We stopped in for a quick drink and grabbed a Austin Mule and Summer Cucumber from their main attraction cocktail list on the wall. Not sure what to expect from the Austin Mule but after taking a few sips and having a spicy taste from the ginger beer and jalapeño it truly was a badass drink! First timers here and it was pretty good.

The first night of my first visit to Austin, and walking back to our East Austin AirBnB room, we decided to stop in for a quick one. We had been really turned off by the grungy, stale-beer-smelling bars on 6th Street downtown on the other side of I-35, with doormen aggressively trying to pull you in from the sidewalk with promises of cheap drinks. It was a Sunday night and The Brixton was nearly empty, but listening to the great old school punk playing on the sound system made me feel immediately at home. Where have I heard the Dead Kennedys, Dead Milkmen, and Sham 69 in succession anywhere? And yeah, I’m old enough to have seen all those bands back in the day, but we didn’t feel out of place despite the bartender being young enough to be our daughter. When she confirmed my hunch that the place was named after the Clash song The Guns of Brixton I was sold. She was a sweetie and chatted us up like we were regulars. Beer selection was decent and prices reasonable and the overall vibe was pleasant. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Great little dive bar on the east side. Local hang out. The whiskey and bourbon selection is respectable for a bar like this. Nice outdoor area when the weather is nice. The service is great, bartendress was friendly and knew her stuff.

I officially LOVE The Brixton! We were the first customers on a sunday when it opened… walked a pretty good way in 100+ heat and were immediately offered ice waters while we settled in and looked over the specialty drink menu. Must have drinks: London Calling Mule Rose Noir …and my personal favorite… the Sex Bob-Omb. I love the local feel. I think this may be my «go-to» place from now on!

Came here last night for Monday bingo night, it was so much fun! Everyone got a round of free shots and free pizza, how nice is that? And watching people sing/dance in order to get their bingo prizes was hilarious. Only minor annoyance was in between calling out the bingo numbers the music was blaring so loud to the point where my friends and I had to yell in order to hear each other, but overall we had a great time. We’ll be back!

I like this place! Great staff, great atmosphere, cool patio for smokers, great selection of booze, cool music on the jukebox.

I love this bar. It’s grungy and full of locals(which in Austin means it’s a gem) and has an awesome selection of music on the jukebox. Day or night — this is one of my east side favorites. P. S. people know that bar rescue is(like most reality TV) influenced/pretty fake right?

The Brixton is a very versatile bar. On Monday’s they have Brixton Bingo. If you love free pizza, popcorn, prizes, and the occasional free shot I suggest you go. What other bar is so generous enough to offer the ENTIRE bar a free shot when 069 is called? Seriously, it’s awesome. Aside from the occasional free shot at Bingo, you get to spend time with a pretty diverse crowd — which I appreciate. The owners and the bartenders are literally the sweetest human beings. I’m sorry if you feel otherwise. They are attentive, friendly, and the drinks are always affordable. There are plenty of Happy Hour’s and Drink Specials to chime in on throughout the week, too. If you want to get down and dance on a Monday, chill out and drink frozen drinks on a Sunday, or enjoy an old fashioned on a Wednesday — go to The Brixton.

Monday Night Bingo. Free food & cheap Beer-what’s not to love! My review is too short so I have to keep talking – Great atmosphere with the cool candle lit bar spilling out onto the airy Austin street scene deck. Go there-it’s cool!

Probably my new favorite spot to hang out in Austin. I love dancing but I don’t love clubbing. I like community style seating in open air. I like tunes from classic to house and everything in between. I like good beer and better drinks. I LOVE the Brixton.

Here is what I like about the Brixton … They always seem to have some frozen drink machine that is refreshingly delicious. They are kinda right in the middle as far as eastside bars go, so when you are making the trek from Liberty or Whisler to Shangri La this is the perfect place to pop in for a frozen drink or a shot. You know … gotta keep that buzz going if you are hoppin! I also like that I usually run into some interesting, friendly people here. All in all I do not usually seek out the Brixton, but when I am in the area I do find myself here from time to time. The bar is pretty small and they only have one women’s restroom which is annoying. Overall cheap drinks and definitely and Ok stop when you are out and about doing all those east side shenanigan thangs!

