Nice guy with great service! Andy delivered to my group and helped me set up an order kind of last minute. He even went along with a last minute change of plan due to weather. This was the first kolache experience for most of the folks we fed, and all were super satisifed!

OMG!!! Best french toast I have ever tasted. Actually one of the best meals ever. I can’t remember the actual name of the menu item(something toast with strawberries) but I felt like I was at a fancy restaurant in the french quarter. Never heard of this place but I am so glad I have now. Yum, yum, yummmmmm!!!

Schnitzel and eggs was a great, hearty breakfast on a cool morning at the farmer’s market. The potato/apple/kraut hash was a tasty mix of sweet and sour. Along with the breaded pork cutlet and fried eggs it was quite filling. Also nice to watch the crowd and check out the products at the market.

Consistently delicious. The Czech Benedict is amazing and hearty, and the mushroom sandwich was awesome. Perfect flavor combinations and the fried egg upps it even more.

The Zubik House recently catered a dinner party for me at my house. Andy was super-prepared. He called ahead to make sure we were on the same page with the menu items and came out to the house to check out the kitchen and the flow of the entertaining area. His wife, Lindy, accompanied him to the dinner party and was wonderful!!! She is so fun and friendly. She and Andy clearly love what they do and aim to please. The food was perfect. We had the much-discussed-on-YELP kolaches(bacon, apple and brie) for appetizers. I could have made a meal of those — YUM! The redfish and the braised pork were both delicious and the fried strawberries were the perfect light(kind of) dessert. I will for sure use Zubik House again!

I was sorely disappointed when I finally caught a bite of what Zubik House had to offer at the Saturday Farmer’s Market after running around town only to be greeted by an empty lot at their South 1st location a couple of days before.(FYI, Twitter updates with your location would be helpful) I spent several months in the Czech Republic last Fall so I was ecstatic to see a trailer serving Texas Czech Cuisine join the Austin food scene. Perhaps my expectations were a bit high, but I honestly didn’t expect to be served a cold, stale kolache roll topped with a stingy portion of pork and relish for a hefty price tag of $ 4. Their Czech dog was equally as disappointing. Maybe I ordered the wrong items off their menu, but I’d rather take my money to Hruskas or Czech Stop for higher quality kolaches at lower prices. Sorry, Zubik House. I won’t be knocking on your door again anytime soon.

On a recent brisk Saturday morning, I ordered up one of their sweet options, and I thought it was right down the middle in all categories. The prices are better than expected, running $ 5 for an extravagant option and $ 3 for the simpler choices, tax being included. Can you believe that kolaches have now taken off in a trailer? I can believe a burger trailer, a taco trailer, heck, even a foreign munchies – such as takoyaki or bunny chow – trailer. But, I was thinking, is this even profitable, with the amount of work that goes into cranking out these baked goods chock full of assorted ingredients? The blueberry and local honey was very OK. The blueberries were tart, with the honey just barely balancing out the flavors. The dough was not as soft as I would have liked, but it was still buttery and tender. I still prefer kolaches as a road trip staple, specifically the one that takes place from Austin to Dallas i.e. The Czech Stop.

Took a trip downtown to visit the Farmer’s Market specifically to visit this place after hearing about how great their kolaches were. When I got there, I spotted a happy customer posing for an iPhone pic with their order of wild boar ribs. That was enough of an endorsement for me. Kolaches always take the backseat to ribs of any ilk, total no-brainer. Shortly after I placed my order, the lady taking orders came out and added the words«Sold Out» to the menu board. This was promptly accompanied by a groan of «Awww Man!» by someone in line — eerily like a response to the phrase«Swiper no swiping!» When my order came, it looked like it could have come from a sophisticated sit-down restaurant, save for the red and white paper tray that the ribs came in. There was a good amount of meat on those bones and they were covered with some glazed blackberries. It was a good combination, overall a very tastry tasty dish. The only critique I had was that they weren’t super tender, but that could be because my frame of reference are pork ribs which seem fattier.

I ate their incredibly awesome asparagus egg sweet bread dish this weekend at the Art Outside Festival. I’m still thinking about it. i think it was made with truffle oil… I swear my mouth is watering just thinking about it. This weekend I’m heading to the Farmers Market to try the rest of the dishes people are raving about here. They lost a star because the guy cooking was rude… rude to me and rude to the woman helping him in the trailer. Maybe he was stressed… or maybe he doesn’t like hippies. ??

