The selection here is amazing. As one friend recently put it, «its like walking into the Disneyland of Beers.» Throw some darts and sip on a pint of their cask drawn ales.

All you need to know here is they have beer and lots of it. I was equally impressed to find they had Hofbrau beer on draft. Being a fan of beer especially German beer this had made my day.

The service makes this one of the worst bars to visit in Austin and the manager was equally crappy to us. Shame because the staff at all other Ginger Man locations are always fun & friendly. Never going back to this one.

4⁄5 solid stars This was off the beaten path, which was nice. If you’re looking for a more intimate, less chaotic environment than the main streets, this is the place to be. Great ambiance, service, and a place to catch up. Service was great. We had a huge party, so they gave us the back room! They have a great list of wine and beer; I don’t really drink cocktails, so I cannot attest to those drinks.

Great spot downtown with many beers to sample and quench your thirst! Came on a Sunday evening and it wasn’t busy at all! Bartender was knowledgeable about the different types and made great recommendations. Great place to meet up. no frills simple decorated pub/bar. Only had drinks but they also had food on their menu. And BEER floats? Right on!

Easy atmosphere, good beer/drinks and great staff. What more can you ask for? Check out the back patio area for great views of downtown and the various iconic buildings. We ended up here after an evening out and it was close enough to the action of 6th st. without getting bumped into every 2 seconds. Many good items on tap, and clean restrooms. Indoor easy seating, a long bar and a lounge area with sofas/chairs round out the space.

So Ive been to the Ginger Man at least five times. GREAT selection of beer, NOQUESTION! Tonight however, I tried the food menu. I ordered the Dogfish Head Chicken Feta Bratwurst. TOTALDISAPPOINTMENT! Not because of taste. Taste good. DISAPPOINTMENTBECAUSEOFSIZE. I received a TON of flatbread, which I didnt care for because of carbs. The bratwurst, the main selling point mind you, was this dinky little Japanese-penis-size thing that I couldnt believe past as a Brat. NOTWORTHTHEMONEY!!! If you come here, it should be because of the beer, NOTTHEFOOD. Three stars are for beer. Zero stars for food!!!

When I arrived tonight, I was super excited when I saw that a blonde waitress that I had become acquainted with in the past had gotten promoted to Bartender. Then, we got in the topic of IPA’s(please keep in mind that I have messaged this establishment several times inquiring about employment via Twitter and their e-mail/website/contact info from a newsletter. They have never responded; yet, after messaging if they needed help once after seeing the GM bussing tables during SXSW, I saw an almost immediate positing on Poached for a BarBack. I have experience, I applied, I never got a call back, and can’t help but think that what I am about to describe is an immature life-threatening joke that is the result of the GM’s history of being best pals with his employees… But, I digress.) She started pouring me samples. The last one, the one she gave me after I ordered and she poured my beer and ran my card to start a tab, tasted like oranges. She served it to me in a glass that was chipped all the way to from the rim to near the bottom. I wouldn’t have noticed, except she made a point to tell me, and drew my attention to it with a sarcastic remark when taking the glass away. This is what can happen to someone who swallows glass: I’m happy you think it’s so funny, and not such a big deal. The least you could do for someone who might have to go to the hospital for you brutally abusive mockery is cover their tab. If I die or get sick, I am suing you. Please keep in mind that another, more seasoned, Bartender was in view when all of this was happening as well. There were only three people working.

The Ginger Man is a classic in Austin, with a beer selection and knowledge that doesn’t need my review. Tonight I write about the Ginger Man’s staff attention to patrons. I arrived by bicycle to meet a friend. Locked my bike right in front of the business, and went to the back patio. Less than an hour in, the manager, Richard came to our table asking if we had ridden in, and if one of our bikes matched his description. He had caught a guy cutting my Kryptonite cable lock. He confronted the perpetrator, who left the scene, leaving my bike just sitting there. Thank you Richard for caring. My bicycle means a lot to me. Somehow it didn’t sink-in that you had just saved it from being stolen until after you left. It was THAT close. I left a small token of gratitude for you. You are thoughtful and I hope you recover your own bicycle.