Really solid happy hour and it goes late most nights so it’s a great place to start your East Austin night. Overall The Brixton is in a great location which almost works against it because there are so many great options in the area around the bar. The workers are great and the drinks are cheap but beyond that there aren’t a lot of defining elements that allow it to compete in the crowded Eqst Austin bar scene.

Horrible service and staff. Drinks are terrible. Music is terrible, my «Austin mule» tasted like what pine-sol smells like. We asked for our tab and were literally ignored while the staff played on their phones. This places sucks.

Do you like $ 3 beers? Do you like attentive bartenders? Do you like bearded men wearing flannel, skinny jeans and toms? This is your place! All jokes aside we came here on a Monday night and were not disappointed. Drinks were cheap, mixed and draft, and the service was great.

I am a longtime patron of The Brixton, and basically was quite fond of this place until I encountered them on Facebook. I made a lighthearted comment referring to their bar as Rocket Lounge, in reference to their temporary name change. I meant no disrespect, and did so affectionately, which was clear to any reasonable person. They removed the comment on Facebook, at which point I wrote a review of their business on Facebook, criticizing their censorship. They then proceeded to block me from their Facebook page. I can’t in my right mind support the image of folks who are so petty and insecure in their image that they would ostracize a customer of several years simply for making a joke about their appearance on a nationally aired television program. You’re the ones who sold out and went on TV, changed your name and apparently, in your own minds, damaged your image to locals. Maybe you should have considered how silly you would look before you did so. Either way, considering the light, playful nature of my Facebook post, I see no reason to stop by for a quick drink anymore; you take yourselves way too seriously!

We are big fans of Bar Rescue, have seen every episode. We were super excited to try this place and we’re hugely disappointed. We like the actual bar itself and the atmosphere but the bartender was extremely rude. Went to the bar to order our drinks, when she finally got to us she barely made eye contact with us and was very short with us. Not helpful at all with a beer selection. It seemed as if we were inconveniencing her, she was too busy carrying on conversation with the people next to us to give us the time of day. Graffiti all over the bathrooms. F word was proudly displayed in multiple places. And to top it off, on tv, there was a live video of a woman getting her nipples pierced… No censorship… Classy Will not return and will not refer this place to friends. Also, the location is less than desirable.

My friend’s sister hosted a sort of pre-wedding party and gathering here. We sat outside — it was hot — but the crowd of people were fun so no one noticed. They allowed my friends to set up their own music and decorations. It was fun and when I needed to cool off the interior had decent A/C.

British-themed weirdly expensive bar on E. 6th. I couldn’t stop singing The Clash in my head, but the music here wasn’t really my favorite. Or the prices for the cocktails — $ 9 for a Pimm’s cup! The bartenders are very nice, but I don’t think the Brixton is my scene. A little bit younger crowd and more party than hanging out. Kind of grungy and not in a good way. They do have cocktails that use ice pops as a straw, though. Props for that. The Pimm’s cup was actually delicious.

I was in here last night. 2 women were sitting outside enjoying drinks, nothing out of the ordinary. I was with a rather large group of friends. We got our drinks and stood outside under the patio heaters. It was colder inside that outside, those patio heaters are that awesome. We continued drinking and talking, when suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I see one of the aforementioned woman, take her shirt off. Her friend followed suit. So now they were sitting there without shirts on, in bras, on a patio. We’re still not sure why this is happening. They go inside get shirts, and then come outside and try wearing shirts again. I guess they were swapping shirts or something. We all get back to our business. A few minutes later, I have sense of deja vu. Is this really happening? Have they taken off their shirts again? Yes. One of them proceeds to take her bra off, flash the whole bar and patio, and the walkers and bikers on the street outside. Boobs. They proceeded to get their clothes back on. We went on with our drinks. I don’t know what it is about this place, but it is fucking awesome. New drink recommendations for the Brixton — The Dark and Stormy — dark rum, ginger beer, and lime juice. The Texas Mule — Deep Eddy vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice. I clearly love ginger beer.
