A classmate from Tepper recently took a bunch of us here to check out the vineyard(his Aunt and Uncle’s), man am I glad he got us to drive the 40 minutes outside of the city! Ted and Janet(the owners) are fantastic. From the time you roll up to their home, they welcome you in with open arms and share an un-commercialized enthusiasm that is rare nowadays. They have two vineyards on top of the hills where they specialize in growing and cultivating mostly German and French grapes BYHAND! The tasting room itself used to be a hay barn that Ted used for his earlier passion of cattle farming. Everything about this place screams down home country. When you arrive, they gladly offer to first take you to tour the vineyards and their equipment setup in the basement of the barn(a great combination of purpose build wine making and modified dairy equipment.). Once you’re done, you get the typical rundown of dry to sweet tastings, all of which offer a unique taste very clean taste to that of other western PA wineries. If you’ve got some time to spare or find yourself in the Washington, PA area, I highly recommend checking this place out!
