My boyfriend & I visit local yarn stores in each city that we travel to. We buy a skein or two from each location & I will eventually knit & crochet a blanket of memories to keep us warm. I didn’t expect to find a yarn shop in Avalon, but was pleasantly surprised to find Catalina Crafters right across the way from our room at the Snug Harbor Inn! We could actually see it from our window. By no means is this a yarn hot spot, but it has a few shelves of some decent yarn — it did the trick! :) I believe the prices are(understandably) a little higher than you’d find on the mainland, but that is to expected. I bought my mom 2 skeins of Noro yarn($ 22.50 per skein) &2 skeins of an acrylic worsted yarn($ 7.49) for our blanket. The lady working in the shop was nice enough & she had a small selection of knitting needles for sale(I didn’t see any crochet hooks). There are also some gift-shop type items & I think there was a decent selection of needlepoint supplies. There was also a small back room that was full of quilting supplies for you quilters! I can’t wait to include the yarn we purchased here into our memory blanket — we’ll never forget our amazing trip to Catalina!
