Based on my latte today… it was served barely warm :(maybe just a fluke but it’s all I got to go on since I’m from out of town.

Honey nut latte! My go-to drink that I recommend to all my friends who come for the first time. It’s sweet but not too milky, and I like the nutty warm taste it has. It’s good either hot or iced! I’ve come here quite a lot since living in Austin, usually to study inside but on some occasions to hang out. The outside patio is great for the latter; the hanging Christmas lights make it really cute and homey. There are a good number of outlets inside, the wifi is decent from experience, but sometimes the music is too loud, to the point where it’s hard to have conversation. That would probably be my only qualm!

Came here on a sunny afternoon to try out a new coffee shop in town. The iced vanilla latte was very delicious! The environment here was very cute and cozy. I look forward to coming back :)

It’s rare that I come to thunderbird for coffee, mostly because I don’t live near one. I’m always impressed every time that I do. I was especially impressed with how my bagel dog was prepared. Rockstar no longer carries them, and when they do it’s usually just thrown in a bag and handed to you. But thunderbird cut it open, warmed it on a grill, and spiced some mustard for me. Definitely above and beyond my expectation!

Great little coffeeshop on Manor Road. Pros: 1. Good coffee. And that’s the most important thing, right? 2. Food options. They have pastries, bagels, Tacodeli tacos, and more. 3. I was there early in the morning(so this may not hold true for afternoon/evening visits), and it was a good place to get things done. Plenty of space, quiet, good light. Cons: 1. Parking. Enough said. 2. Not very fast service when I was there! Definitely a coffeeshop I would return to.

Their turkey cran sandwich will make you slap your mother for not making thanksgiving taste that good. Also, iced and hot coffee are pretty rad.

Near my son’s school, so we’ve stopped here several times. Free wifi, GREAT coffee, tacos/pastries for breakfast, sandwiches & salads for lunch/dinner.

I’ve been here a few times and not impressed. I believe the staff is over caffeinated(too much caffeine). Ordered a machiatto and instead of a dapple of foam I received more milk than espresso in my drink. I thought it was just an accident, but happened again. Great place to hang out, poor service and lack of knowledge about coffee. If you lack knowledge about coffee, this place is for you

This is my go too east side spot! Great coffee and nice vibe. They also have an awesome outdoor patio space. Food is okay, I go for the coffee. Everyone talks about the honey nut latte, but I am a traditional latte kind of girl. Parking can be a bit tough, great to bike to! :)

Thunderbird certainly gives off the typical Austin coffee shop vibes, and adds a bit of personality. Inside is chic and comfortable, and there are plenty of furniture and decoration pieces to be topic of conversation, such as a tastes and aromas poster on the ceiling above the register, and quotes written on the tabletops. It is also equipped with both indoor and outside seating — a cute little yard outside that is perfect for a cool morning. I heard great things about the honey nut latte — my boyfriend said he read endless reviews about it on Unilocal so we decided to give it a try. I would say it’s a really good flavor — one of the best I’ve tried — but it was just a bit too strong and sweet for me. I came back again and opted for just a regular unflavored latte and was much more satisfied. I have yet to try their food — and I can’t speak for their latte art because I was given my orders in to go cups. But the coffee is pretty good — not too strong of a flavor but smooth and satisfying. The one complaint I would have is that the music was on a little loud when I visited once, but other than that I like the place. Not my favorite in Austin but definitely a great place to get good espresso drinks, and a chill place to get some work or studying done.

Coffee again? Yupp. I didn’t think this review could happen but here we are, thanks to a girlfriend who loves coffee more than me(she has a sweater that says, «OK, but first… COFFEE») This is a review that reflects the young, 23 year old male that is limited to vanilla lattes, super sweetened iced coffees and your occasionally random BLACK hot coffees. Everyone is always talking about that honey nut latte, I tried it iced girlfriend got it hot and we both like it a lot. We came back and got a hot coffee and iced coffee and it’s pretty good, ms. coffee over here says the beans are good quality. Let’s delve into places where I can help, like the location, environment, staff, and food! Location has a bit of a small parking lot, good luck during rush hours. Environment is comfy, pleasing, and clean with a touch of Austin. I like. Studying here is a good choice! Wifi is really good so I can play hearthstone and write Unilocal reviews while she studies ;) Staff are cool and like to talk! Go bother them if you have questions! Food is pretty good, just normal. However they have the«le raymond» which I HIGHLY recommend because it’s named after yours trule“ Yay, coffeehouse! One of my favorites!

Do you ever open a new bag of chips or cereal and immediately smell its potent concentration of flavored powdery goodness? No? Just me? Ok. Well, the Honey Nut Latte at Thunderbird pretty much smells just like a freshly opened bag of Honey Nut Cheerios, and I ain’t complaining. The sweetness is cut by the espresso and milk, which is perfect to sip as you get some work done. Thunderbird has quite a bit more solo seating than other Austin coffeeshops, but personally it’s a little too loud to be super productive without your own form of distraction(eg your own music). But there’s outdoor seating, free wifi, tasty drinks, and friendly baristas to entice you to come back — which I’m inclined to. As with most Austin coffee shops, parking can be a massive hassle — don’t park at Hoover’s, don’t block any driveways, etc. You might have to park a couple blocks away and walk for a couple minutes, but baby it’s worth it *insert saxophone riff here*

