While this is the closest Dick’s to my house, it is not my favorite. Despite the fact that the store looks big and seems to house a lot, we find the selection to be way worse than the store in Plainfield. The staff is fairly friendly and tries to help but I typically only will come here if I am looking to browse and not needing something specific. For example, the Plainfield carries quite a few additional outwear clothing brands that Avon does not. This store does usually carry a clearance section which is nice but be careful of Dick’s clearance pricing, sometimes it is a laughable amount of discount.

Visited with my family on ²⁄₇. The ‘greeter’ was rude right from the start. As we were leaving we asked a couple of questions about the status of a local skating rink. When a reference was made to a nearby rink she remarked that it was ‘full of Spanish’ and that this what is wrong with the establishment. Even my normally dis-engaged teenagers found that comment disturbing, asking if she meant Hispanics or the actual language, and commenting that it was sad people still felt the need to use others’ heritage as a derogatory term.
With 3 kids in sports, we on average, we spend a rather large amount of money at Dick’s locations on a monthly basis. However, after this experience, we will not be returning to the Avon location and will seek out other options for our sporting goods needs.
