We dined here last night. I have to say this place was awesome! Everything is served tapas style, and is meant to be shared. Do not come here expecting to get big portions. We tried several dishes, and they were all fantastic: smoked hamachi pipette — fantastic presentation and soooo delicious! albacore tuna tartar — my favorite dish of the night b + b — my initial thought was that this did not have much flavor, but once you get into the creamy goodness at the bottom… it’s really good bacon + eggs — very delicious flavors, but I wish the pork belly was a little cripsy on the outside toasted sesame semifreddo — amazing dessert!!! We tried several drinks too. They were all finely crafted and tasted great! 3500 for the… tom selleck’s mustache cocktail a la louisianne, on draft Our server did a fantastic job. He was very knowledgeable and made perfect recommendations. We will definitely be back, and you would be missing out if you do not try this place!

Writing reviews is easy and subjective. Giving a restaurant a chance to prove themselves over time takes patience and objectivity. Perhaps the first time the wait staff missed something or the kitchen was still working on perfecting their menu. I’ve been to Vox Table four times since opening and I must say hands down that chef Joe Anguiano of Los Angeles delivers time and again excellent quality, original plating and the finest of ingredients. I adore the tapas concept of plating because it is GREAT. Go across the street to Barlata and see the difference. Over there you get what tastes like and looks like canned goods terribly priced and entirely forgettable. I always order wine here because they have a wide variety of Italian reds not found elsewhere in town or if found are way overpriced in other restaurants. On numerous occasions I’ve tried had the mushroom and fava consisting of fava beans, compressed abalone mushrooms, zucchini pesto, and black olive salt and their potato reduction where you sip the mashed through a a pipe like instrument, out of this world. I’ve had the oysters, shrimp, home made bread and zucchini. Best thing about Vox is Chef Joe’s attention to detail and variety. The menu is not stagnant changing quite often which is what you expect of any decent establishment. The room is airy and simply done in grey and whites. The best is to sit at the bar right by the chef and sous chef watching them work, chatting away like at a Japanese sushi bar. The service is on point and attentive.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, and great brunch. I loved their coffee in a French press, and their ricotta stuffed(French) toast was amazing. Straight forward, well balanced food at reasonable prices. My mom got their burger and really liked it. I’ll be back! P. S. free parking is in the Alamo garage.

I rarely write Unilocal reviews but this restaurant was so outstanding it begged my conscience to. My husband and I are from LA and came to Vox on a Sunday night when we weren’t able to get a reservation at my top two choices. Thank god. At first, we saw the nearly empty restaurant and my heart sank, thinking I’d dragged my husband a 20 minute cab ride away for mediocrity. Sat at the chef’s bar(A MUST) we immediately were drawn into the elaborate preparation and cooking of dishes heading into the restaurant. We asked what was being cooked for another table and it was calamari noodles… huh? But we had to try them after the initial intrigue of watching their creation. The meal did not disappoint. Hamachi Pipettes. One of the best yellowtail preparations I have ever had and hands down the most creative. Mushroom and Fava. Earthy, umami, salty, bright green and a feast for the eyes with spring beauty. Calamari noodles. Preface this one by saying I hate calamari. Fishy, chewy, and I’m not a huge fan of fried food. How different this was! Creamy, unctuous, with some crunch and sweetness from the corn. Perfectly balanced. Lastly we tried the bacon and eggs. While delicious, our least favorite of the meal. Perhaps the flavors were expected, the romesco sauce needed a touch more heat. But still, nitpicking at greatness here. Service was friendly and made us feel like we were hanging out with friends. The culinary prowess and ingenuity behind the dishes make me shocked we haven’t heard of the chef or restaurant before. We’re not connected in the Austin food scene so perhaps that’s why. Diners of guarnaschelli, blue hill, grammercy tavern, etc in manhattan and almost the entire Los Angeles A-list including curtis stone and innovators like jason neroni I hope you’ll take my word for it. This place rules. GO!!!

