Ever since they moved to the new location, things have been kind of funky. I never know when to drop items off for consignment, the phone number didn’t work for a while, the people that run Thrifty Chicks were clueless when asked questions about Venus Envy(which is located in their store now!), and the consignment reports take forever to receive. The parking situation is TERRIBLE. That section of Lamar is always packed with cars which makes it impossible to get in or out of their 4 whopping parking spots. None of these things happened when they were at the old location which makes me really sad. I probably won’t be back after i’m done with the consignment process on the last few items I dropped off.

This review is for my consignment experience only. After going on a rampage and cleaning out a giant box of «maybe I’ll wear these…» clothing, I went through the Venus Envy process. Made sure nothing was super wrinkled, checked for spots, added everything with description and price to a spreadsheet. The next day I called them and got a standard message: «This subscriber is not available.» I called again… had I dialed the wrong number? Nope. Their phone wasn’t working. So I hauled my stuff to Lamar to consign it. When I arrived, I learned that they’re only available at certain times(arbitrary, from what I can tell) to consign stuff. Or you have to make an appointment. I facebook messaged the shop and whoever manages that listing responded, surprised about the phone situation. Apparently their credit card payment had not been applied to the phone bill. Then I was informed that I could consign from 4:30p — 5:30p. On Friday of Labor day. I’m still a little raw from the experience but thinking about it hours later, I’m honestly more surprised and disappointed than anything. Surprised that a business wouldn’t realize that their phone was turned off by the lack of calls… and required that I let them know. And disappointed that the business that I’ve hailed as one of the best costume/consignment shops is operating this way. I’ll lug my big bag of stuff elsewhere and that will be that. I am glad I got to experience Thrifty Chicks vintage though. I walked out with a super funky ragged hanging lamp, a gold texas topped letter opener and a beaded clamshell purse for about $ 35 all told.

This shop is really adorable! If you are a plus girl, you can find clothes here for sure! It is a little hard to stop at your driving to it so you might miss it! What makes this store great is the variety of clothes they have when it comes to the fashions through the decades. They have some new type clothes, their are some vintage, rockafella, wedding gowns, prom dresses, and all kinds of wear. Its great. There is a little bit of something for everyone. They offer clothing size for itty bitty people to plus size! Everyone can shop there! What makes me give this place a full 5 stars is some of the costumes that they have. I enjoy cosplay and I was in need of pirate/vintage wear and I was able to find it and in my side. Prices for it were your average pricing for it. They do have some Steam Punk jewelry that is from an local couple that is made fantastically! The women that work there are wonderful! Very nice and extremely helpful. There is no rush to try on anything and they don’t treat you as if you are just another sale. You do have the ability to sell your old clothes there to. So do not just throw them away!

I wish they would get a bigger space! I get a little claustrophobic in there. I need room to shop! Haven’t ever really browsed the costumes but it seems like they get a lot of business from that. I find prices to be a tad high for some of the clothes’ quality. Go during sales they have them often. The owner and employees are very nice and helpful.

This is a plus size girl’s dream store. I had given up finding fun vintage clothes in my size and was resigned to just do my best, hunting for a pretty needle in a haystack of bedazzled kitten t-shirts. I’d seen their ad in the Alamo Drafthouse magazine and finally went with some friends to check it out last year. There’s a fun combination of brand new items with the tags still on and classic clothes. Plenty of casual wear, good work clothes, and even some formals. And. Costumes! Yaaay! Fun plus-sized costumes! I have bought some really fun skirts and dresses here(I generally just buy plain t shirts at Target). Even a light-up dirndl for Wurstfest. My visits are hit-or-miss but the hits are pretty exciting. The sizes range from 12 all the way to 32. Very hard to find clothes over 28 so it’s impressive they have a section for that. Their commission rates seem pretty good. I don’t usually have clothes that are worth trying to sell but I’m considering taking some of my formal clothes and my wedding dress over there. It’s hard to find nice, reasonably priced formal dresses in larger sizes. In order to have the dress I wanted I had to have my wedding dress custom-fit from the designer which took about eight months. We aren’t going to have kids, my niece wouldn’t want it and I think someone else would really love this dress. I’ll add an update when I finally get around to that. Venus Envy has an interesting range of accessories that, of course, will fit any size. Plenty of clubwear, really pretty(though a bit expensive) handmade leather masks, weird contacts to make your eyes crazy colors. The sale rack in front of the store can have some nice finds sometimes. Also they generally have a good sale going on every week. It can be a bit hard to spot. It’s in a small building next to a computer repair place — there’s usually a rack of clothes on the front porch.

I love you, Venus Envy! My friend had been talking about how I needed to visit for months, and she finally got me over to check it out. The store is small and kind of hard to find(I drove up and down Anderson twice looking for it, and missed it the first couple tries), but once you are inside, it is glorious. I’m on that odd cusp of sizes where I can sometimes wear mass=produced sizes, and other times wear plus-size, so it was cool to find a plus-size consignment store that really does have a huge range of sizes. They have plenty of lingerie, accessories and a rack of steampunk-style costume clothes in addition to racks of everyday clothes. On my first trip, I found just so many thinks I wanted to buy! I settled on a beautiful vintage dress that only cost me $ 20, and a long costume shift to wear with my Ren Fest get up, plus a really pretty ring that I had to get by the register :) I also happened to go in after Pride Week, when the store still had tons of Pride products. I love going to any store that openly supports Pride, and where I can take all of my friends and have them feel loved.

Plus sized consignment that is Transgender/Cross-dresser Friendly. Thank you for being so open-minded and affordable! I have a plus size friend who’s been trying to explore more feminine clothing and this store staff didn’t bat an eye about assisting them in finding whatever type of garment they were seeking! It’s consignment so come often and realize the clothes selection is based on chance!

I’ve been here a handful of times– it’s always fun to search through stuff. My favorite area is the costumes right up front! My criticism is that they are kind of high priced for a bargain shopper like me, but they constantly have fun sales, clearance racks, etc. Like them on facebook to find out about the sales.

I was excited to try out this new plus sized consignment and thrift store. They did not disappoint. They have the clothing clearly marked with sizes and have everything from casual to great party dresses.(They have costumes for all sizes as well which is nice.) The prices were very reasonable.(Not OMG the lowest but definitely cheaper than buying retail.) I was also able to drop things off for consignment. The process was simple and we’ll find out if I sel anything soon. So far so good and this is a new favorite shop!
