Casual east-side establishment with a «laid-back» feel. Great burgers and starters, and a nice beer list. Excellent selection of fries, tots, or rings. Smallish bar, a couple of covered outdoor tables. Big upstairs open area.

I struggled between the two or three star rating, but everything was not A-OK, so 2 stars it is. Walking into a big empty bar, I thought that maybe we were early, and lucky us for having so many seating options. My party of three was sat right next to the hostess stand, so I assumed we would have great service, being as visible as we were. Unfortunately, it took about 10 minutes for someone to come take our drink order, despite about 5 servers standing in the register/silverware area, many times stopping to watch Ferris Bueller, which was on the tv. When our waitress did come to our table she just looked at us and didn’t say anything, then she finally said«so… do you guys like want drinks or something?» Needless to say, it was very bizarre, and I am NOT a picky person when it comes to service, I just like to be greeted in a timely matter and have someone be pleasant. When the food did arrive my grilled cheese was barely melted and looked like something you would get in a grade school lunch. The veggies I ordered on the side were soggy. The silo fries could be described as a bowl of fries with stuff on top, but when you pick up a fry everything falls off. So, you eat regular fries and are left with a bowl full of crumbled cheese and bacon bits. The wedge salad was good, and I did enjoy that, hence the two stars and not one. Even despite the awesomely low prices I would not go back.

The Silo on 7th is just east of I-35 right next to downtown Austin. This interesting spot serves a series of craft beers. They have a long list of special drinks to go for. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating along with a 2nd floor outdoor deck to see the Austin downtown skyline. Plenty of TVs to watch the game, friendly staff and a very chill Austin vibe. Small parking lot but there is free parking on certain streets(watch out for residential sticker only sign on certain streets). The burgers are thick cut ½lb sized that are cooked about medium well. Buns are toasted, served with fresh toppings, different cheeses, crispy bacon, avocado and several options. They have a Bahn Mi burger which looks good to try. Fries are freshly made in house, however the onion rings were rather diced onion strings with not much seasoning. I thought the burger was cooked well, decent cheese, and good toppings. Beef was cooked ok, but I just wanted a bit more seasoning for mine. Interior is very clean and well kept along with all the outdoor tables on ground and 2nd floor. Burger prices are between $ 10 – 14 with fries included. They offer good appetizers, chicken sandwiches, salads and a few other options. Brunch is served on the weekend. I feel this place is better for a social drink spot than food. Outdoor nights in Austin with sports on the tv, craft beers and good drinks make this a great venue to venture in east Austin. Since it is so close to downtown, it is a very brief walk from main 6th street area to venture over to. I was there during the daytime, but I can imagine this spot gets packed at night. The outdoor 2nd story deck is really a great spot to sit out, get a great view of Austin and have a few drinks. The food is good, just not amazing. I am tough with new Austin places, because I am trying to determine is this place true to ATX roots or just trying to be a place that doesnt fit Austin lifestyle. I would say The Silo is prob better for drinks than burgers, but is still a worthy spot to venture to in east Austin.

Was super impressed with Silo on 7th this weekend. Came in with a GIANT party– 20 or so. They were ready for us. $ 3 margaritas on a Saturday night. Delicious apps(the fries were legit.) Husband and I split a burger with chipotle mayo, pineapple and beets. More then enough food. They literally split it in half for us, with our own condiments and everything, and seperate trays which was not only considerate, but helped me actually get my share of the food :) Then at the end the owner brought out free shots for everyone. Totally sweet move. To wrap up, great space(including some beautiful patios.) Great for large groups. Incredibly delicious food(super reasonable price.) Will totally return again.

Pretty cool exterior that fits the name(Silo). It’s a relaxed spot — no frills. I came for the burger which was not bad but not great — 3 stars. They do have an outdoor area which was not desirable at the time based on the weather. Service was good and food came out promptly — although was not terribly busy. Not a bad place at all I guess nothing stood out too much upon my visit. Done.

The boy and I went here for dinner last night and were not disappointed. The only reason it got a 4 star rating was because of service. Our server took forever to come by and actually the hostess saw we didn’t have drinks and took the order. I’m not sure if he was loaded down with too many tables or what the deal was? The bad service continued throughout the night unfortunately :/ I loved the location! We sat upstairs in the patio and the view of downtown was awesome. Last night was perfect to sit out and enjoy the cool breeze. On to the food. We were not disappointed. I got the chicken salad sandwich and added bacon to it. I’m pretty picky with my chicken salad and this was delicious, seasoned appropriately, and a good portion with the side of fries. The boy had the Lydia burger which had a honey habanero sauce he didn’t much enjoy. He said it was pretty much just honey but the burger and everything else was yummy. I also had the Texas Palmer. It was just what I wanted for sure! Crisp and not too sweet. Can’t wait to come back and try more stuff off their menu.