Mediocre at best. I decided to check out this restaurant based on the amazing Unilocal reviews. Yes the cocktails are delicious and the bread is other Worldly but that is it. This place has terrible service and terrible food. The food is served in ridiculously small portions while overly SALTY and under seasoned. Our waiter was also a douchebag. Definitely skip this place. It is basically over priced terrible food with bad service.

I met up with a friend here for Happy Hour here yesterday and what is not to like? The space is open and airy, with lots of windows. We sat at the bar which had purse hooks(always a plus for us ladies). They have a great selection of bites ranging from $ 3-$ 8, house and classic cocktails for $ 6, fortified wines for $ 5, draft beer for $ 4, and my personal favorite, half price wine by the glass. We split the three items off the Happy Hour menu. They have mastered the art of stuffing Yorkshire pudding, which is pretty amazing. The egg in the bun(at $ 6 for two) had a perfectly runny yolk surrounded by corn purée, zucchini pesto, baked in a Yorkshire bun, and topped with corn nuts and black olive salt. The albacore tuna tartar(at $ 7) was innovative and creative served over an avocado espuma wiith crumbled egg yolk, capers, parsley and fresh grated horseradish and chili oil drizzled on the plate. It as served with long paper thin slices of what they called potato lavash which were like a home made vinegar potato chip(only bigger). It was delicious. The b + b(2)(at $ 6 for two) is another tasty Yorkshire pudding stuffed with brisket, horseradish aioli, crispy leeks and a red wine au jus. The brisket was tender. And, although I would have preferred a bit of smokiness on the brisket(damn Texas BBQ influence), the flavor and texture combinations were pretty darn mouth watering. They have an international wine list enough varietals and appellations to suit most palates. Their wines by the glass range from $ 10-$ 17 a glass(half on happy hour). They do carry the Avissi Prosecco for $ 10 a glass($ 5 at happy hour). These days, my go to sparkling is a Brut Rosé, and the Charles Bove, from Loire Valley, at $ 14 a glass($ 7 at happy hour) hit the spot. In addition to happy hour and dinner, they do serve an off the menu brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 – 2, which I would like to try. They also have half off wine by the glass and bottle on Mondays. VOX Table has delicious innovative menu offerings, an appealing wine list, happy hour value options, and brunch and dinner opportunities that look to provide another great dining experience. I will definitely be back. They are located in the Lamar Union retail space. There is free parking next to the Alamo Drafthouse and they also validate valet parking after offers free parking and Valet after 5 pm.

Brunch review — overall, nice experience, good food and service. One note, I made reservations via Open Table and they(the restaurant) required a CC to reserve a table in case of no show, they might charge you. There is a free parking garage to the right of the Alamo drafthouse. The restaurant is facing alamo drafthouse. We had the oysters, crab benedict, bacon and eggs, bruschetta with shrimp, and pork hash. I didn’t care for the oysters. Actually didn’t taste fresh to me. The pork hash was my favorite, it had a little spiciness to it, I liked it. It was shredded pork in a very delicious and savory broth. The pork was tender and well seasoned. The pork belly in the bacon and eggs(duck egg) was very fatty. Most may not like how fatty it is, but I enjoyed it. This is my second favorite. The other two was alright, I wouldn’t order it again though.

A charming place conveniently located right beside Alamo Drafthouse, Vox makes a perfect dinner & movie date night. You might need a reservation as tables were full & we had to sit at the bar on a Monday night. There was plenty of outdoor seating though. This is one of those«order 4 – 5 small plates to share & make a meal, oh & don’t expect to recognize everything on the menu» kind of places. You know, like Odd Duck or Juniper. But I didn’t feel like the combinations were weird just for the sake of being weird. It was unique, yes, but also the combinations just made sense. Each plate that came out was more delicious than the last. The salt baked tiger shrimp was served on a bed of aromatic peppers and herbs with spicy bearnaise(there’s the unfamiliar ingredient — it’s like a buttery, eggy, herbed sauce). The best was the«B & B» though, tender brisket in a savory flaky pastry shell with horseradish aioli & crispy leeks. Yum! Our bartender/server was charming and made my pregnant self a special mocktail which was tasty & refreshing.

