I really needed to find a new art framing shop after the my favorite local framing consultant retired. I’ve been fortunate enough to live in Austin for 35 years, and I’ve seen the Frame Corner on Burnet Road forever, so I decided to give them a try.(I like to find small local businesses whenever I can for my projects. It’s great to talk directly with the person who is actually doing the work, especially since my unique projects can get a little complicated.) Peggy Linehan is the owner and was happy to take the time to ensure that I got the best results given my needs and budget. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and her suggestions and advice were great. I didn’t feel like just a claim ticket in a long line of jobs. The process felt like a collaboration and the results were amazing. Just wanted to pass this along in case there’s someone else like me out there that might have things that Hobby Lobby just can’t handle. :) The selection and personal service are well worth the trip.

I am sincerely baffled by just how terrible the customer service is here. It’s like it’s a bad joke or something. I was extremely thorough and clear with A) what I needed framed and B) when I absolutely had to have it done. I even gave them half of the overpriced estimate just to make sure they could order the material needed. A week later Peggy still had not ordered the material. The piece ended up being 3 days late for the date it was explicitly for. On top of that, it was done incorrectly and Peggy promised to fix it . So I gave her 3WEEKS to order the correct colored and sized metal plate. I dropped in 3 weeks later and she hadn’t ordered it. Half a week later I went back and she had ordered the wrong sized plate and still not inserted into the matting like I explicitly and repeatedly had requested. And this was after 3 emails and two trips up north just to clarify exactly what was ordered. It was at this point that I just gave up and took it to another shop where the people didn’t lie and cover it up with excuses.

Just go somewhere else. Rude service. I use the term service loosely. Dropped a large broken picture frame off to be repaired. The lady tried to talk us into spending an extra $ 400 for new glass. When we told her we just wanted the frame repaired she begrudgingly said ok. 3 months later. No call, so we drop in. The frame hadn’t been touched. The clerk said he could fix it today. We ask why it hadn’t been repaired before. His answer. «The squeaky wheel gets the oil.» Poor business philosophy!

I had used Frame Corner before so was expecting good service. When I paid for frame on May 1, 2014, I mentioned that the frame appeared scratched and that the edges were flakey. Peggy put putty on the edges and said the frame is supposed to look like that. I returned May 18, 2014 and asked for a refund because I disliked the look, as it CLEARLY states on the receipt-return within 30 days for a full refund. I was accused of wanting a free frame(of course I didn’t-I gave it back) and was told to come back the next day, she was too busy. I returned May 19, 2014 to retrieve my picture and refund. Peggy refused my refund and said she was out of product so she can only give me half. I said the receipt did not say refund minus parts. However, she was unrelenting so I accepted partial refund. Moral of story: you will have to pay for your frame job whether you like it or not, and in spite of what the receipt says. Not sure she understand customer service. Very disappointing.

I really wanted to like this place, as it is a local business in the ‘hood. Peggy was really nice, but it was hard to figure out which frame, and it was surprisingly difficult for her to figure out the pricing on the different frames. In the end, we found one that worked. What really bothered me was that it took twice as long as it was supposed to, and she never called to update me. When I spend $ 400 up front, and then never hear back 4 weeks later, I am disappointed.

I entrusted Peggy with framing our wedding ‘guest book’ art. After looking at several frame options in her store, and relaying to her my taste, Peggy picked out the perfect frame(from memory). She did not have the exact color in the store, but showed me the similar style and the frame color in a catalog. The frame was spot on! We also discussed mat color, taking her advice. The end product is beautiful. Only hiccup, that I didn’t realize until I got the piece home, was that there were some pencil lines that I wanted erased, and some stray marks I wanted covered up with the mat. I took it back in(several weeks later because I had been out of town), and relayed to Peggy what I remembered from our initial conversation. We agreed there was some miscommunication, but Peggy made the changes I requested at no charge, and turned around the work very quickly. Awesome! I will certainly return to Peggy for my next custom frame.

I had a really nice frame that was a gift that I wanted to reuse for another piece and she had suggested that I cut the frame down to make it more proportional. I went with it. Took a bit longer than anticipated and when I picked it up they had forgotten to cut the frame down so it looked funky. I brought it back in and she totally made good on everything and I walked away very pleased. I am always impressed when the service end of things overdelivers. Yes, they made a mistake but more than made up for it. I will return.

Went in today wanting to ask about getting a frame for a certain post card and walked out absolutely blown away. I cannot believe how wonderful the service here was! Peggy, the shop owner, was so helpful and sociable; she was a pleasure to talk with and she really knows her stuff. Even though I had not committed to buying anything she was nice enough to sit down with me and give me a quote for a potential design. She had a nice repoire with other customers, too. I will definitely be going back to The Frame Corner in the future!

As I read over the other reviews, I know it is not easy to please every person. And someone can have a bad day and not greet a customer with a smile or be as agreeable as some would like. However, my experience with Peggy was great. She is an expert. She really cares that her customers use the correct matting, acid –free, of course. She tells it like it is. I myself am very particular about framing, which is in itself an art form. When I am in front of an expert, I listen. With the overwhelming options that Peggy offers, I sat back and watched her put together a look for me that I would never have found for myself. It was perfect. I would never bring to Michaels any piece that had any value to me, And even though they tout all these coupons, any time I had anything framed there, it always ended up to be way more expensive than I thought it should be. And although they have never lost anything, I always had the feeling that their security was not that tight. You get what you pay for and with Peggy you get expertise, quality, taste and reliability. She will give you her opinion and if you are smart, you will listen.

I brought in an original piece hoping to find an interesting frame. Peggy is amazing, she had terrific ideas and helped me pick out a unique look. Her price was about the same as Michael’s but the work and quality of frame was far superior. I highly recommend using a locally owned business when you get this kind of expertise. Framing isn’t cheap, but done well, it looks great. I will be back.

I had been wanting to get something framed and I noticed this place while I was next door at Uptown Modern. What a great local business! They’ve been around since 1971 and do wonderful custom framing. Yes, it’s pricey but that’s just the way framing is. Why skimp on something that will be hanging on your wall for years to come? The owner is very helpful and has a great eye. My new frame looks so nice that I’m going to have to go back and get other pieces in my house re-framed because they look shabby in comparison.