So good! Loved the discount margaritas after 8PM! Veggie burger was probably the best I’ve had in Austin and the fries were very good too. The friends we came with absolutely loved what they got too-regular burgers, tater tots, and tacos. Friendly, attentive service and cute atmosphere. Can’t wait to be back!

Delicious! Casual vibe. Definitely try the deviled eggs OMG. The staff was very friendly and the music was on point with the rest of the place. Mimosa Carafes are always $ 15, not just during brunch ! Also they seem to put more champagne than most places making it totally worth it. Lots of outdoor seating as well, give this place a shot!

Great parking which was nice and the burger was pretty good along with the fries. The service isn’t anything to brag about though. There wasn’t anything about this place that I would rave about. I’d say it’s a good place to try, but I probably won’t go back.

Ambiance: The inside is a little cramped and the tables are small, but there is so much space outside you will never have to wait long for a table. The entrance that I’ve always used is in the middle of a 7th St block, but it’s not too hard to find. just use the huge silo as a Northern Star. Cuisine: I have to be honest, I went to Silo after a once not too great experience with lackluster food. They have completely revamped the menu since I was last there and the changes seem to fit their aesthetic better. New American with twists on old classics, such as deep fried deviled eggs and an incredible egg salad sandwich. The brioche bun alone would make me a repeat customer, but everything was on point. Service: It was great and the water cup remained filled, I don’t need much to keep me happy. Pro Tip: Don’t choose the table directly under the Silo, unless you’re practicing for American Idol. Turns out, silos are echo chambers.

This is a cool little place. Lots of TV, feels like a sports bar, and has a relatively moderate level of noise/festivities. It also has a private lot for parking – amazing! The bottom of my basic burger was a little mushy and falling apart right when I got it, but I like the variety of burgers you can get and their tots looked heavenly! If I were to return, I’d definitely get the tots and maybe a burger with a little more spice, less sauce. Lots of local beers on draft and a menu with a good bit of variety.

I love this place. We got here super super late on a Saturday after watching football. I got the bufallo chicken sandwich with sweet potato tater tots and he got a regular burger(cant remember the name). Overall, the best tater tots of my life! Ma LIFEEEEEEEE I tell ya. My chicken sandwich was pretty great as well. Loved the vibe outside on the patio– just great. Loving life. Will definitely be back since this is my fave burger on this side of town.

Silo on 7th is a gourmet burger and craft beer bar with a beautiful double deck patio overlooking 7th street. An intimate but spacious interior. It was a cool late night spot with friends to grab some tasty bar food and beers. Silo is a dive that can’t be missed. Perfect place for«sharing» with friends.

We played this place brunch style and it seems I am one of the few that wasn’t extremely impressed with this place. The Comal — the bun plays a huge part of a burger for me. Granted there was thicker portion of meat but I feel the bread was too much to enjoy it. I like a mashable soft bun that lets you enjoy the meat and good fixins’ in-between. On the note of enjoying the meat, not sure if ours was a bad batch but it was a thicker portion of dry meat. The BLT — there’s not much variation to a BLT but certain things can make or break a good BLT. The bacon was nice and thick and there was actually a decent amount in the sandwich. Again the bread played an important part as the texas toast was only lightly toasted and bland. In my opinion they could have used a little more butter on the griddle to add that perfect flavor and give it a nice crunch when you bit into it. Imagine what you think of when you toast that perfect grilled cheese sandwich on a griddle — all that butter soaked up in the bread and cooked long enough to where the cheese is almost oozing out. I know I didn’t order grilled cheese but I did add cheese to my BLT and it wasn’t even melted. Just seemed to me as if they toasted the bread in a toaster, put all the parts in it, cut in in half, and served it. Maybe I expected a little more love put into it.

