Alaqua Condominium

I stayed here on vacation while visiting my cousin, so my review is not as a resident but as a visitor.
The grounds here are beautiful, everything is very clean and the greenery looks similar to a resort. Though I didn’t speak to the security staff very often everyone was extremely friendly.
We never used the gym here but we did take a look at it — it had enough equipment for a good workout — some cardio and some weight lifting.
Our favorite spot was by the pool. The pool and hot tub area here is gorgeous. The pool is always heated, the palm trees offer a ton of shade and there were always plenty of lounge chairs available.

Pros:
1) Clean building with gates, security
2) Outside pool (heated in winter)
3) Covered parking (for some)
Cons:
The management is unprofessional. They do not enforce their own rules.
1) Mail issue. In couple of cases, we were not informed about the packages waiting at the security booth. And they did not send us a slip, they must call but sometimes they forget… for 7 days. until the sender started to question and I went on uspost website to learn that my packages were sitting at the security for a week!
2) Parking issue. We had someone parked at our parking spot for months. After informing the management again and again, they kept replying «It’s not true, there is no car in your spot!» We actually had to take photos of the car parked in our spot to prove it. Only then the car was removed. It took about 3 months.
3) Security issue: guards gave us misleading information. We lost the keys from our unit, and I called the security (Rashid) to ask if they have a spare key at the building. He told me «Yes, we have, you only have to bring your ID and I will let you in your unit» (his exact words). So we took our time (it was holiday) and arrived late around 2am knowing that the key will be waiting for us. Only then another security told me that they do not have a spare key. Because of this we had to go through lots of trouble.
4) Nuisance. And the worst part is our neighbour having loudspeakers (our bedroom wall is right where he is listening his love songs in the mornings and late evenings, and doesn’t give a sh** as his landlord is friends with Property Manager) and the management does nothing, they even lied to us about couple of things! The agreement with Alaqua states that no person shall disturb the neighbour in any way but the management does not respect their own rules. We contacted Property Manager Isabel Blaise who informed the security not to respond to our coplaints regarding loud music. I was very surprised when the security guard (Richard) told me that he is not going to quiet down the neighbour and he does not care about it! Security told us we have to call the Police instead. However, the Police told us that this is something that management should take care of. Go figure, or go sue them all (what we actually did).
5) Pool issue. There are many parties at the pool on weekends. People drink, eat food — while sitting in the pool (even though the sign says «No food or drinks at the pool area»). Sometimes people bring the BBQ right next to the pool and cook burgers! Disgusting.
6) Sometimes there are loud drunks in the pool at night, security does nothing (the sign says «No swimming at the pool after sunset».)
7) Ant issue. Ants must be coming from storages that are close to apartment.
8) Safety issue. Fire alarm tests that are supposed to happen «monthly» — they did test them about every three weeks when we moved in, until they stopped these tests in April and there haven’t been a test in 5 months. How is this «monthly»!
On April 13^th I woke up around 1AM from the strong smell of smoke! I opened the door and the whole hallway was filled with white smoke. I got really scared and called the security guard who came up immidiately. Apparently our «nice» neighbour was cooking and forgot his meat in the oven! How come there was no fire alarm working in his unit?! Security told me that he will bring up the issue with Property Manager Isabel. however there were no fire alarm tests afterwards.
