Always wanted to eat at this place, so the wife and I popped in and were totally disappointed. Ordered taquitos and sopes. Neither were any good at all. Taquitos were obviously frozen. Asked for cup of water, but were told NO you have to buy a bottle of water… Not fresh, not friendly, not authentic Mexican food!

This place is a hidden gem and one of my favorite places to go in Avila. Great Mexican food for decent prices and amazing, friendly staff/service. I recommend the nachos or the fiesta burger with fries.

Not many restaurants in Avila Beacb with just one dollar sign. This place was affordable and delicious. Service was good too. We have tacos and quesadilla.

I come here every single time I come to Avila Beach, such good authentic food made fresh right after you order. The only thing is that there can be a wait time to get your food just because everything is made fresh and it appears to only have one cook since it is so small, but it is always worth the wait. While you wait you can watch tv or sip on a beer or two :) definitely try the Tijuana tacos and sopes!

Very good fish tacos. More of a to go place. Some tables. I do wish the sign didn’t say open when they are closed. Pay no attention to the posted hours. Went around 5:30 p.m.on a Tuesday, only to find a sign saying open, but closed tighter then a Pismo clam. Inconsistent operating hours, but hey, if open, the best fish tacos we tried there and we tried 2 other restaurants, one was the Ocean Grill, much more expensive and far less tasty. Fresh grilled fish at the Taco Shack, so for that reason alone in spite of the annoying hours, I give them 4 stars.

Had the pastor chicken beef tacos all juicy and delicious! Order of chicken taquito’s were light and delicious! My girlfriend had a chorizo taco also fantastic! We will be back!

Small, for sure, but the guys are so nice. Loved my fish tacos(should have added guac, but that was my fault). They had our large order ready in less than 15 minutes. Solid food, great service, cute place!

Boring tacos with zero flavor. Tortilla and fish itself tasted fine, but no salsa, tiniest lime wedges in the world, no cilantro, and with romaine lettuce not cabbage… wtfffffff. At least the staff seem friendly and the prices are fairly cheap.

Only place to get tacos, way over priced for the # fish tacos, they were supposed to put the topping on the side for our other tacos, they totally forgot. There was no salsa and the limes were cut to thin. The taquitos were store bought. The only thing good were the fish tacos and they don’t make them in a set of three only sold individually, weak.

We love the fish tacos here, but the wait is always terrible. The last time I came here, I ordered 4 fish tacos, a steak taco, and bean burrito. The employee told me it would be a 25 minute wait. Well, it was an hour! I will not go back.

I don’t want to ding them with a one star review, but they are closed when it says they are open. Taco Guys: close all you want, just update Unilocal or post a note or SOMETHING if you’re gonna shut down when you’re normally open. I’m freakin starving and was counting on those tacos.

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. We were camping at Pismo and heard about this place. Glad we made the easy 15 min. Drive. A bit hard to find, but once we ordered from the friendly guys, and got our hot, fresh, and tasty tacos… We were thrilled. Very small place(seats maybe 10) but more tables outside, but fair prices. My fish tacos were very good and his 3 taco special… Great. Left, full! We stopped in for dinner going to get«world famous» tacos and we were so disappointed. The tacos had no seasonings. I ordered the taquitos and they were frozen of the Costco kind. Nothing authentic about this place. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Not«World Famous» Had the fish tacos with my girlfriend and we could honestly only handle two bites. We gave it a fair shot, but the quality does not match the price. We are not picky eaters either.

Food is ok. The guy was a dick about giving us a cup of water for my brother who has a device in his throat bc if medical condition etc. We had gotten 4 meals and 4 drinks but he finished his and still had food which was giving him a hard time. They tried to say there were no cups but we already purchased a soda in one. Then refused to let him have water and had to buy another drink. There was a real possibility my brother could have started choking and passed out etc. O well won’t be coming back to try the fish taco as planned. They got a dollar at the cost of much more.

Fish tacos sounded perfect after hanging out at the beach all day. My husband and I were even willing to pay the $ 5/taco price since they were advertised as being that good. They were bland and terrible. Absolutely zero flavor — I think the frozen fish from Costco has more flavor. We thought that putting their green salsa on might help it, but unfortunately their salsa was terrible too. Their guacamole tasted like a smashed avocado with nothing else(onions, tomatoes, lime, etc). Their tortilla chips were weird and gross(how do you mess up tortilla chips?). And my coke was lukewarm. My daughter had a chicken quesadilla and it tasted like he microwaved it — no grilled, crispy outside, and once again… no flavor. We weren’t expecting much and would have been happy with an average experience, but this was just plain bad.

I’m not returning. I have been passing by this place for quite some time and decided to finally give it a try. The food is not bad at all, but the one thing that turned me off was when I asked if they do a fish burrito, they said they will have to charge me the full price of a burrito in addition to the price of a fish taco. I’m sorry, but talk about overpriced… A burrito is about $ 8 – 9 plus a $ 4.99 taco. What the? I’ve been to other Mexican places where they gladly substitute fish for the meat for an extra $ 1 or so, but to charge me $ 4.99 because I don’t eat meat. I’m over it. There are other Mexican food restaurants that I would gladly give my business to that won’t rip me off.

Took forever to get our food. The food was seriously so bland. I ordered the super natchos… nothing super about it. Cheese, unseasoned bland chicken, and beans with I guess you could say guacamole. …tasteless. Don’t waste your money. Expensive.

Convenient and clean, with good prices considering proximity to the beach. Quality is slightly above fast food but nothing to write home about. For a quick beach meal, it’s recommended.

I DONOT recommend and I will NOT be a return customer. The place is easy to find if you’re coming from the paid parking lot in Avila by the main shops. If you’re coming from the beach, you’ll have to navigate thru other shops and stairs(or elevator) to get here. The place is TINY, I understand that space is at a premium at the coast. There is only enough seating for maybe 6 people MAX!!! Upon my arrival, this joint was extremely HOT, the cook and cashier were sweating. Turn on a fan or something. I ordered 2 steak tacos and an order of Super Nachos w/steak. Prices are decent considering you’re at the coast. The order didn’t take too long to come out, but w/the temps inside it felt like an eternity. The tacos were not very good. The meat had a TON of fat still on them. By the time I picked it off, there was more onions and cilantro than meat. The meat was not the best quality and didn’t have good flavor, but it was soft. Meat should be tender, but not ‘soft.‘ The nachos were just ok as well. They too had the fatty meat on them. They also came w/guac & sour cream, but was plopped in one corner of the nachos. Tortillas tasted like they had been sitting in the oil for too long. I really like having limes… or lemons for my tacos, but none were offered here. The employees were friendly, but when I placed my order the guy was eating a taco himself and stuck his fingers in his mouth to finish his last bite.