Mmmmm where do I start !! The fries! Good old Idaho potato fries, topped with fresh chopped red onion, green onion, crispy bacon goodness, and 2 fried egg !! Also some kind of very mild cheese The burgers, it’s on par with hopdoddy but I found that the bread is too thick and oily Nevertheless the meat is good and the bacon, and the egg, and the pineapple Tater tots is okay and the onion strings is crunchy Bloody Mary is weak sauce compare to el camino Definitely will come back and hit the happy hour half price appetizer 3−7pm

Amazing service second time around. I asked for my burger to share and they came out in two separate trays with the fries split as well and they didn’t cut the egg cus it would explode. das it mane. Gave me a beer that was like ¾ths full cus the keg ran out but it was on the house so that’s pretty cool. It was pretty busy but the waitress managed to do a good job.

We had a decent enough experience at Silo. The restaurant itself seems neat and since they have their own little parking lot, we were able to get a spot in front. We went on a Tuesday during Eat East, however, our waitress didn’t offer any appetizer or drink special. We just proceeded to ordering chips and salsa with a side of queso. The queso was a white queso(my favorite kind) and was actually really good. The salsa was super spicy. Almost too spicy. They serve all of their meals on little metal trays, which is kind of cute. For drinks I tried their raspberry lemonade, which, although it had vodka in it, tasted like… well…raspberry lemonade. I enjoyed it though. For the next drink, I tried the Blueberry Gin Fizz, and it was pretty delicious as well. Both drinks were on their happy hour, and therefore, were $ 2 off. They also have a later happy hour from 8-close with $ 3 frozen margaritas. I was torn between the attayac bison burger and the grilled cheese. I went with the grilled cheese, which ended up tasting like a grilled cheese that I could have made at home. I guess I expected something a little more, but hey, it’s a grilled cheese. Boyfriend got the chicken tacos, and in my opinion, the chicken was a little dry. The tacos came with salsa, but it was like a watered down version of the salsa we were given with our chips. I do have to say that the sweet potato tots that came with my meal were awesome. The regular tots that boyfriend got were yummy too. I forgot to mention, we were seated by the window inside and that particular area is extremely loud. Everything echoes and we unfortunately had to sit near a guy who was apparently the most hilarious person in the world, because everytime he spoke, the girl he was with would burst out into this god awful shrill laughter. The rest of the restaurant wasn’t as noisy. Anyway, I’d go back for happy hour if I was in the area.

Periodically, I scout out new restaurants and bookmark them on Unilocal.I do this because when someone asks, «Where do you want to go eat?» I can’t seem to think of anything other than the restaurants I’ve already been to. Austin has too many wonderful options to choose from to keep repeating the same old, same old. I bookmarked The Silo back when I was dining at The Hightower across the street. The Unilocal reviews were good and I love a burger and tots! I decided to stop by after work and give them a try. I ordered the jalapeño poppers and the Attayac burger(bison, blue cheese, hot sauce, and arugula) with tater tots. Portions were enormous! The burger is a half pound pattie, the tots were equivalent to about four servings and the four poppers were large and wrapped in a nice, thick slice of bacon. The poppers looked amazing. Stuffed with chorizo, lots of melty, oozing cheese and wrapped in bacon, I was super stoked to try them. Unfortunately, the three I had were all neutered peppers, completely devoid of any spice. They were a nice texture, cooked thoroughly, with a bit of crispness like a fresh jalapeño, but not even mildly spicy. The chorizo filling was also sort of bland. They weren’t horrible and it can be difficult to guess the heat of a pepper without smelling each one. I just was sort of sad that there was zero heat. The tots were good, and I definitely had more than I should have. Diet blown! They were nice and crunchy and well browned, but still soft on the inside. I hate mushy tots and these were done perfectly! The burger, though was adequate, but when you’ve had Hopdoddy, the bar has been set pretty high for other burgers. I found the bison pattie to be sort of blab, which is odd because I find bison to be more flavorful than beef. I contribute this to a few things. First, meat needs salt to reach its flavor potential. A healthy sprinkling of kosher salt just prior to cooking makes a world of difference. Some pepper doesn’t hurt, either. Secondly, beef and other red meats need a nice sear, in my opinion. This bison patty was the uniformly grey color of meat cooked at a lower temp with perhaps some steam cooking, like when too many parties are cooked close together and the moisture content creates a steam effect, or when a metal dome is placed over meat to cook it all the way through instead of allowing the meat to keep cooking from the outside in. It’s fine to do that, but only after the Maillard reaction occurs. Of course, this is my opinion(as is this whole review, duh). The bun was also okay, but not as good as Moonies or Hopdoddy. I didn’t eat more than a bite of the bun. Overall, I think the food is good, not great. The service was also good. A nice, polite server is a joy to have. Would I come here again? Sure, but I can’t say it will be my first pick.
