Gloria at the fabric shop sewed pockets into my tote bag for a very reasonable price– and I couldn’t be happier! It was a super pretty floral tote bag that I used for work, but unfortunately the tote bag came without pockets, leaving me prone to disorganization. But Gloria was able to help me in a jiffy and I am so happy. Now my tote bag is fabulous and functional! She is also magnificent with all other things sewing related, too! Highly recommend!

Did I walk in the same shop? Everything was 6.98 a yard. For 7 bucks a pop, I want something with some style. I was reminded of Jean Kerr’s mother being shown a very matronly dress. She turned to the saleswoman and said«My dear, all my friends are being buried in that.» So next time I need a shroud…

The Fabric Shop is a cute little(literally) store on the NE corner of Oltorf and S. Congress. I’ve been there twice to get notions, but haven’t been inspired to get fabric. They have all the standard notions and the owner was really sweet and nice and we talked for a while. The fabrics were a little too cutesy and/or grandma-style for me. I would definitely recommend this fabric store — especially if you’re in quick need of some bias tape or thread, or a zipper. But they have a limited selection of fabric that seems a little behind-the-times. Friendly and kind service, though, is always a plus, and its very reasonably priced