Came here with a very large and loud group of ladies as part of a bachelorette party. I know, I know — if I wasn’t in the group I’d be very annoyed dining with us. But they wisely put us in a cool glassed-in private area so we could chat and cheer to our hearts’ desire without disturbing the other patrons. The food was fantastic… course after course of original, beautiful dishes. If there was one negative it was that every time a new dish came out there were so many exotic and unique ingredient combinations listed out by the servers that it was hard to remember exactly what we were eating! But trust that everything from the meat to the veggies to the seafood was delectable. Equally lovely was the cocktail menu. At $ 10 – 12 they’re not cheap but each one was a work of art and dangerously tasty. So the food and drink will not disappoint. But the standout part of the experience for me was the AMAZING service we got by one of our servers… I believe his name was Steven. So friendly, so patient with us, and so much fun. We loved him so much that we left the restaurant chanting his name. Again, apologies to whoever else was dining there that night!

I was on the hunt for something new, hip and fresh. Vox was the perfect match for my date night. Clean, crisp modern design with a relaxed Austin vibe. Our waiter was incredible — his suggestions were spot on, his passion for the flavors and dishes made it hard to not get 1 of everything. Our dishes for the night: — the tuna tartar served with a potato lavash, the perfect starter — wood fired oysters — my date does not like oysters and fell in love with these — the pancetta & garlic butter were the perfect touch. — hanger steak — cooked to perfection, served with crisp potato churros. — duck confit — I do not like lentils — or so I thought … said date has tried multiple times to get me to eat them… Pretty sure I licked the lentils off the plate on this one. Overall the night was amazing, and we are excited to return. We left we a new found love for oysters and lentils. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Other notable remarks — huge wine list great drinks valet parking is free shared plates **I wish I impressed my date as much as VOX impressed me **

Happy Hour at the Bar! Vox Table was pretty darn good, we enjoyed our meal there. Service was top notch and drink options during HH are great, $ 6 cocktails, ½ off glasses of wine and $ 4 beer = win. We had a few small bites before catching a movie next door. The albacore tuna tartar was pretty delicious! Loved the touch of avocado espuma and those chips are addicting. The house special duck sausage was really tasty and flavourful! And the bread, definitely complimented well with the sausage. The mac & cheese with housemade bacon and pasta was warm and homey with a smokey kick to it. YUM! Solid HH here and will definitely come back and try dinner. I want to come back to try the smoked hamachi pipette!

Really high quality brunch! The food was extremely impressive and the service was solid. Our waiter seemed a little out of it at first but by the end he was very friendly and personable. The menu choices are very unique, probably unlike anything else you have seen for brunch before, but everything I tried was delicious. Definitely give the Bloody Mary a shot, and the crab Benedict was delicious. The biggest downside of this place is the high drink prices; I like to do a real drunken brunch with my friends, and that’s really not affordable here with $ 5 mimosas and $ 10 Bloody Mary’s. It also is on South Lamar instead of central downtown, so it’s a little harder to get out to the bar districts if you’re headed for Funday next. However, if you brunch for the food and not the drinks, this is the place for you for sure!

I will by saying that this place is very nice, and we really enjoyed out brunch overall. Granted, I am used to ordering about 27 mimosa carafes for a good price, but this isn’t quite that type of establishment. I made a reservation for 6 people for brunch on a Sunday. Their menu is organized by proportion and isn’t your typical bacon and egg type dishes(although those options are available if you want.) Mimosas(grapefruit and bellinis) are $ 5 a piece, which is a little pricier than I’m used to. But I ordered one of each and they were all perfect ratios of champagne to juice and not too sweet. I ordered the crab Benedict which included a LOT of crab and a perfect poached egg on some bread, which overall was delicious but was very very heavy on the crab. A friend of mine ordered a flank steak, which I must say I will be ordering next time and the bacon I stole from my other friends place was incredible. I definitely want to come back and try this place again. When our group quickly grew to 12, the staff was more than accommodating and moved us into the party room. Great service. I definitely will be back here and would love to try out the dinner menu! If you’re looking for cheap mimosas or carafes though, I wouldn’t recommend coming here.

