Home made ice cream in Avalon. I like the way they continue to rotate home made flavors and carry a variety of about 35 flavors. The scoop sizes are nice and the family/staff that runs it are quite friendly. I typically take home punt of my favorite flavors to enjoy back in PA. This may be the best ice cream I have had!

This place is the best! We have been to many other places in Avalon and their ice cream is fabulous! Not to mention the owner Ed is an amazing person!

Pretty good ice cream. We always stop here when we’re in Avalon. The line is always long but the staff always has it together and gets you in and out really quick so that’s a huge plus. The place is really cute, too. Some Outdoor seating is available. I recommend Avalon mud!

Great ice cream. Amazing customer service! Well worth the extra few blocks to walk past the competition. Went with my 3 year old and they treated her like royalty. So many great choices. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else.

Only ice cream place to visit in Avalon. Waffle cones are freshly made there and sometimes still warm when served. Avalon mud is the best ice cream flavor I’ve ever had and I work at an ice cream place.

Friendly staff and so many flavors to choose from. I like that they rotate the flavors. Wish I had come in on a day with the basil. I’ll make it a point next time. Great choice for a late night treat

With four kids we’ve done plenty of summer ice cream sampling along the jersey shore. Somehow, this place eluded us. Rotating, unique, ice cream made right on the premises with a fast and friendly staff which is great.

Amazing ice cream and generous portions– its as good as it gets! They have so many flavors I often find it hard to decide on what I want. Avalon Mud and Salted Caramel are my favorite, and they also have plenty of other equally delicious flavors including Mint Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Swirl, and Funky Monkey. The owner is so sweet and personable and you can tell that he goes the extra mile for his customers. My only recommendation is to go right after your dinner because there is a line that is out the door by 8:30, if not earlier. If you don’t visit here at least once on your vacation you are missing out!

Salted Caramel was perfect. Rich vanilla based ice cream with the sublime, balanced salty caramel in every bite. Great service with a number system and reasonable prices. Sundaes look tempting. And a Veteran outside working diligently to keep the outside tables clean. What a special man.

Easily the best ice cream on the island, and my favorite ice cream on the planet. Yes, it’s that good. They usually have upwards of 30 flavors on deck, all home made with epic quantities of cream, making this the dietary equivalent of Fat Man. But you didn’t come here to diet now, did you? Of course not. You want that creamy smoothness to take you back to happier times… riding bikes with your best friend on a summer afternoon, staying up late to play Monopoly with enough house rules that nobody could actually win, and playing glow in the dark wiffle ball. All the flavors are great, and some simply cannot be missed. Peanut butter, black raspberry, cherry vanilla, and cappachino chunk are my personal favorites. No, I can’t be a kid again, but Sundae Best can at least make me feel like one.

Sundae Best is adorable. It’s owned and operated by a father and daughter and clearly has a hometown vibe. Ed, the Dad but more like a Grandpa, can be seen working hard and socializing with customers out front. The ice cream is fantastic, but Ed is also a draw! All their ice cream is homemade daily on site.

Cute neighborhood place. Line was wrapped throughout the place and almost out the door, but the staff had their shit together like a well-uniformed assembly line and the wait was over quite quickly. They had every ice cream flavor imaginable but they were out of waffle cones that night(no biggie). Prices were average. Helpings were just right. My Swedish Fish water ice was not overly sweet and very enjoyable. The black raspberry ice cream was very good. My cousin, however, got the salted caramel and wasn’t crazy about it. We’ve all had salted caramel before and it’s generally the perfect sweet to salty ratio, but this was like if you walked into the ocean with a caramel candy in your mouth and then gulped a mouthful of saltwater. That’s what it tasted like. The salt content was almost gritty on the tongue. Stick to another flavor and this place is just right.

Sundae Best truly is the BEST. Their homemade ice cream includes the typical flavors, including mint choco chip and cookie dough, but also includes unique flavors, such as coffee cake and funky monkey. I ordered one scoop of funky monkey(banana ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate chunks) and one scoop of death by chocolate(chocolate ice cream with dark/white chocolate chunks and chocolate fudge swirl) on a sugar cone. All I can say is wow. The funky monkey ice cream is now my all-time favorite flavor, and i imagine that it would be even better in a cup with hot fudge poured over it. The servings were HUGE(each scoop was probably a little smaller than a softball), unlike other nearby ice cream parlors that give skimpy portions and charge a ton. As I walked out, with a smile on my face and my ice cream in hand, I most definitely got stares from salivating customers waiting in line. The service was impeccable as well. The sign on their door said the closing time was 8, but I arrived at 8:15 only to find a line out the door and the employees still serving ice cream past the scheduled closing time. As I was waiting in line, I had several questions about some flavors, and the employees were happy to answer they were scooping ice cream for other customers. Additionally, they offer various toppings and types of cones.

Everything you could want in an ice cream shop and more! The ladies helping us were delightful and didn’t mind when we asked them a hundred questions about the flavors! After ordering I realized they only took cash and when I discovered I had none on me the lady helping me told me I could just take the ice cream and come back with the cash later. Seriously. I can not wait to come back here. The ice cream is out of this world!

Service was very friendly, nice that they still had a selection of items even though after Labor Day. Salted carmel was just ehh, the black cherry was pretty good. I think we prefer the ice cream place across the street from the 5&10, but this is a good backup.

The best ice cream on the island. Several flavors to choose from sample them all. Good customer service but no indoor seating. Sizes are generous. The small size is more than enough. Next time I may get kiddie size.

Not sure what’s the big deal. Ice cream was just Ok. Expensive. I guess it’s what you get from the shore…

I’ve been eating here for 3 years now after we discovered it. The ice cream is delicious and they have many different flavors including specials. The real play here is there different Sundae combos which never disappoint. The staff is very friendly and efficient. I would not waste my time at the other two Avalon ice cream places in Avalon. It is a close second to the main ice cream place in Stone Harbor. To be perfectly blunt, either Sundae Best or the shop in Stone Harbor — you can’t go wrong with either one but if you want some tasty sundaes stay in Avalon!

Best ice cream on the island hands down. And their ice cream cakes are out of this world. If you order your cake far enough in advance you can pick your ice cream combo! All homemade ice cream and they even have soy ice cream. The service is second to none. The owners are always there to keep an eye out on those busy weekend nights. AND it’s a Penn State family-doesn’t get any better!
