Shoot a monkey! Okay — so someone beat me to being the first to review this awesome establishment but man, I gotta tell ya — this place is THESHIT! I mean seriously, they are more than just a paint your own pottery kind of place. They offer a plethora of options for when you really want to get your craft on… mosaics, découpage, glass and/or wood painting, beading, clay modeling, aromatherapy bar… there’s definitely something for everyone and plenty of inspiration. They have a ton of books for ideas and what not and they have very reasonable prices and rates. They are really great for groups of folks too — think bridal parties, kids birthdays, and even girl scout troops. I love that they also have retail things made by local artisans for folks who like to support the arts but just can’t do it themselves. They offer cool classes and they are dog friendly too. I have been going to The Work*Shop since the day that they opened and were located in this tiny shopping center off West 6th Street. Now they have moved to a bigger and better swankier location and it totally rocks! I am usually here on the second Monday of the month for my Creativity Club and have been for quite some time now. Yes, it’s BYOB — beverage — adult or otherwise — and you can bring your own food. What’s not to love? Come check it out. Your right brain will be ecstatic and you’ll be supporting a locally owned business run by two fantastic women. You can thank me later… or better yet, come on Mondays and thank me in person: P UPDATE3÷23÷08: I’m here on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Monday of the month — just can’t get enough of this place — knitting and rocking out with other creative projects.

GNOMES, Gnomes I tell ya! A friend of mine had her birthday party here. The theme? Gnomes. We each got to pick out a gnome to paint. They’d glaze and fire them later in the day. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. The ladies there to help us were great helps, inspiration and gave us the requisite encouragement we needed to continue on with the gnomes. Who knew those little guys would be so hard to paint?! The place is filled with things for you to paint. They glaze and fire them, you pick them up later. I think you can just walk in, too, for a fun date or time with friends. Some young girls were there, playing with clay. Food and beverages are allowed. Gnomes, cheese, olives and wine. It’s great… what more could you need? It’s a little hard to find right now, since there is not a big sign above the store, but it’s right next door to Terra Toys.
