Surprisingly good Club sub. Added fresh cucumbers and sprouts for a perfect quick lunch stop.

Best sub place in town. I really enjoy the service and the uniqueness of the staff. The thunder sucks is the bomb!!!

Stumbled upon this place driving around the university. First warning should have been being the only one there on a Saturday at lunch time. I wanted a hot sandwich so ordered the Nada Parm. Seeing them take cooked/​frozen (?) chicken patties and put directly into a microwave didn’t give me much hope. They did doctor it up to be not horrible, but by no means a great sandwich either.

Worst service I tried to get at Thundercloud. I say tried because I didn’t get service. We happened to be next door at the bike shop and thought we could grab quick sandwiches to go considering we had our tiny poodle with us. We walked in and was told he couldn’t be in there so I stayed and my daughter went outside. As I was explaining that he’s 13 years old and has dementia and can’t leave him outside too long or in the car considering its 100 degrees outside, I was very rudely interrupted and asked by the tall male employee with dark hair and beard, «Then why did you bring him?». As I was about to explain we didn’t bring him to thundercloud specifically was just in the neighborhood, I realized this dude didn’t give 2 sh*ts about customer service so I stopped myself and said, «we’ll go eat somewhere else» and the THANKED ME for leaving as if I was a problem. My daughter and dog are outside mind you! Instead of being understanding and offering to make the sandwiches quickly I was thanked to leave. We’ve been eating at thundercloud for 18 years and I even worked at one while in college. Well bye Felicia, not anymore I will take that as a thank you for never coming back and you’re welcome thundercloud. Maybe train your employees about customer service instead of being argumentative.

Delightful, tucked away ThunderCloud, I have driven by it for years and somehow I can’t remember it’s there. Of course the usual menu and super delightful staff (I don’t know how ThunderCloud finds so many awesome people, but good work!). I had amazing service Sunday night! Thank you!

If you’ve never been to ThunderCloud Subs, chances are you’ve heard their TV commercials or radio jingles.
This place is pretty much your local sandwich shop, and I love a good sandwich. My favorite is the Turkey with all the toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, mustard… and of course the Thunder sauce). The ordering process is similar to Subway, except the servers are faster at Thundercloud.
Although the sandwiches are delicious, I do feel it is a little pricey, especially in a college area. However I understand that all their ingredients are fresh which I appreciate.

Thunderclouds is exactly what it claims to be: a sandwich shop. I used to get there tuna sub and feel a little disappointed as the taste didn’t match the price. But today I chose a wildly different route, my friend. I got a meatball marinara and even just watching it get prepared got me excited. The clerk made a funny comment about getting marinara on my beard, too, which added a personal component to this delight of a dining experience. I saved so much on the meatball (compared to the tuna, atleast) that I even got a small carrot cake. I know, right? It was all very tasty and satisfying and that is all I have to say about that.

I like Thunder Cloud subs. I really like the Chicken Salad Sandwich and their California Club. The only thing is since i call my order in a lot (and i don’t check it when i pick it up) my sandwich the majority of the times is messed up. Example: I ordered Cali Club, no mayo, no mustard and no onions. Get to the office and the sub is drowning in Mustard! Yea this happens once in a while, but they are a super busy location and everyone there is real nice and have a good system going so I don’t complain.

I sort of like the sandwiches here. Prefer Jimmie Johns and Subway over these guys, but they aren’t really bad either. The sandwiches are definitely yum yum.

Not too impressed with the subs. The friendly staff and fast service make up for it though. I would probably come again if I didn’t have any other options.

Weird music, great subs. I ordered the Texas Tuna on wheat and was not disappointed! I’d been eating beef and chicken all week and was happy to see the big tuna on the menu =)
While they can’t toast your sub, they will zap it for you in the microwave. They guys were pretty cool, and patient while my whole group ordered their food with all kinds of modifications. Everyone was happy though!

This is my absolute favorite sandwich shop in Austin. I come here t least once a week, often more than that. Everything on the menu is great, but my go-to’s have to be the NY Italian, American Classic, and the California Club. The Meatball Sub is also great and is very reasonably priced.

I come here at least once a month or so its a place to go if you want a pretty alright sandwich. Its normally on point plus its one of the few locations in Austin where you can get a Mountain Dew thats reason enough to go right there.

Ok I have been a fan for years (even their trial time here in Houston was good for me) — but that said I was on a quick day trip with some of my daughters school mates and headed back home to H-​Town when my auto routing took us by TCSubs– I explained that this was the best sandwiches ever-​they called bs (not really more like «we don’t believe you mr. dave”-so challenge extended… I whipped the beast around into the parking lot… challenge accepted). The crew (yes tats pierced etc) were super cool with the girls ordering and asking about our day (much appreciate that) so within minutes, we had some awesome sandwiches (I went Italian on white with the spicy peppers) and we were back on the road. For the next 20 min (until we got to Buccees) all I head was «oh my this is the best sandwich ever» …victory…and they make whatever you want however you want it… great place!!!

Good, solid sandwiches. FAST service. A great stop if you need to grab lunch in a hurry. Neither the fanciest nor cleanest place, but you get a pretty good sub for a reasonable price, freshly made, and quick.
California club: Turkey, avocado, bacon, lettuce/​tomatoes/​onions. Love the crunch added by the bacon. No usual chewy crap that other sandwich shops give ya. Seriously. I’m eating this sandwich right now and this bacon is YUMMY. Ended up being $ 6.70 including tax for an 8″.
I wish there was an option to toast the sandwiches!
My only complaint: I’m a little scared to eat my sandwich because the girl making it wasn’t wearing gloves… and the person who WAS wearing gloves ended up handling my money. Hm…

I’m down.

Waaay better than subway, with close to same prices. I could tell everything on my NY Sub was very fresh. The employees are very cool as well. Quick, fast, fresh and delicious. How can you go wrong when you need a quick sammie?

Thundercloud subs is a pure Austin establishment. The first time I came here was in 2004, and it’s had hippy employees this whole time. The subs I’ve had are consistently good, but I also know to avoid things that might be a gamble. :) Check out Ozone bikes next door while you’re there!

Came here just before closing time to get a sub. At no point did I come into contact with a non-​stoned person.

This is one of my favorite Thundercloud locations since it’s right in my neighborhood. I’m also a big fan of the South Lamar loco, but this one’s partial since it’s a great quickie when I’m hungry and need to feed the mule (cuz the mule is plowing all day, you gotta make the mule happy — — feed and water it, ya know I“m sayin’?).
There’s always a special sub for sale, and this week was the All American (salami + ham + bologna + fixins). Large = $ 3.49, awww yeah. Gimme two cuz the mule will save one for lunch the next day. My other favorite subs are the California Club, Nada Chicken, and the Office Favorite (Egg Salad).
Next day I say? Hells yeah, the subs keep well in the fridge overnight. The sandwich makers here (or artists?) are really good, and they make it the way you want it — — in my case it’s extra onions + lettuce and pepper w/​thunder sauce and hot chili peppers too.
These guys rock, always fast and friendly customer service, great quality ingredients, and very reasonably priced. You can make alotta mules happy by taking them here.
