This store was great in its day. I remember when it first opened in 1980. The place use to always be packed. At times it was so busy that you couldnt find a parking space or they even ran out of shopping carts. My family shopped here for years religiously. I myself even worked here part time. All through the 1980s and 1990s this was the store most of us Colonia residents shopped at. About 10 ot 12 years ago i watched this store decline. The prices just got really high, any sale item they had the shelf was empty. They only have one cashier working so your forced to wait or use the self checkout. The backroom and restrooms are distgusting. The parking lot is a mess, garbage all over the place. The guy pushing the carts looks homeless and ignores the customers and looks like he has not showered in months. Not to mention homeless and riff raft hanging outside of the store. It just totally went down hill.

I come to this Pathmark on occasion because of its convenience. On the whole I find it a little low quality and kind of sad. Everything seems dingy, and there is never a crowd. Produce does not last very long from this store, and with a fantastic farmers’ market down the road(here’s looking at you Rahway Farms), I skip the section 99% of the time. They do come through for same-day ripe avocados when I need to make guac. There are a few other shops within the same storefront including a liquor store, dollar store, Subway, Chinese place and I think a salon too. Again, a factor of convenience and not as much of quality. It’s there if you need it, but wouldn’t be my first choice recommendation.

No frills small supermarket. Not much variety on organic foods and at night a skeleton crew is staffed. Usually only one cashier at 9pm forcing you to use self check out. They don’t offer pre sliced collcutts from the deli so if you arrive after deli is closed you can only get pre packed franchise sliced cheese and meat which I find very unfortunate. Lobsters in the seafood tank seem to never be purchased. They look at me as if they which they had some seagrass to clog there gills with and end their caged torture. I think the only time the leave the tank is when one of the lobsters voluntarily closes its gills :\. I consider this an econo market. it works in a pinch. Would recommend Wegmens in Woodbridge or Shoprite in Linden

Very little grocery variety. If you are buying the bare necessities(eggs, milk, white bread), the place suffices. I might come here for fish though; dept is small but the flounder is very fresh. No organic choices and flower shop is almost nonexistent. Staff is pleasant.

Would be 4.5 stars… You know what’s interesting about this store? Well, when you walk through the front door, you would expect to go right into the interior of the store, right? Well, not this one! When you walk through the front door, you’re actually walking into an indoor strip mall, filled with a number of shops(and some vacant ones too). The entrance of the actual store itself is right in front of you when you walk in towards the back. Very interesting. Whenever I’m in the area, I come here if I need to get something that’s on sale. Between now and when I was a kid, the store itself hasn’t changed at all. Sure the store’s old, but I never had an issue finding what I needed here, especially since most of the shelves were well-stocked. Customer service was fine as well. Most of the sale prices here are competitive. Overall, it’s definitely worth stopping here whenever you need something at a good price. Happy shopping!
