This is a neat looking beach side pub. Food is good but very small portions and very pricey, I ordered a seafood combo and it had two shrimp, one piece of fish and some small friend clams. I think it’s was $ 17.95. Drinks were strong. A Corona was $ 5 for a bottle of beer … Kinda high if you ask me. I rated low because of the price and the portions

Luau Larry’s: home of the ubiquitous, ridiculous straw hat. Boat drinks are the mainstay here. To get the silly hat, you have to order the Wiki Wacker which is too bad because the Buffalo Milk and the Avalon Sunset are much better libations. We tried the nachos which were perfectly average. The dried out chicken was an unnecessary addition to the bill. Just say no. One and done. The drinks are decent. We came, we saw, we got the hat. P. S. Kids are welcome during the day.

The bartender Johnny made this experience worth while for us. This guy knows what he is doing. The hakuna matata is the best! He offered shots or drinks. we chose the shots. Great choice! Will definitely be coming back here all thanks to him. Wow!

We went to catch the COPA soccer game here. They had a fun drink list and the food was surprisingly good. We didn’t order the pizza, but every pizza looked amazing. I had the spicy chicken salad which was excellent(I was relieved to find some greens on a bar menu!). They also play live music some nights and depending on the night, I anticipate it can get quite rowdy – if you’re looking for that sort of thing. During the day, we saw all ages, even families, enjoying the beachfront joint.

I just called and they don’t have karaōke unfortunately :(don’t know what happened or if previous reviews were incorrect. The person that answered said El Galleon was the only place that does it. Oh whales.

What a great fun place to enjoy the night and get your tilly wacked. your willy whackered… your tiki wickied… damn it… I never get this right!!! YOURWIKIWACKER!!! I love a great bar restaurant place, but this place was just super out of the comfort level and awkward… I came with a group of friends for a fun night out in the town and we came here. The music was on point and LOOOOUUDDD!!! I felt like we needed ear plugs to be served with our meal because it was ridiculously unbearable. Our food came out and I had ordered the sausage pizza. Honestly, the food… not that great. Simple easy pizza probably from a box and thrown into an oven. The bread was disgusting and overall, I wasn’t impressed with the service either.

Great place! We were looking for a place to hangout for a couple of hours as we got to the island early, way before our check-in. We stumbled onto this place first… It was fantastic! Highly recommend the Wiki Wacker to start off! Enjoy!

When we arrived late at night we decided to try this place since it was the only one still open. We ordered an app 2 entrees and 2 drinks. All great choices. There was 1 employee working the bar and all the tables. Considering how busy it was he did a great job making sure everyone was taken care of. Perfect example of how a customer should be treated.

Don’t keep walking by this place. We did, glad we turned around and went back… During our weekend on Catalina Island we arrived hungry and ready to have lunch. We wanted a place that was on the main street with a beach view and a patio to enjoy the breeze. We initially walked past Luau Larry’s cause there was no patio, but we came back and figured we try it out anyways. The place has a great menu. Roast beef deep, grilled chicken sandwich and fries were on our plate. Everything tasted yummy and fresh. Prices aren’t over the top. Atmosphere is upbeat and staff is friendly. Bar was busy. We even saw local workers there; that’s when you know something is good.

I was in Avalon with my boyfriend last weekend, and we visited Luau Larry’s 3 times! It’s a great place to kickoff your Catalina weekend. Order the Wiki Wacker first – it’s a tasty drink, but the best part is the hat they give you to wear. You might feel a little silly(if so, order a couple more), but it’s so much fun to walk around downtown Avalon, see other people wearing the hats and say, «Hey! Wiki Wackers!» The buffalo burger here is SUPERB. We went back to get a second one because the first was so tasty. I highly recommend that. The clam chowder(in a bread bowl), was also very tasty. The first two times we went to Luau Larry’s was during the afternoon, and the third time was for dinner, and that last time is the reason I can’t give it 5 stars. Whereas the restaurant was perfect during the day, with great, fast service and delicious drinks and food, it was a bit too much of a party when we went for dinner. There was a live musician Saturday night who screamed more than he sung, removing all ability to have a conversation. The bar is so small that there wasn’t enough room for both those who wanted to dine and those who wanted to party. The service was slow and uncaring – when my burger came back severely undercooked, the waitress rolled her eyes when I asked it be cooked longer, and pulled the plate away without saying anything. It left a sour taste in our mouth, especially after we’d had two previous exceptional experiences. I will definitely be going back to Luau Larry’s, but just for some afternoon drinking/eating.

Decent service — a free hat with a $ 10ish drink, not bad! Party place! If you’re on a cruise, stop by here for a little rowdy fun and run into someone you met on the boat!

What a perfect place to have a late Sunday lunch. My husband and daughter, both Scottish and raised on fish n chips, Larry’s right up there. Flaky, moist rock cod with just crispy-enough batter made for a tasty meal. My Texas roots were satisfied with one swordfish taco with shredded cabbage and an avocado salsa. It came wrapped in 2 sturdy corn tortillas which I separated and made into two tasty satisfying tacos. All meals were accompanied by cold draft brews which made them all the better. The server was a sweetheart and the venue was cozy and reflected the Aloha spirit. We were eyeing the different flavors of shots offered, but passed. I bet that place rocks at night. Just go.

We had to stop in for a buffalo burger! We were seated fairly quickly. The atmosphere was light and fun. Our order was taken straight away. We had the jalapeño poppers and of course the buffalo burger cooked medium. Everything arrived fresh hot and cooked to absolute perfection! Definitely will go back next time we are in Catalina!

This bar is a little all over the place for me. Hence the A-OK rating. Service: 4.5 stars. Our waitress was really good Food: 4 stars. The poke was surprisingly good, the fish & chips were good, pizza was average. Drinks: 3 stars. Definitely nothing to write home about, but very cool that they give you a straw hat with the Wikki Wacker. What almost ruined it for me: SOHOT. There is no AC and very little ventilation and I was miserably hot. Also the women’s bathroom was DISGUSTING. Would I come back? Hell ya! Cheers!

Came here for lunch after a crazy 8-mile hike around the southside of the island. Ordered the swordfish taco and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of flavor. Of course, I also had to try Catalina’s famous Buffalo Milk which was pretty delicious in and of itself. My wife ordered the fish & chips which she enjoyed. My only knock on this place(as with other restaurants in Avalon) is that due to the drought, water is not complimentary and is to be purchased by the bottle. Beware of this before you arrive and make sure to pack your own water!

Look, this is not an especially extravagant or luxurious place. What it is, is a nice little hole in the wall that serves strong drinks and a perfect environment. I ordered the Caribbean breeze drink(which was recommended by the bar keep) and then kept them coming. We had chips and salsa with guaq all day long and it was perfect, wasn’t the best ever but it definitely did the job. Why would I rate this place five stars? It simply has that vibe, the kid if place that you just like to be at. It had a great drink place, really good looking food and and great music played at a volume that you can still have a conversation with your friends and not feel like you’re yelling. Overall, you’ll just have to show up in order to really get the total feeling of this place, it’s just one of those places.