This spot is right down the road. Bennu and Cherrywood become overrun, so I thought I’d give this little neighborhood gem a try. The guys behind the bar were so friendly and keep their smiles and conversations with the patrons going, making sure to be that bright star in a pre-coffee haze we all have. :) If I could base my review on the folks working here alone, it would be a 5 star, hands down. However… I ordered the macchiato; seemed simple enough to know what their capabilities are. Wow. This is the most bitter macchiato I’ve ever had. My journey for a close to home coffee spot to work in continues…

The coffee is pretty good and it’s a cozy space… if you can find a table. And that’s after assuming that you’ve found a place to park. I’m glad Thunderbird Coffee is here in the Manor neighborhood(and I acknowledge that it’s very loved by the community!). It’ll be a place that I frequent in the days to come for work meetings, etc… but I will continue to walk into the place expecting to engage in a space struggle. I’m not sure if meeting someone for coffee should really be that stressful… The baristas are hit-or-miss in terms of pleasantness. I don’t always get much of a smile from them but maybe it depends on when you’re there?!

Brunch Review: Thunderbird is dabbling in having brunches on the weekends and I attended their first pop up brunch a couple Saturdays ago. I already enjoyed this place for the fantastic coffee but, now there is more to love. I ordered the open faced salmon toast and it was well put together. How could anything be bad with salmon, fresh veggies and hard boiled egg? The only critique that I would give is that the bread was a little hard around the edges and was hard to cut. I also ordered the egg and bacon torta and wow was it huge. The bread was hearty but fresh and the only critique I would give on this one is that I wish the egg would have been a little warmer. The food did come out really quickly, plenty of space on the patio and points for being dog friendly, as always! I hope they continue to do brunch and I am sure they will work out those two tiny kinks in service that I mentioned.

Very austin coffee shop that also serves beer and cocktails too. Nice outside area with lots of places to sit. Not great parking options so be sure to park along the street. I recommend the honey nut latte and the breakfast burritos for breakfast or brunch. The place gets just and tables and outlets might be challenging to find. Bring your headphones if you want to work. It gets loud.

Great atmosphere, but I can’t get over the price of the single shot cappuccino I ordered. Are we in New York, Chicago, or LA? Even in those cities I know I could find a comparable hand crafted cap for less. But where are we? East Austin; although the grungy one-of-a-kind charm of this area merits its own price tag, I personally think whoever decided the prices was feeling a little bit too proud that day. My cappuccino was good though. And my time spent here has been comfortable. I would check it out for a laid back beer after work on their awesome deck, but maybe drive by in the morning and get my coffee elsewhere.

After an action-packed weekend, I was drained and phone-less. All I wanted to do was play Sleeping Beauty until I was back home. With one hour to spare before dinner, my friend and I decided to make a stop here. The first parking lot we parked in was only for Hoover’s Cooking, which was right across Thunderbird Coffee. Thunderbird Coffee and Hoover’s Cooking are strict about parking. Try to find a spot along Breeze Ter. As soon as we entered, you see how packed this place is with people studying, surfing the Internet, or socializing. Even though there were various kinds of tables and chairs with outdoor seating, seating was limited. I ended up choosing the honey nut latte(4⁄5). I’m not a coffee person at all, but I am glad I read some of the Unilocal reviews beforehand. It was neither too sweet nor too strong, was just the right balance! It is so much better than Starbucks, which is overloaded with sugar. My friend spotted a cleared table with 4 outlets right next to the area they prepare food. One of the baristas was making chicken chipotle sandwiches, so the aroma was delightful. The sandwiches were prepared with salads as well. It looked like a meal from McAlister’s or Panera Bread. Most of the time I was people watching while sipping on my latte… Nice to just relax sometimes and enjoy. Overall, it has a hipster and welcoming atmosphere with friendly baristas! I would come back to try their food next time!

One of my favorite coffee houses in all of Austin! I absolutely love Thunderbird! The coffee/espresso here is great. The baristas have all been really friendly. The atmosphere is really nice and friendly. The place is super cute and vibrant and welcoming. There aren’t a ton of seats/outlets, so that might be the biggest pain – finding somewhere to settle down. It’s like war if you go at the wrong time. Outside seating is awesome, but I have never seen outlets out there, so it’s kind of a hit or miss depending on what you’re planning to do at the coffee shop. If you’re with friends, and it’s nice outside, then there’s usually always outside seating available. If it’s terrible weather and you want to study, good luck finding a good seat. My favorite drink is the honey nut latte – it has the perfect amount of sweetness. Even when I ask for extra shots of espresso, it still tastes great and keeps me going for hours. I’ve tried the Thai Iced Coffee – meh, not my favorite. It tastes like me trying to make coffee with sweetened condensed milk at home(my terrible attempts when I’m craving Viet Iced Coffee), which usually doesn’t end so well. I’ve tasted better Thai Iced Coffee at actual Thai restaurants, but I guess the point here is that it’s coffee and sweetened condensed milk. The only thing I really hate is finding parking. You can park in the local neighborhood, but even then it can get crowded and be a pretty far walk. Sometimes, I get lucky with the parking lot. Other times, some person will pull in even though I’ve been sitting in my car with my blinker on. Parking is just the worst thing about Thunderbird. Overall, love Thunderbird. One of my favorite places to get coffee and study!