I came here during the farmer’s market as part of the Austin Food Tours.(which is awesome by the way… everyone should do that tour it’s so fun) The kolaches were awesome. But was really made me weak in the knees was their ribs! Oh my god. Spicy and falling of the bone. Do they have this regularly?

After noticing this Czech trailer at the downtown Farmer’s market, I finally tried it last Saturday morning. What drew me in? The truffled salt on the menu. The dish: Soft and slightly sweet kolache bread and grilled asparagus topped with a fried egg and truffled salt. It was so satisfying and a good $ 5 breakfast before shopping. Next time I’ll try the smoked pork shoulder with an egg and micro-greens. It looks like the kolaches are popular, too– by the time I got there(11AM), most were sold out.

Andy Zubik has found his muse, and his muse is kolaches! I’m serious, folks. You’ve probably never had kolaches like these. Our sponsors for Big Bang Bordello wanted some gnoshes for the masses that evening. What does one get for a Texas Steampunk Bordello show? Well, I knew almost right away. Kolaches are Texas’ answer to many questions. Such as: «What the heck is that thing?» Kolache! «Holy crap! This is awesome! What is it?» Kolache! «Can you stuff my bun with some sausage?» Kolache! We tried the following: Duck and Truffled Sweet Potato Mushroom Ricotta Apple Bacon Brie Margherita ALL were super duper. I’d personally like a little more truffle in my sweet potatoes, but it was still delicious. I even took leftovers to feed a ton of people the next evening at the marching band festival. There were no complaints, obviously.

Tasty food at bargain prices. I had the pulled lamb kolache as well as he apple, brie, and bacon choice. At $ 2 for a kolache, it’s hard to not give this place 4 stars. Bonus…if you like the ‘Jock Jams’ albums, you’ll love their music they have playing at the trailer. It’s hard to give your order as the speaker is right next to the order window.

Oct 2010 we experienced the glorious Zubik House while camping at Art Outside. We savored every moment, knowing this Czech goodness would not be in our backyard forever. Oh yeah, 3 months later I’m elated to say… woot, woot, The Zubik’s House, is now our neighbor T-F 10 – 5. They are located in the South Shore Eatery. Which is between The AMLI and The Breakers, apartment complexes on Riverside. I doesn’t get any better than this! :) Today we had the herb, ricotta, mushroom kolache and it was delicious.

This is one of the VERY few mobile food vendors in Austin that I willingly patronize. They have quite a nicely thought-out system that makes eating outside an okay experience. The menu is the perfect size — they usually have 5 or 6 ‘dishes’ available, plus a larger selection of kolaches. The menu size makes it easy to order and quick to deliver the food. One of my biggest pet peeves about food trailers is paying way too much for food that comes out of a trailer(there’s practically NOOVERHEAD! Why so ‘spensive??), and the other is waiting too long for food that comes out of a trailer(if it takes more than 10 minutes to prepare, it should not be cooked to order in a trailer). Zubik House avoids both of these common trailer pitfalls. One of my favorite things that I’ve tried here is the acorn squash bread pudding. I don’t even like bread pudding! They also had an incredible duck kolache with just a hint of sweetness… I could eat that for breakfast every day and not even mind being fat. I had a duck, potato and pork belly soup that was rich and delicious… perhaps a little too rich for 9AM, but whatcha gonna do? The only«meh» thing I’ve tried is the apple, brie, and bacon kolache, which seemed not to equal the sum of its parts, but it was still better than anything at a normal kolache shop. I was even there the other day when the city inspector was there, and the people running the place totally kept their cool, despite the inspection and the ever-growing line of customers. I wish them much success, and I would gladly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nosh at the farmer’s market.

Like the other reviews, I’ve experienced the Zubick House at the Farmers Market and really enjoyed what we had. We had a bomb Butternut Squash bread pudding for only $ 2 that was a perfect ramekin size with a very delicately balanced flavor between sweet and savory. We munched on it during our trip through the market — a good strategy so you don’t end up buying everything in sight :)

Not sure of the listed location but the guy who runs this trailer is at the Republic Square Farmers Market every Saturday serving«Texas Czech» breakfast and brunch. Every Saturday there is a different menu — just go expecting an adventurous yummy menu. So far I have had BBQ Pork Shoulder over Fried Free Range Egg with fresh Basil on yeasty slightly sweet Kolache Toast and Pepper Smoked Ribeye over German Potato Salad and Deep Fried Strawberries! Yes you read correctly DEEPFRIEDSTRAWBERRIES! Rolled in granola before frying then drizzled with a balsamic chocolate sauce!