We came into the Ginger Man for a few rounds of beers before dinner and were not disappointed. They have a great selection of mostly Texas beers with almost any type or style to fit what you desire. The bar is long, spacious and comfortable enough to keep you there a while. Our service was perfect as any bartender was eager to refill an empty glass. Also, out back they have a cozy open air space with great views of the downtown area. Thanks!

They have lots of beer. Like lots of beer. Tons of beer. So much beer. And a neat outdoor patio where I saw some metal band play. While drinking beer. Like lots of beer. Tons of beer. So much beer.

Found«The Ginger Man» after searching Unilocal(what else) and as usual it did not disappoint. They must have over 100 bears on draft, plus another 60+ in bottles! So pretty good chances you can find something you will enjoy. The funky music on(Watts 103rd St Band) contributed to a cool vibe. Throw in some dart boards, couches, some quiet nooks a great patio out back and a huge bar. This place rocks!

I’m pretty sure that Ginger Man is my favorite bar downtown and probably one of my favorite bars in Austin. If you suggest going to the Ginger Man, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will find some way to make it out. The beer selection is incredible and is constantly rotating. The bartenders really know their stuff and they’ve recommended some solidly awesome beers to me based on other beers I’ve enjoyed. I love when people help me find new favorite beers because I do love my beer. As if the beer and the great service weren’t enough to get me in the door, Ginger Man also has dart boards. And not just any old shitty dart boards like you might find other places. They actually have GOOD dart boards. I love beer and I love darts — combine both and I’m in heaven. I almost always play a few games of darts when I’m here because how could I not? They really do have my favorite dart boards and they don’t charge you to play. I’ve never had any of the food, but I imagine I will some day and I imagine it will be pretty good. I just don’t see them letting me down since they’ve never let me down in any other way. Heck, even the bathrooms are clean when I have to use them. I even love the dark atmosphere — adds to the mystery. They also have pint nights where they feature a beer and, if you order it, it comes with a special glass. Not only do they offer a crazy selection of beer, kick ass dart boards, knowledgeable service, and clean bathrooms, but they also give away glasses with beers on pint night?! Could this place get any cooler? I love The Ginger Man. Honestly, does it really get any better than this?

If you like beer, then Ginger Man is probably your favorite bar in this part of Austin. A wall of taps and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors makes for quite the brew-consuming environment. If you’re overwhelmed by the selection, don’t hesitate to ask the bartenders for a recommendation, they’re always happy to help. Monday night is pint night and you get to take home the(usually) branded glass with your purchase. Great way to expand your glassware collection. Drank a few beers and too cheap to pay for an Über? There are many Cap Metro bus routes that stop immediately in front of the pub including the Metro Rapid.

Somewhat surly service and a complete lack of sour beer varieties leads me to give this place three stars. Additionally– there is no way to know what any of the beers cost before ordering one– so be ready to get slugged with some high prices when you ask for your check. They have a HUGE selection of beers. They have zero options for liquor.

Came here for a friends birthday. been here for 30 minutes. no service. people next to me have already gone through 3 beers. das not it mane. this is the worst first experience I’ve ever had a bar in Austin. I’m sitting here sweating my balls off outside and I ain’t even wearing underwear. Let me be real here Jackie. learn to pour a beer, don’t ask if I have a bottle opener and don’t be cheeky with me. My friend is pretty upset that he had such terrible service on his birthday.

Wow the atmosphere here is awesome. I felt comfortable here the minute I walked in. They have a mixed crowd which is nice. It’s a little dark inside but not too bad. Just takes a minute to get used to after being outside. Large selection of draft beers.

Mr. Smidgens has seen places come and go. The Gingerman has been around forever! It may have moved locations but it feels like home. With so many beers on tap that you can’t help but try them all at some point. All you have to do is ask. On Monday nights they usually do a featured beer where you get to keep the glass or glasses with your beer purchase. So, if you need a set of glasses, go check out the GM on Monday nights. You’re welcome. They have darts for you competitive types. You can choose to post up at the bar, one of the many tables or couches inside, and or you could take the party outside on their patio. The choice is always yours. So, head on down to the Gingerman and have a beer for Mr. Smidgens. Why? Because you can!