VOX Table is basically a sleek and modern restaurant serving up delicious American/Fusion tapas. I came for an early dinner and the ambiance was just right! It was upscale, but not too much so… and the setting Austin sun made for beautiful lighting throughout the restaurant, bringing out the eclectic art throughout. I opted for two dishes and neither disappointed, but without a doubt, the calamari noodles were my runaway favorite! The«noodles» were thinly sliced pieces of calamari and the dish was garnished roasted corn, smoked tomatoes(that could be squished to make a «sauce»), spanish chorizo, chili oil, and corn nuts. I could have done without the corn nuts, they were just hard rather than crunchy… but everything else about this dish was spectacular… and it was amazingly colorful to boot! My second dish was the b + b. What’s not to like about brisket stuffed into yorkshire pudding? The dish was again presented beautifully, but I felt that at least 1 of my pudding cups was too heavy on the horseradish aioli. Additionally, compared to some yorkshire puddings I’ve had in the past, it wasn’t as fluffy and custardy as I remembered… Overall, the meal was delicious. I also appreciated the bubbly personality of my waitress Rebecca, who also explained each dish with impeccable accuracy and made some truly choice recommendations(instead of pointing you towards the most expensive choice on the menu, like some restaurants do).

I’m glad I finally got to try the famous vox table! I got to eat at the chef’s line, which was very fun and interesting. It also helped us decide what dishes to order. This tapas-style restaurant definitely knows how to treat their customers– everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Our dish selections: Smoked hamachi pipettes– tasty but I honestly liked them without the sauce in the pipettes Albacor tuna tartar– nice flavors, great delicate textures Bacon and eggs– the Pork belly was delicious, the duck egg was not my favorite consistency-wise Hangar steak– delicious and tender, the churros may have been the better part though Corn and caramel dessert– tasty and light, a great lighter end of to the meal Overall, vox table had great people and great food, but nothing that was enough to blow me out of the water and make me want to come back. Still great vibes and well worth a one time visit though!

A friend recommended VOX over another place for a date with my wife. As our anniversary rolled around, I figured it was a good chance to try it out. Exceeded my expectations and some. The server was there every second we needed him and had a great answer for all our questions. We ended up ordering a glass of wine(Shoutout to Half Price Mondays), the duck confit, the hibiscus beets, the calamari noodles, and the hamachi pipettes. It’d be hard to rank them in order since they were all good and different. Why does everyone like duck? Because the meat stays moist and savory. Why does everyone slightly dislike duck? Because it’s extra greasy at times. VOX figured out how to keep the good and get rid of the bad in a great way. That crunchy skin in the sweet sauce is just a big bonus. I do not like beets. Bliyat. These were some good beets though that was a good side to all the savory items we ordered. The calamari noodles were different from anything I’ve had before. You get what is stated, noodles made of calamari. Topped with a great sauce and some items to change the texture, this was probably the most unique. The pipettes were also good with a multitude of flavors. Just order it and try. Not going to explain any further.

If you want to up your game before watching a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse on Lamar, Vox is a great place to go. We had an «accidental date night» between SXSW Film screenings. We just got cocktails and shared a dessert but everything was wonderful. The bartender even made me an off-book drink because I really wanted a coffee so I got an Irish coffee with his homemade Irish Crème(vis a Baileys) instead of whiskey. It could have been a tad bit stronger but it was delicious! We’ll definitely be back for dinner! We got a

