a cheese roll-up. I’m not ever going back.

Don’t usually eat down south but met my nephew for some margaritas. Margaritas were pretty good, they have this sampler margarita tray, if you can’t decide. They also had their fajitas for two for $ 16, and they were pretty darn good, kinda like Baby A’s. Now the service was a little slow and the waitress forgot our appetizer but also forgot to put it on the bill. If anything, the service needs some help, but not the fajitas or margaritas.

I stopped in here for lunch the other day with a co-worker and I was impressed. We sat on the patio because it was a beautiful day. The patio faces away from 360 so it actually was nice and not loud like you might expect. They have daily specials and the San Antonio enchiladas were on the list. It is chicken enchiladas with carne guisada on top … yum! They were delicious and the chicken inside was perfectly cooked. My friend got the nachos and she said they are here favorite as she gets them every time. FYI — Half chick and half beef is an option and not on the menu. Our waiter here was awesome. I can not wait to come back here when I am not working so I can get the margarita flight! I am all about that. My San Antonio Enchiladas were with a drink was like $ 8 … not bad! I will be back here for sure!

I want to send a big hug to Kelly for reintroducing me to The Texican. I’d been here a few times years ago but had written it off as just another Tex-Mex join in town. Until that famous Elite Event where I got to try their margarita flight and some of their food items, AND got a sweet, sweet gift card to go back. And go back I did! The Texican makes a bold claim on their sign — «El Paso Style Mexican» and while I don’t think all their dishes are El Paso style, I will give them a huge pat on the back for their El Paso style sauce. It’s legit and this is from an El Paso born Tex-Mexican. Not as spicy as I’d like, but it has the right flavors. Also on my must list– the San Antonio Migas, the Blue Corn Tortilla Soup, the Queso Flameado, The Queso Maya, the Cucumber Margarita, the Mexican Martini, the Mango Jalapeño Margarita — double yessss! If you didn’t get it before, this list should hopefully send the right message. Get it! PS The only reason I am holding back on the 5th star is their refried beans. They’re sub par.

I attended an event here last month, which was awesome. My return visit to use my $ 10 gift card was less than stellar. I arrived(to meet a friend) and was immediately seated in the bar area. She didn’t ask if sitting in the bar was OK(I would have preferred sitting in the main dining area). The waiter approached and took my drink order right away, but when I asked him to change a channel, he refused stating«it’s a sports bar». Even though what I was requesting was technically a sport(much more so than the golf channel that I can assure you no one was watching because it wasn’t that busy). Sports bar? Questionable. Few, if any were watching the TVs. The food was very good as it is at the other locations. The cucumber infused margarita was just as I remembered it — outstanding! No complaints there. Except it did take several requests to get the jalapeños I had asked for, so my appetizers did cool down quite a bit while I waited. Bummer. Overall, a bit disappointed with the service at this location. Will I be back? To the Lakeline location — absolutely! I’m still a big fan of Texican, their drinks and their food. This location is not convenient for me unless I’m visiting my south Austin friends. And with my experience today, this particular locale would not be my top South Austin stop when there are so many other choices in the area. Food and drinks were GREAT! Service was so-so.

So if you are not familiar w/the kinda weird shopping center this location is located, know there is really only one way to get in and it is off S. Lamar. Do not follow your GPS and try and access it off 360 because there is not an entrance… trust! First off… if you ever have a case of the Mondays then turn that blue frown upside down w/any of their Dulce Vita drinks! Everything from the just perfect Mexican Martini to the exotically spiced Cucumber marg to my favorite, the quixotic La Morada, made my inner tequila drinker: squee: with glee! The food was sooooo good too! I thought I was seeing double from the extra round of tequila tasters, but there was actually just that much food! I am usually not a spicy-food consuming omnivore, but holey-guacamole were the poppers good and the jalapeño jelly they come with; I now it want officially slathered on everything!!! Also, they do their sopapillas oh-so-right! The waitstaff was so friendly and the experience here was fantastic! They have a double happy hour an late lunch specials from 11am-4pm, which I will have to come and check out. I am officially applying for citizenship as a Texican(they have a loyalty program you can join)!

Monday night at 6pm. Not too crowded. Quick and friendly service. Started with a La Morada w/Dulce Vita Silver. I’m not much of a drinker so this sweet drink was definitely my taste. Stuffed jalapenos were yummy. Crispy and filled with a good amount of cream cheese to balance the jalapeño. The jalapeño jelly serviced with it is the best dipping sauce ever! Monterey Migas. The pork was so soft and not greasy at all! Good amount of eggs, carne, and queso. Quesadilla Compuestas(Chicken and Beef). These were my favorite. The tortillas were thin and soft, which is what I prefer. Chicken and beef were grilled and both juicy and tender. The melted white cheese in the quesadillas were exactly the right amount, making it chewy without being too cheesy. Add the roasted green tomatillo salsa for a good kick! Overall, a good, affordable, tex mex chain!

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night. We were seated right away, service was super prompt. The place was clean, tons of seating, an outdoor patio, and a separate bar area with additional seating. There were TONS of TVs throughout the entire restaurant to catch the game. The décor gave off a true Tex Mex vibe! We started with the Hatch Chile Queso, and margaritas… so good! I got the cheese El Paso Enchiladas with side of rice, both were authentic tasting. My other half got the Burrito Asada and he cleaned his plate. The servings were huge and come with a tortilla cup of homemade pico de gallo, which I thought was a nice touch. With the TVs, tasty food, and easy parking… we will be back often! Wednesday nights are fajitas for two, only $ 15! Perfect serving for a date night. We got the steak, such good flavor and not gross fatty pieces of meat(I’m super picky).