My friends all rave about this place, so I had high expectations. Sadly, I was very disappointed by the experience. The service was great. When we sat down, our server came by and gave us some great suggestions on what to drink. He suggested I try the«Saved» red blend. If you enjoy cabernets, this would be a great choice. I need to find this bottle at the store! Food wise, I was a bit disappointed. 1) mushroom and pear roasted wild mushrooms, chestnut purée, charred & picked pears, crispy croûton. I enjoyed this dish. The chestnut purée really compliment the mushrooms. The pears gave it a great flavor. This would be a great side dish! 2)smoked hamachi pipette tomato raisins, pickled cucumber, thai chili, coconut soy vinaigrette. The concept of these little pipettes are so much fun. You squeeze the coconut soy vinaigrette in your mouth as you put everything else in your mouth. But I didn’t think the soy vinaigrette was as good as everyone said it was. It was just OK, in my opinion. Awesome concept, but flavors didn’t compliment each other as well. 3) oysters daily selection, horseradish, cucumber mignonette, cocktail sauce. I LOVE the cucumber mignonette sauce. It makes the oyster taste so refreshing! 4) wood fired oysters pancetta, garlic butter, herb crumble. These fried oysters were average. They didn’t have a wow factor, but they weren’t bad. I wouldn’t order them again. 5) albacore tuna tartar grated horseradish, crumbled egg, capers, chili oil, avocado espuma, potato. I was highly disappointed in this dish. Another average dish. Thumbs down. The tuna did not taste fresh so it made the dish less appealing. 6)tasmanian smoked trout citrus crème fraiche, meyer lemon purée, kennebec potatoes, pickle cucumbers, winter radishes, black truffle vinaigrette. This dish tastes very very similar to smoked salmon. All in all, I would say that seafood dishes are not their forte. My friends told me their meat dishes are a lot better. I couldn’t eat any meat because I gave up meat for Lent, but I will definitely give them another chance to try out their meat dishes.

There are so many new restaurants popping up in Austin every day it seems like. That only makes it tougher on me to choose where to spend my hard earned cash money when I go out. #cashproblems That being said, I had no qualms suggesting this place for a lady get together after my first visit. Everything about this restaurant is awesome. First, I love that I don’t have to struggle to find a parking spot — there’s ample parking in the garage across the way. Second, the staff. They’re all top notch, highly knowledgeable about their menu and great at their craft. Try sitting at the bar if you can. It’s really cool to watch chef at work and the cooks plating each dish — super cool, if you’re into that kinda thing. Third, and what you’re most likely coming here for: the food. Everything I have had here has been nothing short of fantastic. There’s a reason why they won best bite at La Dolce Vita’s Food and Wine Fest a couple of years ago for their Hamachi Pipettes. I will order those EVERY time I go here, they are that good. And last, but certainly not least in my book: the drinkies. They do cocktails right here and that makes me a big fan. My favorites are the Danny Trejo and the Hand on the Pump, those never do me wrong and I appreciate consistency. Rounding out my list of why you should most reserve some dollars for this place is the happy hour. Those prices just can’t be beat. Top it off with one of their cheese and charcuterie boards(get the pastrami and pork rillete — thank me later) and you’ll be one happy diner.

We came here for my birthday dinner when they were newly open and they allowed us to do happy hour at a corner table. The bonus about having friends that also like to eat is that when we eat together we just order family style and get to try a little bit of everything. Pork crackling — we were surprised as what was set down in front of us was like a bag of chicharrones with some fancy display of sauce drizzled over it. For those of you who know the difference between chicharrones and cracklins — I just felt a little misled by the name. Tongue + cheek bun — the meat was very tender and you wouldn’t even know. Meat to bread ration was great and the bread was nice and soft. Poutine — the gravy had a good deep flavor. Chicken pea fritters — man, I loved these things. We even ordered a couple more rounds for the table to share. Not sure what I thought they tasted like but I would never have guessed these little crunchy bites were made out of chick peas. I was not a fan of the sweet sauce but the fritters held up enough flavor to eat on their own. Pintxo — the octopus was super tender. That’s pretty much all that needs to be said. Our waitress was kind of odd as she was picking up our plates and silverware before our food in the center was even done. Also she asked us if we were ready for the check when our vegetarian friend was still waiting for her cheese plate to come out. Overall food was good, the service experience just kind of left a sour note in all of our mouths.
